    Honestly Lilly, thank you so much for making this video. To all the butthurt people out there, the world is not a wish granting factory, and that is what she is saying here. She's not crushing your dreams, dear 12 year olds, she is motivating you to work for them and eventually achieve them. Yeah, she says that there will always be someone who is working harder than you, faster than you, stronger than you. Because that's true! You have to accept that fact. You want to be the best out there? You have to work harder than the rest of the world for that. And that work is going to be hard and painful. But if you want it bad enough, so bad that you miss your precious sleep, and you miss your meals, you will eventually achieve your dreams. Straight up, you will know if you want your dreams bad enough if you find yourself missing meals and sleep. That's how much it's going to take, plus more! (and obviously, missing meals and sleep aren't for all dreams out there. For example, if your dream is to become fit, then obviously you will be required to get enough sleep and eat proper meals. She was using that analogy just as an example for a dream such as becoming a youtuber, or teacher, or doctor, etc.) So advice to everyone reading this comment: FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS!

Im just saying that I'm trying the best I can and as soon as I turn 16, im going to get my license and drive to the barn and ride him every single day that I can.

    I agree with Lilly, but only to a certain extent. I believe that you reap what you sow, and you are only going to improve if you work hard. However, that is not to say that you should neglect your health. It's important to have a good rest, to stop when you're too tired, and to eat. Besides, if you fall sick, then you're not going to be productive either, right? Think of it this way, there's always going to be someone better than you, working harder than you, more fortunate than you, so it's perfectly okay not to be perfect. And that's saying something, coming from a perfectionist like me. Mediocrity is what you make of it. It's good to have ambitions and have something to work towards, but don't worry too much over it, because there's more to life than achieving your goals. You know, stop and smell the roses once in a while. Aaaand I should really go study now because I have midterms in like 2 days and I am NOT ready. Byeeee

      I think this is for people who are lazy and unmotivated and fall into habits like procasination; and these people really know that and want to be better. They don't want to do things at the last minute and get by in life.
      I don't think this is for people who work hard and are also catering to their needs. I think this is for people who over-indulge and do not have a balance. Trust me, I am one of those people.

    Sleep is kind of important.. It's a need not a want. And if you don't get enough you can't be productive. But with that being said, if you lie in bed until 2 in the afternoon and still complain about how the world sucks, I'm going to judge you.

    • @SatinTiffany23

      well it truly depends on your way of measuring success. My goal is just to be a happy person later in life. And I know that I also need to be productive because that's when I feel my best. I don't see how my comment is 'judging'. I am just stating that sleep should not feel like a guilty pleasure because it is a need. But following her advice, my work would not be at my best (because it would be 2 or 3 hrs. rather than 4 to 6) and I was be unhealthy. I rather be healthy and happy and productive, than unhealthy and miserable and productive. But hey, each to his or her own.

      Jenn X Obviously everyone needs sleep. What she meant by saying sleep is a "guilty pleasure" was not to never sleep, it was to say that in order to succeed and accomplish your dreams in life, you have to really work at it to the point where you train your mind,body and spirit to understand that you do not have any time to waste.I try to follow this motto everyday except on weekends ;)

    Yes you should work hard everyday to achieve your dreams and avoid any excuses, but to do so you NEED to take care of your body. So give yourself a sleeping pattern, eat properly, socialise and explore, because ruining your physical and mental health, is not gonna bring you closer to your goals

    People who're misinterpreting this video need to understand that a wake up call isn't supposed to be sugar coated. If you're lazy and not doing anything to achieve your goals, you need to be told straight to your face. This video is targeted to the people who say they want something or have dreams but are too lazy to do anything, and sob about how nothing goes their way. I always tell my friends to be honest with me no matter how bitter the truth, and I'm the same way with them. If you want to achieve something, it's necessary that you listen to the harsh truth and criticism because it will make you a better person. If you prefer being lied to then you're not ready to go into the real world where no one will sweet talk you.

    • @theamvgirlx
      @theamvgirlx 9 років тому +9

      Nobody said they wanted it to be 'sugarcoated' but all you Superwoman fanboys need to realise that what she's trying to say is good but the extent to which she is saying it is DAMAGING. A lot of people look up to her, how do you think I feel when I see 12 year olds, no, ANYONE writing "Thanks Lilly, you inspired me. Next time, instead of sleeping I'm going to stay up all night to complete my work." or "Oh... I really wanted to be a model but you said I can't eat." Telling someone that if they eat or sleep healthily they're a failure, isn't 'real', its bullshit. BASIC HUMAN NEEDS are not 'lazy' and if you think they are, please, re-evaluate your life.

    i've absolutely adored Lilly since 2012- her life story & videos are a huge part of my life. this video is so important. she's the best person to talk about this bc her success is LEGENDARY and benefits countless people.
    BUT.
    BUT. she seems to be putting health second- which is so wrong! sleep's not a guilty pleasure, but a NECESSITY. we gotta destroy the thought that 24x7 is how you work towards success. NAH. prioritise your mental and physical health, take time to reflect, unwind, ditch the grind for a bit and just let loose. or else you might find yourself having achieved your dream, but the joy of it will be ruined by your unhealthy habits, illnesses and general lack of inner peace.

      Hiranya J you can NEVER be the best. So there's honestly no point in trying, like top in your class? Someone else is going to outdo you.
      I was driven in a family that prompts you to be the best, only do the best. And as a result, I didn't achieve the inner satisfaction that's needed for successes. As a result, I developed severe anxiety and there has been days that I can't do anything but cry.
      I'm merely stating that people should just attempt their best, and even though I still have anxiety about marks, more times than not I am content. And that's why I didn't agree with the message, because if it's YOUR best, then be proud of it. Be happy about it because you have the right to. NOT get anxiety or have a nervous breakdown because someone else is better.

I think it sends a positive message, This kinda video motivates me to work for what I want rather than sit around and wait for something to happen.

    I don't know if the sleeping/food thing was a good message tho. Your audience can be quite young, like myself. And for me, not going to bed till I'm exhausted would mean about 3-6 hours of sleep a day. I don't think that's good for anyone, especially not for teenagers (or even children).
    You can work hard and still be healthy, people. Eat good and regularly. And sleep, for god sake people, sleep.
    Like I get it and all, but being healthy is important as well and with such a young audience you should be careful when you promote such unhealthy habits.

      Lela Errm...I don't think that's what she's trying to say. Try to read between the lines. Basically the point is not to expect anything to fall out of sky. Not to make excuses. That only you are in charge of your success. If you want something, you must for hard for it - that's it. :)

    • @lelafilms
      @lelafilms 9 років тому +2

      missphotography92 Yeah I get that. But that does not change my opinion. I know that she doesn't mean that you should stay up all night and watch YT vids or something. But she did still say that the concept of sleep should feel foreign to you and if it doesn't that you sleep too much. That's just not a good thing too say to such a young audience or to anyone actually. You can work your butt of and reach all of your goals with getting a good night rest. In fact you'll probably do your work better if you sleep enough than when you don't.

    • @missphotography92
      @missphotography92 9 років тому

      I agree with you on the sleep thing comletely. But I still think she kind of said that hyperbolically. You know, not to be a super sleeper and expect success. She tends to exaggerate throught her act. :)

    This video is 100% directed at me and I'm aware of that, but I also know my ways aren't going to change so easily. you see Lilly (lol I'm talking as if she's gonna read this), there's a reason why people operate the way they do. is it just another excuse? maybe. but maybe the real solution is solving the problem from within, first.

    For all you butt hurt twelve year olds, obviously this video was not directed towards you. And I'm by being mean but come on, superwoman did not inted to put anyone down whe wanted to firmly assert herself in order to invigorate those who are unmotivated towards reaching their goals/potential. If you're still in elementary school or middle school obviously you are limited in what you can do, but if you have a dream you desperately want to achieve, and if you want it bad enough, you will find a way to do what you need to do. So stop complaining and crying, you're fine. Just asses yourself and your goals and have that in the back of your mind so when your time comes you can begin to work towards your dreams.

    Last march I got a job and became a (female) security guard since I wanted a better life (better food, buying stuff for my bf, go somewhere) and money for college. Until june I worked 13 hour shifts, 3 days a week(full time job, all day on my feet) while also going to college full time. When summer vacation came I started to also work overtime, approximately 220 to 250 hours a month with 14 to 15 hour shifts (now I observed monitors and got to sit) I rarely got more sleep than 5 hours a night.Did this until august when I got ill and still continued the job like this for 3 weeks. The result? Heart damage after severe bronchitis, constant fever for the last 3 months, constant weakness, I can't even open a carton of juice because I am that weak.I was supposed to graduate this year but now had to take sickness leave from school (we have such thing in Estonia).
    TL;DR Working hard is good, but damn it, don't overwork yourself. Straining yourself to the last limit is wrong and no one should tell you to do it, not even Lilly, unless she will be the one to support you once your body gives in and you are too sick to do anything at all. Love you, Lilly, seriously, but right now you are being stupid.

    Some of the comments on this video are really sad. I suppose its because most of you guys are children, but please understand that you cant live your entire life trying to 'be happy.' That's another excuse for laziness, its completely ridiculous. You will end being miserable. You may not understand it now, but trust us and eventually you'll be thankful. Work hard, play hard and don't give up. She made a really good point: Work as hard as you possibly can to achieve your dreams and THEN SOME, cause chances are somebody out there is working even harder trying to accomplish the same thing. Good luck and don't be a douche! Btw any adults that don't agree with this video need to educate themselves asap and WAKE UP. Feel bad. Yeah.

    Why does everyone call out 12 year olds? I am 12 and trust me I understand things. My dad was an alcoholic and it was bad so we moved in with my grandparents. Here they tell us bad things about us every day, such as "you are the worst grandchildren ever." and more. I want you all to know that some 12 year olds are more mature than others. I want to be an artist for Disney and work on drawings every day once I finish homework. So not all 12 year olds are immature and should be treated with respect.

    • @thaliapeters949
      @thaliapeters949 8 років тому

      +Amanda Frieser Although I'm not twelve anymore, I remember being twelve and the anger I felt at people calling me out on my "immaturity" and "idiocy" if I once let slip that I was not a legal adult. I can't stand it when people patronize or judge other people based on their age, or assume that kids know nothing and can't have big dreams or steadfast opinions just because they've been humans for fewer years. This is a crazy and awesome world, and there is no minimum age to fully live in it. I can't stand it when people use "what are you 12" as an insult any more than I can stand "what are you a fag" or "what are you a hoe". So no matter who you are or how long you have existed, I completely agree that you should be treated with respect and you are free to do and think what you want.

    This video didn't really click with me. Don't get me wrong, I love your videos. Every other one I have watched has been inspirational and hilarious. However, if you want to tell people to work hard, I think instead of "calling them out" you should inspire them to work hard, inspire them to achieve their dreams, not make them feel bad about the work they are doing. Although I completely agree that hard work is necessary to succeed in life, it seems to me that you are shining a very negative light on the nature of life. It sounded as if you were saying the only way to get anywhere is to work all day and night, which I don't believe is true. You need to let it all go and relax sometimes. I'm not saying you should use this as an excuse for not doing work, but it's sometimes good to take a break. You should be satisfied with the work that YOU are doing, and not comparing your hard work to other people's work. If I went to bed every night thinking that someone worked harder than me, it would not motivate me to work harder, it would just make it harder to live my life, not satisfied with what I do.
    So, thank you for making this point, but I just think you delivered it in the wrong way. So many of your videos have inspired me to be happy with who I am, and I hope you continue to spread positivity and inspire people every day. :)

    Some people's goal is to lose weight. Where do you think anorexia comes from? People being too obsessed with their goal they block out everything else!
    I am a huge fan of your videos. Really, I am, but this is not fair. You need balance in life as much as effort and health should be just a high of a priority as rehearsing an instrument.
    It doesn't matter if you have trained 18 hours a day to dance if you are too exhausted to stand. It doesn't matter if you spend every waking moment working, if your lack of food, exercise and sunlight rob you of your health.It doesn't matter if you got top marks in Science if you look back at life and had no friends because you had no time to socialize. A dream is something you strive for, yes, but it shouldn't consume you. It shouldn't be all your care about, your top and only priority. This video made me feel bad. I have something I want to do with my life but I am 14 and sometimes other things come first. I dream of being an actor, but I spend time doing things other than acting. I am not lazy! Are you telling me the night I spent cleaning up several parks would have been better spent rehearsing lines? Or the time I spent consoling a suicidal friend would have been better spent practicing my dance routine? No, I am not that selfish. I am not saying you are, I am saying I am not.
    So that's my wake up call.

    To all those people speaking about health and food and sleep being put ahead of your dreams or ambitions: nope. That just ain't how it works. You are always going to have to compromise on something; the most you can do is decide which it will be. She's not talking about not being healthy, she's talking about prioritization. Wasting time on sleeping for 11 hours, binge eating just because, playing a video game before an exam - these aren't healthy habits, these are excuses. Go ahead, do them, but then prepare for failure. Reward does not come without sacrifice, and sacrifice is not sacrifice unless it actually takes will and courage. It isn't a tea party while wearing rose - tinted glasses. As long as you manage your time, you're not even going to have to push yourself unnecessarily. Don't run after your tasks, but don't waste time either. Then again, you may make mistakes sometimes, but that's the thing - sometimes, not every single damn time. Your work must only be as trying as your dreams are grand. The reward is always all the sweeter for all the hard work put in.
    P.S.: I procrastinate a lot, too. But when I want something - want something as bad as I need to breathe - I *fight* tooth and nail for it. Believe me, it's fucking glorious when you win the battle after that.

    This was actually really motivating. I'm working back to back on UA-cam videos to make people laugh and she's right. I'm not working hard enough for them. Thank you Superwoman for the Wake up call. :)

      Anja Schalekamp Um, twelve year olds have feelings too! If there weren't and any kids in the world, look where we'd all be- DEAD! Us kids are the future generation, if we didn't do anything now, we'd all be adults and have no goals, no dreams, no ambitions! You were a kid once, and if all you did was sit around and eat potato chips- YOU CAN JUST SHUT THE F*** UP! I'm twelve, I already know what degree i'm getting, what my job is going to be, HOW MUCH MY HOUSE IS GONNA COST IN 20 SOME YEARS! People like you p*** me off! Okay, I'm gonna be quiet now before i get in trouble... hehehe, I really AM a nice person, just not when I'm p***** off! Love you all, no hard feelings, just a frustrating day, and I needed to spout. (I still meant everything that I said) (kiss- mch)

    I'm 12, and at first I was like woah, hold up there superwoman. Then I really listened to what she was saying, and this is surprisingly inspiring to me. So thank you, superwoman, for giving me a much needed wake up call. I want to be a cardiologist when I get older, but first I have to get my grades up. Preach.

    "Why are you on UA-cam?" I want to be a UA-camr and I'm watching for inspiration... great job though Lilly! I love your videos! Don't think I'm not working hard though. I literally have half a notebook of notes on microphones, tripods, ideas and silly sketches (I did this over a short period of time). This is on top of after school activities, homework, and working towards other dreams.
