Brother - the Nguni originally only lived in Natal, in fact, Zululand. It was the Dutch who landed at the Cape and developed it. Many years later the Xhosa's got as far as the Eastern Cape and it was the Xhosa impis who chased the Bushmen and the Hottentots out of the Eastern Cape. None of us are lovers of the old National Party but they did develop our country into a thriving first world country. Sadly, the ANC, via corruption, have destroyed every National Department in the country, from the Post Office to SAA, SABC - you name it, they have destroyed it and financially crippled our country. The same scenario will reoccur even if hypothetically you get this so called independence. The recent unrest in South Africa derives from the past ills by the apartheid regime and when they had the opportunity to address the ills in 1994 instead they chose to. sweep it under the carpet. I don't condone corruption, but I don't think that making the Cape an independent country is the solution. The only people who are set to benefit from this independent idea are the wealthy people and not the poor previously disadvantage people. If the DA is the problem in the Cape, get rid of the governing party in the sense of democratic elections.....

In fact I would argue, everyone would benefit because, load shedding will be a thing of the past, road and rail infrastructure will be in a far better state than it is currently and we'll have a much better police force. The Cape have had one of the best roads in the continent, the load shedding is not something that has been there since 1994, but the people have been and still are living in horrible condition in the Cape. The key to alleviating poverty is employment, therefore it makes perfect sense to attract investors so as to afford people an opportunity to become self sufficient. We are already at rock bottom, everything is garbage, from our police, to our unemployment figures, our rail infrastructure etc. Anything is better than the current government and I find it strange that anyone could oppose it.

The violence created by early settlers in South Africa is still the cause of the unacceptability of owners of lands. History is difficult to correct or change when the facts are still there menacing people. You have to find ways to adapt to the system as others in western countries. Owners of the land, South Africans have been seeing the ways their human kinds have been treated everywhere around the world. The frustration is being and getting higher when looking at the welcome of Africans in western areas. I understand the petitioners, but they should observe the time and the history to bring out that decision. The argument from FF-Pluss and Independent Cape is economical. There is no country around the world that is not culturally diverse. I am living in Germany now and in the same block there are nationalities from over 5 countries. It goes back to the main fundamental of the then apartheid regime which they consistently denied it existed even when they were practicing the same.
Furthermore, the issue of creating a new country is different from union of states (AU or EU) which it seem that they are associating SA to, it involves international laws beyond our constitution that they want changed. They should stop telling g people lies and being manipulative.

However Western Cape was a Colony of European nations who stole the land from natives. So it has that connotation behind and no sane African man would allow Western Cape to be recolonized. So continue pushing that mandate and watch the Western Cape be expropriated back to the natives before that movement even becomes a reality. So before colonial times, South Africa wasn’t the ONE country it is today… if it were up to me I’d drop all colonial borders all together and forget the Rainbow Nation project because each region has their own cultural and political preferences that are suppressed by this Rainbow Nation project.

@@surtitus before colonization there weren’t any kingdoms in South Africa. There were juss sprawls of clan villages everywhere that ruled themselves as populations of few hundreds. All the Kingdoms you mention formed after white people arrived. So many of those villages formed into one kingdom in order to fight the Europeans. But in normal status quo we were all hunter gatherers and agriculturists without kingdoms and we knew one another and interacted with one another across the whole South African land. You should read South African history books and you will realise how much of a mess was caused by the Europeans arrival on this land.
The Xhosa people you referring to actually had 9 clans and 3 of those clans were Khoi clans. So the Southern part of the Western Cape belonged to the Xhosas who were pushed back into the East by invaders as the annexed the Cape inch by inch through warfare. The Khoi had many different languages as well. The people from the Eastern Cape Far East - people like Nelson Mandela are not Xhosa he was a Thembu and most of Nelson Mandela’s people had a connection with Basotho because we both share the same KhoiSan ancestry. However, Mandela’s people of the Eastern Cape were all forced to assume the Xhosa identity because when Europeans established provinces they forced each province to speak one language so many people lost their languages and culture through those forced bantustans. There’s a lot of South African history that needs to be addressed. White people might try trick you and tell you that the whole Western Cape is Khoi as if they were distinct. But the Khoi they found in the Cape were the Xhosa Khois. Those very same Khois who intermarried and became Xhosa are recorded from Xhosa History books as “those who come from the North”. As you would know that Nomadic people are only found in the desert everywhere you go in the world. So the Khoi territory is Northern Cape and Namibia.
Khois, Xhosas, Sans and Sothos have been in contact with one another for over 2,000 years and they knew one another and were intermarrying throughout those years. Cultures like circumcision were brought to Basotho and Xhosa culture by the Khoisans. That is why you find that Zulus don’t circumcise because they don’t have Khoisan ancestry. Khoisans had a lot of influence on our cultures because of their artistic nature and their connection with the spiritual world. They brought most of those practices to Xhosas and Sothos. It is the Khoisans who brought the smoking of hemp to us because they knew how to carve a perfect pipe to smoke. So it is the Khoisans who introduced psychedelics to our cultures because they mastered herbs and accessing the spiritual dimension.
Anyways The Coloureds you find in Western Cape are mostly European+Malay+Indo+Xhosa, the Khoi Coloureds you will find in the Northern Cape and you will see how they look. They are distinct. You can juss see Khoi in them without asking. And if you look at those Coloureds from Northern Cape you’ll notice how mixed they are with the Tswanas to a point where there’s not much difference anymore.

the term: Self-Govern. provinces should self-govern, cities should self-govern...
But with a corrupt, incompetent and failing national government that has implemented policies that have everyone dependent on it... That is why the Western Cape wish to secede. (It is not about race, its about taking your future into your own hands.)
My recommendation is the dissolution of the National government to allow communities to form and grow at a grassroots level on the principle of self-governance and self-reliance.
But to keep South Africa together as is without allowing regional autonomy is a death sentence to everyone in poverty. It makes it easier for politicians to provoke a race war. It makes it easier for resentment to foster. It causes an exodus of talent and skills out of our country.
Whenever people discuss WC or Zulu Independence, and they're against it.... I always wonder, they acknowledge the failing government, they acknowledge that it would take a miracle to get rid of the ANC, but they do not want to break up South Africa because we all fought against apartheid.

Did anyone consider the poor Eastern Cape migrant worker who now has to produce paper work (Apartheid Style), to get across the border. You are merely trying to do to the Western Cape, what you failed to do in South Africa. You cannot regulate the movement of indigenous people in this Country, you have no right. Cape Town was built on the back of Black and Coloured labour the indigenous inhabitants of the Area.
