    I recall Tasha getting captured by Graz'zt first as thanks for her trying to capture him. She learned a lot from that and watching him while his prisoner, then escaped and returned the favor for him enslaving her. Then they had hundreds of years of going back and forth and they had this really weird, dysfunctional love/hate thing...

    I kinda like the outside lore behind the spell tasha's hideous laughter where a young girl (named tasha) wrote to gygax and asked him about a spell that makes people laugh. So in my campaign "broken road" while running across various multiverses and well known characters from lore including a very Shakespearian mordenkainen, a mark hamil joker vecna (who was the good guy in the situation) and a tasha based on that child, an immortal 6 year old prankster dressed up as a witch with most of the stories about being simply that, stories or jokes. While Iggwilv does exist as a alternative future (even being a patron/partner to the group's hexblade) with the kid Tasha saying they are two different people (almost treating the hexblade like a big brother). Great video

    My main character is a half orc sailor who ended up becoming a unwilling Warlock of Grazzt. He has spent the last few years researching demonology and specifically trying to locate the demonomicon of Iggwilv in order to destroy Grazzt and earn his freedom. His research is inconclusive as to how many volumes there are, some sources say 1, some say six or seven. I also thought that Grazzt commanded 3 layers of the Abyss not two. My character has gone to great lengths including commissioning an extra dimensional library where he can plot against Grazzt without being spied on, he even has a ghost librarian in his service from the Tiamat campaign. Thanks for the video.

    The module you referenced TSR S4 has all the info on the lantern in it, in fact it is in the "tomb" of Drelnza, Iggwilv's daughter, along with the Demonomicon of Iggwilv. It is a great module, and can be converted to 3.5, or 5E without too much difficulty. I have DM'd this module many times through the years, and I highly recommend it. It has a whole section in the back devoted to new monsters and magic items. I have the original printing, but I also found it as a free PDF online.

    • @daniwerks1353
      @daniwerks1353 4 роки тому +2

      Yep, and it's a ludicrously powerful magic item, like so many AD&D artifacts were. Can Hold, Haste, Color Spray, cause Fear, cause Rage, Flame Strike, cast Confusion, Prismatic Spray, or Prismatic Wall, and, if you use the lantern on a target with 10', they don't even get a save. Also, as I flip through this copy of I've had for like 35 years or something, it's kind of shocking how many things debuted in this module. Graz'zt, Chasmes, Dretches, Marid, Dao, Behir, Bodak, and even the Slippers of Spider Climbing are in here, and none of those are in the original MM or DMG. That's how stuff got dripped into AD&D.
      One of the best parts? There's all this high-powered stuff in the module . . . and it's for level 6-10 characters.

    I'm guessing that Greyhawk and Forgotten Realms cross over to some extent, though being different crystal spheres on the material plane? Mordenkainen shows up in Curse of Strahd and Ravenloft kinda sits between worlds in the Shadowfell. So technically Mordenkainen and Tasha could wind up on Toril but probably stay in the planes/greyhawk for reasons.

      She’s actually become an Archfey and goes by Zybilna and rules over the Domain of Delight as seen in Beyond the Witchlight. She also seems to be possibly edging towards becoming a good-ish person maybe (she’s currently Chaotic Neutral) as while she can still be sadistic and cruel at times, she does seem to be quite protective of children because of the emotion and potential they represent and forbids children from being harmed in her realms.
      It’s an interesting direction to go with her character. Will this be a permanent change? Will she return to her wicked power-hungry ways? Or will this represent a split in her character, swapping back and forth between Zybilna and Iggwilv like a Jekyll and Hyde as it suits her?

    Daoud's Wondrous Lanthorn is a magical item that uses crushed precious stones as fuel to cast light, and can burn for a century if properly fueled. It also had seven enchanted lenses originally, which could be used separately or in combination to cause the light from the lanthorn to produce magical effects, like Hypnotic Pattern, Hold, Prismatic Spray, Prismatic Sphere, Fear, Rage, and Confusion. Tasha also created an eighth lens that could produce a Slow effect. Tasha may have stolen the lanthorn mainly due to a desire to experiment on it, though it's found shining over the resting form of her daughter, who's become a vampire, so she may have thought she could modify it to cure her daughter (or improve on her daughter's vampirism). Three of the lenses have been lost, so some of the effects aren't producible without crafting and enchanting replacement lenses (the lanthorn is a minor artifact and very difficult to destroy, but the lenses are not and have no particular affinity for returning to the lanthorn if lost or stolen).
    Daoud's a hero-deity (basically a mortal who is lower in status than a demigod (who usually has divine heritage) but is becoming a god under the patronage of a full deity). He was a priest of Istus, the Goddess of Fate, and a philosopher-king when he was alive, then lost all his worldly possessions, but gained the wisdom to see through the pretenses of his society's principles and pretenses, and propose a new path based on brutal internal and external honesty, humility, and acceptance of fate.
    Greyhawk has a couple of unusual versions of godhood:
    1. Hero-deities, who become the focus of legend, veneration, or great repute in life and are taken under the wing of a deity with similar interests who essentially vests them with a small aspect of their portfolio to act as a closer-to-humanity patron of that part (so, a Goddess of Fate vests a hero figure with the sub-portfolio of Humility (to accept fate), Clarity (to understand the workings of fate), and Immediacy (to act as fate wills). This is helpful for Istus, as she is a particularly aloof goddess, and Daoud gives her a more accessible aspect/helper).
    2. Quasi-deities, who transcend mortality through means other than divine patronage. Usually they've traveled extensively in other planes of reality, created or interacted with powerful magic, and done other things that push their nature beyond the simply mortal. Quasi-deities, unlike hero-deities, cannot grant spells or answer prayers (unless they are actually present to hear the person praying, which is just regular listening and talking, which anyone can do).
    The main differences between the two are worshippers/venerators (hero-deities have them, quasi-deities may or may not, but often don't) and divine patronage (hero-deities have a deity essentially reaching down to give them a hand up toward becoming a god, quasi-deities don't, and often don't want to, have such a connection).

    The whole "Grazz't was once an archdevil" is still kinda up to debate as to whether it's officially canon. Of course, DMs are welcome to tweak campaign settings to their own liking, so if you want that to be where he came from, it can be so in YOUR personal version of the D&D multiverse.

    I wonder if Gygax or one of the other O'GMs tried to woo a girl named Natasha but her hag of a mother convinced her to find another man, thereby taking revenge upon both of them by immortalizing them within the TTRPG they wrote...

    1. I love Belephoss he seems awesome and possibly a new favorite demon.
    2. Where do I find more stuff like that stat block for Belephoss, is it the Dragon Magazines? If so is there anyway to get older ones?

    • @Jorphdan
      @Jorphdan  4 роки тому +2

      That was part of Dragon + Magazine.
      The older Dragon magazines won't be useful for 5e stats, only Dragon +
      I believe all the issues of the digital magazine are available online!

Just ask, i've everything you need. BTW she's in the gey wastes hidding for her waaay too much powerful ennemies.
