I'm pretty sure that is nearly exactly what the next V series phone will be. There used to be a bigger difference between the G and V phones, but the G7 has closed the gap quite a bit.
Marco same as every brand they are not all great my friend , some models are MEH , i have the G5 which in some areas is actually very good , in some others it sucks .
Same here, started with G2 in 2012 ( still have it ), than G Flex 2 red - beautiful phone but it bootloped :( , than V10 - the most manly phone but still elegant - lost it in a taxi :( , and now i have G6 which i like that it doesn't have the girlish / iphonish design like everybody these days copy...
Yeah me too, started with g6, then v20, now I have v30. I picked up the s9 for about a week, glad I returned it and kept my v30. I don't want to have the same phone as everyone else.
Don't undersell the Quad DAC. It might take high impedance headphones to truly appreciate but it powered even my crappy backup headphones better than any phone I've ever used (and this is coming after using the HTC 10 - I use an LG V30: Same DAC). Also I can't go back to bluetooth in the car, the difference is noticeable and really good.
I am personally rocking the Sony MDR-7506 headphones with the G7, and sweet baby jebus, the sound is epic! No other phone can compare! The Quad-Dac is one of the reasons I bought the G7
I had the G6 and one thing I could never stand was the UI. I'm sorry it just straight up sucks. I like this phone but if I can get more RAM and almost stock Android from OnePlus for a cheaper price I'll go that route. LG needs a wow factor to stand out from other companies
lamar frazier uhmm. LG has better Cameras, speakers, a DAC, IP rating. Choosing OP6 just for "more RAM" is not a good decision (Seeing how you'll never use the 8GB of memory to its full capacity). I'd say wait for HTC U12+ or the Pixel 3 (for that sweet stock android.)
There is a 6gb ram version of the G7. "but, OnePlus has 8gb version"... Those extra 2gb will literally make fck all difference. The difference between 4gb and 6gb is already pretty negligible. I can't same I'm a huge fan of the default theme, but can't you just change that? O_o
Piglet Squid changing the theme will not give change its OS. Stock android is better because it provides bare minimum which you can tweak to your preference without sacrificing its smooth User experience. But I do agree with you, making a decision over "MoawRe" RAM is ridiculously hilarious.
lamar frazier 6GB RAM is standard. 8 GB RAM is obviously overkill. LG's software is biggest let down. Why you should buy an LG phone? 2 reasons, that 32 bit Quad DAC & that Wide angle lens. Without wide angle lens, there is not much to say about LG's camera. It's good but not great like iPhone X, Pixel 2 or S9+. But it's obviously far better than OP6 camera.
Wide Angle Cam, Quality DAC, Headphone Jack, Great Speaker, SD Card, FM Radio, Waterproofing, Fingerprint Scanner, Wireless Charging... ticks so many boxes, great job LG.
I dont know why LG has lessen the FOV of the wide angled camera. 🙄 if it is about distortion then you can use the main camera. or atleast include super wide angle option on the wide angle camera, like the front camera on the v20 which crops the wide angle to make it more natural FOV.
but i like the fish eye effect on the wide angle camera. if you dont want distortion then you can use the main camera. or atleast include super wide angle option on the wide angle camera, like the front camera on the v20 which crops the wide angle to make it more natural FOV. 😂
I'm using it since three days, and for me is just perfect. The quad dac delivers really gread sound on the headphones. Best choice for people who listen lot of music!
I like your reviews a lot, because, they are always crisp and precise... Frank and honest... Your clean and clear voice adds the real flavor to the video... Thank you and good luck...
Can I just say that once this phone gets discounted (while like most LG products will be very soon) and if you can use a more stock-like launcher like Nova, then I really don't know why you would buy a OnePlus 6. Assuming you can tolerate the notch, this phone works on all 4 carriers and does most other things as well or better.
Haha what a tough question. This wide-angle Camera is so useful, and I find battery performance to be better. I’d go OP6, though. It has better video, it’s less aggressive at closing apps, and OnePlus treats it as its only product, so they care more about how it ages.
I'd take Oxygen OS over LG's fancypants OS, plus it has a better camera, Dash charging, faster android updates. I care less of wireless charging and water proofing.
SUPER USER : Only when you love oversaturated colors. And all of the filthy comparison videos on youtube are in daylight, no low light comparison, no video stability comparison, no selfie comparison, no portrait mode comparison. OP6 even beats IPhone X in low light conditions and is marginally comes close to S9. Since I haven't seen G7 doing all this against other flagships. I'm gonna say OP6 is the winner here.
I JUST got a V20 Friday. And man I love this phone. And get this. I got supposedly a refurbished one, but it looked brand new to me. But here's the thing. I got it for 162.00 from Amazon.. what a steal! I was able to shoot my daughter's graduation that night. It turned out great. I need o than you guys. You had some of the best coverage on the phone out. I knew exactly what to expect from the camera well before I even had it. There's plenty on Amazon for 200 and quite a few unlocked for less even. I saw one today for 158.00 that's got to be the best deal on a phone out right now. Thanks for the great vids about this phone. You guy's ROCK!
The only reason why i got this phone was the free 4K TV 😂😂 , I mean i have a G6 and It's a nice phone, but not the best phone out there for sure. This does seem like a really nice upgrade from the G6 so far. Wouldn't mind a bigger battery though.
if they use amoled screen on the second screen then it will not use too much battery. i use lg v20 with second screen and they're both ips panel. when i leave the second screen on while the main screen is off, there is a backlight bleeding since ips uses backlight unlike amoled.
I agree. Even if they still had an LCD display, LG could have cut a small notch in the corner for the camera like the v20 and made it one screen instead of 2.
Hey I want to ask a question but it might be a stupid question coz I'm not an audio guy. I always hear '32 bit quad dac' but since we have 32 bit processor and 64 bit processor, does it also apply to audio? Do we have 64 bit quad dac?
@ the moment I own a contract with the LG G5 (I had a two year deal with it) well I like the LG look and like the way it is to be used, I will be getting the LG G7 ThinQ, everything that peoples are saying that the LG G7 is bad about, and isn't the best at, are just nit pickers, To me it is like turning down food when you are hungry, The LG G7 seems a brilliant phone to own
Why do they compromise the camera modules on each android device i see? Why not do something like what Sony do? An equal megapixel and apperture for the front and rear? Why?.......
Own the lg V30 and I hope LG won't disappear from the smartphone market. I got so used to the quad Dac I can't listen to my music on other smartphones. Never had any crashes. Still runs very smooth without any problems. I hope there will be still new LG smartphones with the Quad Dac, when my current V30 breaks.
Is the camera stabilization better on manual mode vs regular mode? The V20 and V30 have great cameras until I start walking. Stabilization is not good on both phones on either setting.
I think LG lost it's way and is confused about offerings. Also suffering from chinese competition, but mostly confused about what it should offer. I remember the G line being a reasonably good phone for a fair price not that long ago. G4 was one of it's biggest successes if I'm not mistaken, had a fairly good price and specs for the time, and all that. Huge success in emerging markets at least, if I'm getting the model right - not sure. For some reason, LG started ramping up the price in more recent generations, and chinese manufacturers started encroaching and getting ground. For at least the past couple of generations LG G series sounds like an upper middleground no one is asking for. It's priced at a premium, it doesn't have much to offer over the competition, and still has lower specs than the inevitable V series. The G6 at least had a weird tall screen that was the most memorable thing about it... this one seems to have nothing to differentiate itself. I like the idea of having a regular plus wide angle scheme for camera, but that doesn't count when stabilization and video is inferior. I commend LG for investing more in stuff like pro features for photo and video, plus audio which is something most other companies overlook, but it's always offerings with caveats. Like, you have all these extra manual controls on the V20 camera, but it seems auto mode is inferior to almost any other smartphone in the category. It has top of the line DACs for headphones, but the speakers are nothing to write home about. Almost all features feel that way... one step forwards, two backwards. Screen is gorgeous but it isn't OLED. There's some meek trend following that at most attends the basics. RAM is ok but other brands offer more. Android version is recent, but not the latest. They did something with AI, but not much. They did away with their second screen to follow the notch trend, so there's nothing special about it. The UI is fine for people who like it or are used to it, but for the most part it looks dated and offering nothing new. Last few enticing things about LG phones I remember all went away too. It was one of the last brands to offer a top of the line phone with removable battery. It was one of the few that used materials like leather and texturized backs. It was one of the last competitions to Samsung's Note line offering a stylus in one of it's phones. Now it's mostly meekly following trends, but not quite getting there. It's kinda sad. The death blow comes with the price. It wouldn't be a problem to offer a featureset like that with a modest price... 400 bucks, 500 bucks. But at close to 750, it makes zero sense. That's a price point that the market is expecting everything to be on par with the best, plus some very enticing extra feature. And LG is not only not offering any enticing extra feature, most of the features it's offering that follows the trend all have some problems attached to it. www.slashgear.com/t-mobile-lg-g7-thinq-price-is-unbelievable-21531385/ I hope the brand manages to reverse this and go over this slump. But honestly, I don't think they are gonna sell any better than the previous couple of generations. And I'm not sure if V40 will have enough to fare better than V30 too... few rumours and speculation so far, but nothing out of the ordinary.
Your English is excellent, although I recognized the accent. My father immigrated as a child, learned English early, and had no detectable accent. His mother never lost her accent. When my dad visited Germany later in life, he quickly became fluent again in German. The locals in his home area said he had good German without accent!
Shey Villo Its not in the same league,g7 is multimedia monster with best lcd display on the market, this display in live is game changer. One plus lacks core features and it cost almost 600$.Honor 10 is the new midrange king and cheaper then one+.
I would love to see android to be able to answer phone calls and stream music on hearing aids like the iPhone without an extra device then I would switch. What do you think?
This will be my next phone. For people complaining about the screen, +mLCD is brighter, can read the screen through sunlight and every pixel gets a white light. Also no worries about ghosting or burn-ins. The screen is better than the one on the OP6 but of course, everyone will still pass on the g7 because "muh OLED". This phone satisfies what I need from a daily driver.
Great review. Lg is always to bring things first and make road for others to make money. Probly falling short on making money of their innovations. There is very famous proverb in India for this " The things are not sold well where they are grown". I am waiting for it arrive here in India. I am eager to see it early.
LG keeps doing this. They never want to go all the way, they go 80% and think people will still buy their product. I mean for video, OP6, and OP5+ for that matter, have the best OIS on the market at a price far cheaper. Photos are great, no problems there, but 4GB of RAM and a 3000 mPa battery in 2018 REALLY? As much as I want LG to succeed (still use my G4 alot and it works great), I don't think this phone will sell.
Coming from the G6 I wasn't expecting myself to like this phone as much as I do, not because the G6 is bad but I thought it would be a pretty iterative upgrade. This might even be my next phone 👀
I would absolutely get this phone. The Notch really bothers me, but I do appreciate and would definitely use the option to hide the notch as notches on phones are completely idiotic. My biggest problem however, is the price is just far to steep for what it's providing. $750 dollars provides you with a multitude of much more impressive smart devices. I'm going to see how the price on this fluctuates in the future then maybe consider jumping on it.
I'm just happy they stop using last years chips set. Like in the past. I think they did this to stream line everything. To set up the V40. I think they go all out with it.
I feel like One Plus 6 got announced after this but still took the internet by storm because of MARKETING and price point. LG always drops the price on their phones after a month of no sales. If OP6 was selling in carrier stores, it would seriously be over for LG.
I really miss the IR blaster from the newest flagships, it can be so useful. :( Slowly I need to find the replacement for the G5, but maybe that's not my next phone, no innovation.
One thing about flagship...It is almost all the same. Just put a bigger battery in it for sake. If the other phones can put a 4000 mA battery, so can you. I am a little confused. Here he is saying battery is good but the other reviewers said it isn't that good. Which is it?
Lg g9 brings magnetic atrachments, no notch and a bottom sticker tape OLED screens. The attachments include: extended battery with wireless charging, 360 camera, a one inch sensor point and shoot camera, and a micro 4\3rd mount for interchangeable lenses, XLR deck, shotgun mic, bose speakers, VR ar engine.
They even technically had the first notched phones in the LG V10 and LG V20 technically speaking, before Essential and Apple. They even had the first all touch phone the prada before the iPhone, and curved oled before samsung on a smartphone, and with their google phones, we got face id, great camera tech, not to mention wide angle and quaddac pro amp. But the big two just copy and rifine them and get all of the credit.
Wow, I'm surprised at the battery life all the other testers must have been using unofficial software. I was seeing mostly 4 hours tops down to like 5 or 10 percent.
I think so...other than the battery size, beats my G6 per processor, etc. Loved my G6, still works great, BUT...this one looks to give me that DAC too, and I use the 3.5 inch jack for headphones a lot. Lots of upside.
I'd say wait for V40 or G8 to make it worth while upgrade I have a G6 and have no complaints and with Oreo should hold another 6-12 months easily but maybe I just say that as I'm on a strict budget so if you have the funds it's an upgrade go for it 👍
Heck yeah. Im writing this with My G7. I traded my G6. Its an upgrade worth getting. Everything the G6 had potential towards is in the G7. I have Zero Complaints. That means alot coming from me. Im OVERLY PARTICULAR.
LG G7 + Dual speakers + bigger battery + OLED display = LG V40?
Hao Pham and I'm sold 😂... Though they really need a larger camera sensor on their main they are falling behind in low light fast
I thinq it will be the V35
+no notch +6gigs of RAM
I'm pretty sure that is nearly exactly what the next V series phone will be. There used to be a bigger difference between the G and V phones, but the G7 has closed the gap quite a bit.
Hao Pham I know for a fact it's oled and no notch that's it tho
I got the lg g7 a couple of weeks ago. Couldn’t be happier with it. Coming from original iPhone X and Samsung phones.
I rock LG Phones since 2013 and never regret it. Great Phones.

I also have the G5 (2 Years now), and its really good. Still does everything really fast and is realiable.
I started with the G2 too, but it was released in 2013 not 2012. Served me good 2 1/2 years before I got the G5.

LIT GOD LG is not like vivo or oppo LG is competing with apple or Samsung. why lg don't make there own design just like g6?
LIT GOD Maybe it looks good, but G7 looks like every one on a market right now, copying Apple or Samsung. LG is too good and big to be like that.

lamar frazier uhmm.

Wide Angle Cam, Quality DAC, Headphone Jack, Great Speaker, SD Card, FM Radio, Waterproofing, Fingerprint Scanner, Wireless Charging... ticks so many boxes, great job LG.
I'm going to plumb for a G7, in the UK its £270 ($360) cheaper than the S9. Makes it a steal in my book!
I dont know why LG has lessen the FOV of the wide angled camera. 🙄
if it is about distortion then you can use the main camera.
or atleast include super wide angle option on the wide angle camera, like the front camera on the v20 which crops the wide angle to make it more natural FOV.
They dumb
JC Ko because the new camera is clearer on the wide angle view.
Because it looks like fish eye if it's too much
but i like the fish eye effect on the wide angle camera. if you dont want distortion then you can use the main camera.
or atleast include super wide angle option on the wide angle camera, like the front camera on the v20 which crops the wide angle to make it more natural FOV. 😂
Bumping up the megapixels = lowering the wide angle.
Lg phones are great. Still rocking a v20. But they should be innovative like they were with v20.

need more battery. simple as that
Lee Price if you don't mind me asking, how is your v20 over time? in terms of battery and general usability that is
My G3's (3-4 months old) has horrible battery. I have to keep it at 15 brightness just for the battery to be stable.
No actually, it had better battery life. I used/use em' both.
Hmm.. If you like R35's, I'll tell you something. Came to my cousins house in Belmont and saw a R35 with a 2jz swap. About 5 minutes after a G-wagon.
Dano Akmal sold my v20 after the batteries deteriorated after 1.5 years. Even having a spare batt made it worse, switch them over all the time.
Can I just say that once this phone gets discounted (while like most LG products will be very soon) and if you can use a more stock-like launcher like Nova, then I really don't know why you would buy a OnePlus 6. And LG is not only not offering any enticing extra feature, most of the features it's offering that follows the trend all have some problems attached to it.

I hope the brand manages to reverse this and go over this slump. But honestly, I don't think they are gonna sell any better than the previous couple of generations. And I'm not sure if V40 will have enough to fare better than V30 too... few rumours and speculation so far, but nothing out of the ordinary.
google lens in default camera app? u missed it
The phone looks great!
Is it a better choice than a v30?
Your English is excellent, although I recognized the accent. My father immigrated as a child, learned English early, and had no detectable accent. His mother never lost her accent. When my dad visited Germany later in life, he quickly became fluent again in German. The locals in his home area said he had good German without accent!
One plus 6 or lg g7 thinq?
Shey Villo I would buy the g7 for the better speakers
....and the ip68 dust and water resistance btw
Pete Elite yeah thats nice too
..and QDAC, wireless Charging , wide angle Camera
Shey Villo Its not in the same league,g7 is multimedia monster with best lcd display on the market, this display in live is game changer. One plus lacks core features and it cost almost 600$.Honor 10 is the new midrange king and cheaper then one+.
What type of headphone do you recommend since it doesn't come with them?? That the only flaw !!😭
Any secure folder built in?
Does anyone know then the lg g7 128gb with 6gb ram is going to be released?
Real dac test of g7 like v30,v20 and g6?
No camera review this year?
I would love to see android to be able to answer phone calls and stream music on hearing aids like the iPhone without an extra device then I would switch. What do you think?
Where's the LG V30 after the buzz?
Great video Jaime!
Thanks!
What about battery life?
Is there face unlock?
This phone is great and as usual with LG phones its going to be underrated.
HTC U12+, Mi Mix 2S, OP6, or HTC U12+, or HTC U12+ ?? ;)
3DFX U12+
Lg makes some good washing machines.
Glen O'Donnell and some amazing TVs and refrigerators..
Ayyo Gubbe Baddetadde oggu..
As much as I want LG to succeed (still use my G4 alot and it works great), I don't think this phone will sell.
i m using g6 n its an awesm experience..sir looking forward to this g7
When will Google launch it's pixel
Will there be a Real Camera Review?
4:50 The face you be making when you know you about to get some puhhh!!!!
6:01 whoa who's that beauty
I dont see why more people dont talk about the dac in this phone?
What was his name?
Thanks for the eye candy Jaime 6:08
What game is he playing during the video
I'm just happy they stop using last years chips set. Like in the past. I think they did this to stream line everything. To set up the V40. I think they go all out with it.
You guys really need to upgrade to 4K cameras considering how many subs you have
This video was fully shot in 4K. Rendered at 1080p.
I feel like One Plus 6 got announced after this but still took the internet by storm because of MARKETING and price point. LG always drops the price on their phones after a month of no sales. If OP6 was selling in carrier stores, it would seriously be over for LG.
"Beg to differ" or "Beg to defer"?
I really miss the IR blaster from the newest flagships, it can be so useful. :( Slowly I need to find the replacement for the G5, but maybe that's not my next phone, no innovation.
One thing about flagship...It is almost all the same. Just put a bigger battery in it for sake. If the other phones can put a 4000 mA battery, so can you. I am a little confused. Here he is saying battery is good but the other reviewers said it isn't that good. Which is it?
My lg g6 is bootloader locked and is still on android 7.0
Waiting for the LG G7 real Camera review!
Lg g9 brings magnetic atrachments, no notch and a bottom sticker tape OLED screens.
The attachments include: extended battery with wireless charging, 360 camera, a one inch sensor point and shoot camera, and a micro 4\3rd mount for interchangeable lenses, XLR deck, shotgun mic, bose speakers, VR ar engine.
I wish lg would bring back the curved screen from the g4
Htc u12+ review??
They even technically had the first notched phones in the LG V10 and LG V20 technically speaking, before Essential and Apple.
They even had the first all touch phone the prada before the iPhone, and curved oled before samsung on a smartphone, and with their google phones, we got face id, great camera tech, not to mention wide angle and quaddac pro amp.
But the big two just copy and rifine them and get all of the credit.
You can get rid of the notch and blend it in??? Nice play LG. Let me see iPhone does that.
Wow, I'm surprised at the battery life all the other testers must have been using unofficial software. I was seeing mostly 4 hours tops down to like 5 or 10 percent.
This phone doesnt send tex messages to my progear2 watch any reason why
HTC U12+ > LG G7. Can't wait to get it for my channel
ironshark123 will be uploading OP6 videos now
I'll wait for the HTC U12+ review to make my decision between it, this or to wait for the Pixel 3.
What watch was that?
Moto 360 versión 2. Still my favorite watch.
Thanks for the reply Jaime!!!
Really glad the battery time was good...considering this to replace my G6. Should I?
I think so...other than the battery size, beats my G6 per processor, etc. Loved my G6, still works great, BUT...this one looks to give me that DAC too, and I use the 3.5 inch jack for headphones a lot. Lots of upside.
Douglas Smith no wait for the v40
I'd say wait for V40 or G8 to make it worth while upgrade I have a G6 and have no complaints and with Oreo should hold another 6-12 months easily but maybe I just say that as I'm on a strict budget so if you have the funds it's an upgrade go for it 👍
Not sure you’ll feel much of an upgrade, except for the screen and the audio
Heck yeah. Im writing this with My G7. I traded my G6. Its an upgrade worth getting. Everything the G6 had potential towards is in the G7. I have Zero Complaints. That means alot coming from me. Im OVERLY PARTICULAR.
notch... I believed was inspired by the V10’s 2nd diaplay
They need a u/i just like when the s8 was release sammy brought new icons etc.
