I started looking at Tekton because everyone says good things about them. However I didn't realize how much their prices have increased this year until looking at these vids
I have just ordered their 1/4" ratchet set and ratcheting wrench set. This is my first order and looking forward to using them. If these tools turn out great, I will no longer buy Snap On tools. I am living in Viet Nam now and being able to just send pictures of damaged tools online for replacement is just fantastic.
I discovered Tekton a couple of years ago ... first tool I bought was their 1/2" torque wrench. GOOD quality. Got the 3/8" next, then the 13 pc. ratcheting wrenches, the punches, and the brass hammer. LOVE the tools!
Yes those are the old style the ones I originally had as well. The new ones are way thicker way stronger. Made in the USA and have a striking cap on the handle

I have been buying tekton sockets for a few years now. I discovered them watching someone else on UA-cam. I have about 5 or 6 sets saved on my Amazon wishlist.
You will be happy with it i am sure. I own the 12 inch flex 3/8th and 10 inch standard and have had lots of luck with mine at my place of work as a Chevrolet auto tech.
The Tekton ratchets are absolutely amazing for the price. I have also fell in love with the chrome bit sockets, they are very high quality. I have used some Torx on a 1/4 impact and none have broken. Go Tekton!
Nice overview. In the last year or so as I have added new tools or upgraded, I have thrown Tekton into the mix. A little bit of everything, 90 tooth ratchets, screwdrivers (hard handle). impact sockets, pliers (including locking). All well made. Good quality at a good price. Love those slim 90 tooth ratchets. Unfortunately I added some 3/8 drive impact sockets not too long before they added the stamping. But I haven't had any problems with laser etching on the Tekton or any of the much older and more used Craftsman so I will survive. I really like that they are expanding their made in USA offerings. It will keep me coming back, even if the particular item I need may not be USA made. The company should be supported for that effort.
Thank you and that's great to hear and ya even the older style tekton impact sockets are still great sockets. And I also love the slim 90 tooth Ratchets. I agree. I'm glad they keep expanding the USA tools and are trying to bring more and more to the table.
I just love the tekton hard handle drivers! They feel so 'right' in the hand. I'm kinda hoping that Tekton comes out with a set of thin profile wrenches. Interesting discovery- or I noticed last week. I have had a 6 in one screwdriver in a kitchen draw for years & years. Hey tony. You said something very interesting when talking about ratchet wrenches. You said that 12 point was better for tight spaces than 6 point. All my years of wrenching i never heard that. Why is 12 point better than 6 point for tight spaces? Wouldnt a 10mm 6 point wrench be the same size as a 10mm 12point wrench?
Yes they are the same fitment. Sorry I should have clarified a little more. What I meant was when in a tight space it's easier to get the 12 point on the fastener then a 6 point bc it has more locations around the 12 points to fit on the fastener. Where a 6 point it may not line up just right and you may need to rotate the 6 point a few clicks to get it onto the fastener. Sorry it's hard to explain. And a little easier to show. So I hope that makes sense.
@@willb3018 yes indeed. Much more common with the wrench since most the time with wrenches you find yourself in those tigh situations. Thanks for sharing your thoughts as well
When were you looking at this? I’ve been checking their website for the last month or 2 and they’ve been out of the 6 point 1/4, 3/8, and 1/2 combo set every time I’ve looked.
Never left a comment on UA-cam before. But I couldn't even imagine where I'd be without people like you taking your time to give people like me the insight that takes time, trial and error, and money to have. I really appreciate you man and its awesome to think how many people I'm sure feel the same way. I stumbled into turning wrenches 6 years ago, started running heavy equipment for an excavation company and kinda found myself turning wrenches. Was never really mechanically inclined, but I love learning new things and working on big equipment and dumptrucks really felt gratifying as a young man. But I had no knowledge really, and limited resources so for what its worth I've kinda taught myself. And more than any other resource, these guys on UA-cam have really made it easy for me to learn. I tell all the young bucks, all you have to do is want to learn, you have a vast, if not limitless, library of information right at your fingertips. With that out of the way, I just started buying my own set of tools. I looked at tekton because all I ever grab is the set of tekton impact sockets they have. Beat the hell out of them for the past 6 years, working on peterbilts, excavators, dozers, front end loaders you name it. Never had an issue. But i don't have money to toss around, and even putting together a cheap set of tools is expensive, to me at least. You definitely gave me reassurance that I was making the right choice. And to anybody who's read this far this is my 2 cents if you ain't heard it already. Get as much as you can for your money first, within reason. Then you have options for most things you'll come across. If you use something enough or hard enough that it fails you. Then you can justify going with a more expensive option. Tools for the most part are an investment. I appreciate you guiding us along.
First I want to thank you for your support and watching the video. I also want to thank you for commenting and sharing your thoughts. It means alot and I completely agree with you it's definitely an investment and if they serve you well thats great to hear and if anything ever fails you can always upgrade if necessary. Thank you again and I'm glad you enjoyed.
I also have their folding ratchet it works okay sometimes. However my new Koken 3/8 and 1/4 ratchets will always be pulled first because they're that much better and cheaper.
Hey I seen on one of your videos when you were making the AN fittings for your third GEN I was wondering what adapters you used for your hard fuel lines
Love your videos! Neutral comments that are informative and helpful. Thanks! Been in the business for 40 years and never heard of these. How are their Hex /Torx bit sockets holding up? I have tried s&k, craftsman & sunnex but now only buy snap-on as they hold up best. What are your thoughts?
I know this is a little off subject, but is the DeWalt 204 piece mechanic tool set worth the price? I was thinking about the 243 piece Gearwrench or a Tekton set. Just wanting to know your thoughts before I spend the money. Thanks. Great video.
I think they are all great sets. I really like the Dewalt 192 PC set. I went with it instead of the 204 bc it was 50 dollars cheaper and didn't need the wrenches. And the gw 243 is a great set if you can get it on sale.
Laser etched sockets are pointless IMO . It’s not long and it will lot be readable anymore. I’d rather have larger engraved or stamped numbers on my sockets.
Do Tekton chrome sockets have the same shallow broaching as snap on sockets? Im debating between Icon or Tekton. I know Icon’s broaching is like Snap On since theyre direct copies lol

Sunex and Grey pneumatic make some of the best impact sockets for the price. Can't go wrong with either just be aware of where you purchase Grey pneumatic bc alot of Amazon sellers void the warranty so Grey pneumatic won't warranty them most of the time
@@TonyTheTechnician also which do you prefer the long taper on the Gp or shorter taper on the deeps on sunex? Appreciate your responses thank You so much
They are great impact sockets and priced very will and same with Grey pneumatic. I will say tektons warranty is much better but both are amazing impact sockets for the price
I always heard good things about both of those brands and sunex as well, so i just got a 51 piece 3/8 metric impact set thats 7-22 shallow, deep, and universal for like $125. What do you think of sunex compared to tekton and GP?
Can't compare to Grey Pneumatic but I have some newer Tekton 3/8 drive impacts and they are holding up well. My 1/2 drive are 25 year old Craftsman and I would consider the Tekton on par allowing for the more heavy duty nature of 1/2 inch generally.
I just recently bought their quick release ratchet and swivel head ratches in 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2. I was a little surprised, but I had expected they would be really good quality. First time owning 90 tooth ratchets. I'd like to see them come out with power tools to go with their impact sockets.
♦️Tony - this is a very serious question. Based on several UA-cam videos, including your videos, I have transitioned to TekTon hand tools for most of the tools they offer as I upgrade, and give many of my lower end tools to my children. Top on that list of what I have purched and continue to purchase is wrench and socket sets. I’m trying to purchase more, but I can’t. I’m ready to buy the larger assortment set of deep, SAE + Metric, impact sockets on rails. The website has said no stock, but back in stock in 1-2 weeks. Okay, this has been 8 weeks now. So, move on. I want that 1/4” chrome set on rails. Short / standard, again SAE + Metric, on rails. No stock. Okay, how about chrome 3/8, deep, SAE + Metric on rails? None. Chrome 3/8”, shallow, SAE + Metric on rails? None. Big, deep, impact sets on rails? Had said no stock, now its no longer on the website. I assume they want me to buy the cases then seperate rails then toss away thier case. This feels like a company on credit hold from its suppliers. I understand backorders, that happens, but not on eveything but oddball stuff. I honestly fear investing into this companies tools due to my perception they are close to permidently closing their doors. My question to you Tony, do you have insight into TekTon’s current financial position?
@TonyTheTechnician its even worst then I stated above. I went back, trying to build the 3/8” deep, impact, rail, SAE + Metric set by purchasing separate rails then the rail holder. Can’t even do that without having it be incomplete. Man, Tony, this does not look good.
I will message them and see what is going on. I'm almost sure it had to do with shipments from the companies making the tools bc of everything going on but I'll keep you updated
So I just spoke with them and they stated don't worry we aren't going anywhere it's just the supply issues due to last year is finally catching up with them. They are doing the best they can to play catch up with supplies.
One thing I hate about Tekton is they alway have no-skip sets. At this point I'm done buying 9mm and 20mm wrenches and sockets that will literally never get used. Just give me two 10 mm or two 19mm or save me the space and leave that ego crap out of it.
I love the no skips.
Same here!!!

I always heard good things about both of those brands and sunex as well, so i just got a 51 piece 3/8 metric impact set thats 7-22 shallow, deep, and universal for like $125. What do you think of sunex compared to tekton and GP?
@@jacksmith2315 those are my top 3 go to impact socket brands that I recommend. For the prices you can't beat them. They are all great
Can't compare to Grey Pneumatic but I have some newer Tekton 3/8 drive impacts and they are holding up well.
Very nice and ya some Cordless tools would be awesome
Hey tony, what’s tektons next Made in USA tools? Do you have any idea?
I'm not sure as of yet but as soon as I find out you all will know as soon as possible
@@TonyTheTechnician thanks man keep up the good work!
It seems like it's cheaper to buy each socket set individually. $60 + $75 + $225 = $360. Unless Im missing something, I did just wake up.
I'm not sure I haven't looked at the prices recently. I know it has all went up in price
Shewww, now that Socket and Ratchet set is up to $445!
that is rousseau metal toolbox made in canada
Thumbs up for Texton 💪🏻😈👍🏻. Can’t wait for more USA made will buy
Rhank you and same here!!!
@@TonyTheTechnician than you Tony. I enjoy your videos.
@@DougAlesUSA thank you
So I just spoke with them and they stated don't worry we aren't going anywhere it's just the supply issues due to last year is finally catching up with them.
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching
Good vids
Thank you
Luv ttt and tekton!
Haha thank you
Order me a tekton tool box, ship it to my address and i'll let you do a review on it. :)
Lmao hmm for some reason I don't feel like I'm getting a good deal on this one haha
What a thoughtful guy! 😂
Lol 🤣👍
Stop making tekton videos! I’ve been trying to get the 3/8 deep impact set for 2 months now. Still out of stock.
Lol 🤣👍ya it's hard they have been selling out fast. Hopefully they will be back in stock soon
I'm not a big fan of their socket rails specially on half inch sockets..
