Wish I could get on with "home gym" setup but i never liked it. Got a dual cable and squat rack over lockdown in the UK. I couldn't wait to get back to an actual gym once they opened again. Fornsome reason going to a seperate building i just find easier to stick to/more motivating. Everyone's different i guess. (Also i go at 8:30-9:45ish so is nice quiet which may be a big factor i guess)
There's two types of phone users in the gym: those of us who put it on "Do not disturb" and use it for logging workouts and/or music and then there's everyone else. Don't be like everyone else.
When I started to train 20 years ago mentality was "how to make training hard as possible". Nowadays they are wanting to make it as easy as possible. But still yield results. My generation was looking for hard work and results. New generation for results only..

Anyway keep it up.
I appreciate seeing and learning about the gym and media culture. Overall, I'm ok with not ever joining a gym. Thanks, James, for your dedication. And your question is the right one. What bodybuilders could do differently to not die young is the question. Of course, you could not do bodybuilding, but sometimes it is the most healthy thing you could do. Bodybuilding is as healthy as the individual lets it be. Growth hormone, along with overeating, is the main common vulnerability in bodybuilding. Lifting the super heavy weights can be very stressful on the human heart. And each bodybuilder having their own channel seems to be a trend. That channel pressure is competition among channels and that spawned lifestyle vulnerability. The pandemic shutdown placed gyms in lockdown and pushed the ones on edge over the edge. Alcoholism is a common problem, and no proper physical outlets contribute. But overall, bodybuilders breathing problems with wheezing and shortness of breath is from training mistakes along with too rapid of muscle development. Basically, if you use proper nose breathing in all your exercises, you bring the level up to the demand. You strengthen your breathing with exercises normally. Not if you make training mistakes, though. Similarly, you weaken breathing horribly if you use a cpap machine during sleep.
That girl who was rude to the guy being nice to her and just saying she was cute is really why men and women don’t get on anymore. Sick society. He complimented her and she should have been gracious about it not full of herself 🙄
While there are many positive things about social media, I feel like the bad overshadows the good. There are so many people that take things to the extreme and make it annoying and sometimes delusional.
Plot twist. Dude at the front desk who was asked to charge her phone and walk her to her car, felt vulnerable and like he was being stalked by a thirsty woman he wasn't attracted to. However, because he was polite and not an asshole, he didn't confront her for her thirsty behavior.
I use my water bottle to let people know that I'm using or going to use a machine after cleaning the one I'm done with but that's not federal law! 🤦🏾♀️If someone starts using the machine anyway, then I'll simply just grab my bottle and go to another one until they're done! It's not rocket surgery! Also, dude wasn't being a Creep at all. That was just a normal gym interaction! You see someone with a cool shirt or a cool tattoo (especially at my gym...) and you say 'hi', especially if they're a Regular. I've made so many friends that way. There are Creeps that show up to gyms but they never hide for long and even then, you don't have to film a confrontation. You can confront them and then go to the front desk to let them know what's up so they can get kicked out and banned. Again, not rocket surgery! Social Media Gym Culture is a disgrace. Just workout and go home!
Wouldn't be surprised if there isn't even really a "Paul" and that's just a set up for content and likes. That's how much of a circus social media is these days.
I just bought myself wrist and ankle weights to ‘up’ my walking. I clock a good couple of miles a day. Videos like this really put me off going to the gym! I wonder if most gyms are insufferable like that… I genuinely have no idea!
Fortunately most gyms are fine. No influencers filming, no attitudes, no bullying. Just people focusing on improving themselves. I've been going to gyms for 10+ years and I've seen someone filming themselves only twice, and rude behaviour less than half a dozen times. Maybe I've been lucky.
Nah i go to a commercial gym (in europe) and there are some weirdos but never like this. Saw two guys almost get in fight about who got to use a machine. thats it for 3 years of going to this gym.
If there's an American Barbell Club in your area, I highly recommend it. You're not allowed to record or do any influencer-type crap, and most people are there to train hard. I've been going to mine for 5+ years and I've never had an incident or seen one. Plus there are so many machines available that you almost never have to wait. This sounds like an ad sale 😅, but yeah, it's all about finding the right one by doing your research.

Yep, I am glad I have my own gym in my garage. I go there I work out and that is it. Music pkaying but no social media. Occasionally my son in in there too. Public gyms do my head in for many of the reasons highlighted in your videos. Having said that they do make great content. That why I keep watching your channel.
people nowadays think they are celebrities because they set up a film production on the gym, film themselves and post it online. a random or bad interaction with people has them think they have the right to label that person a creep or not worthy of their attention. that lady is just one of the sea of narcisitic people on social media that think they are better than everyone. i know the dude was not used to having a conversation with a woman and may appear weird but that lady should not label him a SA predator or a creep because of that. people in this generation doesn't know how to hold a conversation or didn't learn how to properly interact with another human being so when they do interact it definetly look weird but understand they don't have practice or have the capacity to do it properly.
I don't really mind people recording at the gym. I would like to point out, that at least from my experience, people that record aren't that bad most of the time. Maybe I just live in a chill area, but I haven't really come up with any of these "fitness influencers". Somebody records, I pass through, they don't care.

Definitely was staged. These are click bait at its finest. The acting is bad from both sides.
Must have been. She wasn’t cute. The script wasn’t believable.
Dont know the guy seemed naturally polite and what use does it have to post yourself being disrespectful against a nice guy
If that video was real then I got sad that women these days are so cruel, dude just did a sweet compliment and her response was disgusting
@@RezisorssI've heard worse for doing less. Don't underestimate how cruel women can be.
F in the chat for Paul

4:09 the booty bandits looking at you the second you walk into your cell
I'm on the "water bottle to reserve equipment" side.
Why, stay with the machine, do your sets, and fuck off again... Is that so hard?
@@wilfreddv why? wait your turn or do something else. Is that so hard?
I'm so glad I'm married and we have a home gym in our garage lol
Shredded sports science days are the best days!!!
Thank you for cutting the sound of the noodles! As a person with misaphonia, that stuff drives me to a blind rage.
Never thought I’d see a black lenny
I'm not sure bodybuilding is a sport. There is no athletics component to the competition.
Big Lenny got REALLY tan this year!
I'm 39, and 3 years ago, I almost took roids. I was really considering it. And now I learn about this young dude who passed away from roid abuse at the age of 36 just broke my heart...
There’s a major difference between using and abusing…
"Oh hey, nice shorts, my sister has a pair just like them."
and that is why I train in my own little home gym. There, my equipment is ready and I can simply work out without distractions....
Absolutely! Best decision I ever made as well.
Black Santa prepping for that Christmas run through the hood.
Squatting sumo like that ass to grass is fucking unhinged
There's two types of phone users in the gym: those of us who put it on "Do not disturb" and use it for logging workouts and/or music and then there's everyone else. Don't be like everyone else.
When I started to train 20 years ago mentality was "how to make training hard as possible". Nowadays they are wanting to make it as easy as possible. But still yield results. My generation was looking for hard work and results. New generation for results only..
Social media has ruined everything! I used to watch gym content to motivate me and help with my form. Now it’s it’s full of influencers who actually don’t care about fitness they just wanna sell their programs and shitty supplements
Dude really appreciate your channel and your other one also. I’m an older guy who’s always been into the topics you’re covering (looking at me you can’t tell) but the best thing I look forward to on your videos besides the information is the humor l get it or is the information the humor.
Good to see Big Lenny still alive
People have chuckled at my Soloflex, but I can workout in peace and quiet.
I taught the black guy was Big Lenny.
That fastest boxer is freakin hilarious oh my gosh 😭
That girl who was rude to the guy being nice to her and just saying she was cute is really why men and women don’t get on anymore. Sick society. He complimented her and she should have been gracious about it not full of herself 🙄
All the weightloss in the world won’t make NA any less unhinged.
12 reps faster than the eye can see
12 non-reps. I still wonder if he's trying to workout biceps, shrugs or standing upright rows.
While there are many positive things about social media, I feel like the bad overshadows the good. There are so many people that take things to the extreme and make it annoying and sometimes delusional.
3:40 "Perfect and slow reps" of what exactly???
Plot twist. Dude at the front desk who was asked to charge her phone and walk her to her car, felt vulnerable and like he was being stalked by a thirsty woman he wasn't attracted to. However, because he was polite and not an asshole, he didn't confront her for her thirsty behavior.
Social Media has destroyed many things
Adding cocaine to the steroids seems to be a double whammy for the heart
1:18 I made a similar noise last time I did my zipper up too quickly
Rocket surgery?
@@andrewsteer8860Brain science!
whenever I think about going back to gym, you remind me why it's better to exercise at home
The water bottle bit made me do the thing where I cover my eyes like I'm not looking, but it's a youtube video
Wouldn't be surprised if there isn't even really a "Paul" and that's just a set up for content and likes. That's how much of a circus social media is these days.
5:02 erase my brain now
My man's got those Type 2 Diabetes ankles...
I'm so glad I work out in my garage now.
They’re really not, I’ve never seen any arguments or anything. Only see a camera every now and then too
It happens occasionally but it's not common at all. I've been going to the gym for 15 years and have never had a confrontation.
I honestly don't know how you can call body building a sport with a straight face mate.
when you walk away from the equipment, your water bottle is no longer a place holder.
Yeah that woman is crazy. Personally I would ask if she's done but once you leave it's a courtesy not a requirement
I look forward to your videos, keep em coming. 👍🏻👍🏻
07:20 guy was respectful. He was just taking a chance but for her was a chance at content and clicks and getting attention from social media not from a guy that had sincere interest in her. What a world we live in 😢
Yeah I’ve seen clips of actual creeps in gyms, they normally don’t respect boundaries and come off as normal human beings when you tell them “I’d appreciate it if you didn’t”
2:01 How does he look 40 and 5 years old at the same time?
Yep, I am glad I have my own gym in my garage. I go there I work out and that is it. Music pkaying but no social media. Occasionally my son in in there too. Public gyms do my head in for many of the reasons highlighted in your videos. Having said that they do make great content. That why I keep watching your channel.
Hey Paul: buddy you dodged a bullet there 😆👍
people nowadays think they are celebrities because they set up a film production on the gym, film themselves and post it online.
a random or bad interaction with people has them think they have the right to label that person a creep or not worthy of their attention.
that lady is just one of the sea of narcisitic people on social media that think they are better than everyone.
i know the dude was not used to having a conversation with a woman and may appear weird but that lady should not label him a SA predator or a creep because of that.
people in this generation doesn't know how to hold a conversation or didn't learn how to properly interact with another human being so when they do interact it definetly look weird but understand they don't have practice or have the capacity to do it properly.
My suggestion for making bodybuilding safer: judge based on aesthetic, not raw size. No v-taper at rest? You're too big, zero points.
Gym culture has turned into a joke because of social media, it's just a trend now.
I thought black Santa was supposed to be making toys the other 11 months of the year. 😮
I don't really mind people recording at the gym. I would like to point out, that at least from my experience, people that record aren't that bad most of the time. Maybe I just live in a chill area, but I haven't really come up with any of these "fitness influencers". Somebody records, I pass through, they don't care.
