    My grandfather used to trap nutrea and muskrats in southern Louisiana during the 1970s. Mainly for the rice farmers as they would damage the canals and berms. He would skin, stretch and dry the hides and sell them to a pair of Russians in New Orleans. For people that don't know a nutrea is more less a beaver with a possum tail. 30 pounds was maximum weight with 20 pounds being average.
    And it was a lot warmer down there than your beaver territory!!!

    3o years ago when fur was worth the work and effort I took a pair of beaver from behind a very popular ski hill around Edmonton, Alberta. To take him out we tied him to a pole , shoulder him and walked out. With a number of witnesses.to verify the weight and size. He weighed 86 pounds and in order to put him on the stretching board ,I Had to add 10 inches to my 4ft. by 4 ft stretching board to make him fit. He was big and tough. When I remove the beavers jacket he is ready for the board , and clean as a whistle. I enjoy trapping under the ice and don't lay steel until the new year, prime clean fur for the taking, if you can. My daughter was almost 3 and now she is 35 and a cop. God hat happened. haha

    I snared a giant trap shy beaver she was over 70 pounds the scale the guy I knew had a scale was 70 lbs and it buried the pin … and she backed into the snare got snared around base of tail she got tangled up in the sumac trees around the run . She was my biggest I’ve ever caught or seen she was destroying a apple 🍎 orchard . But it’s exciting to see those giants !

    Man that was a tank man great video I've never trapped before but always watch your videos. I've got a few hunting spots where there are lots of beavers man I should invest in a few 330s and give it a try. You make it look easy tho but you explain and show how to do it really good man👍

    The way you go through waders you need to get yourself a sponsor who makes waders. I am sure if you put a good amount of time into securing a sponsor who makes waiters you would have a lifetime supply given to you. You stay safe God bless. 🇨🇦

    That was a beast of a beaver. I’ve only caught around 45#ers, but I’ve skinned several in the 70-75 # range, the things you see skinning at a buyer for 7 winters. Do you skin and dry yours? I’ve not heard you say, if you do, you’re a busy man. Love the videos.

    • @330Maniac

      It is 10' half inch rebar I use for the rod itself. I use the same size for my T bar stake and they are around 36" or so

  • @jenniferlawson9132
    @jenniferlawson9132 2 роки тому +1

    Can I ask ? Why are you hunting them ? Doesn't it tell you that otters only live in clean healthy water. Why are ya hunting them ? Aren't they cool to look at ? Not trying to be ignorant. Would like a Lil education

    • @330Maniac
      @330Maniac  2 роки тому

      Sure they are cool to look at until they take all of the trees down around your lake. They cause thousands of dollars in damage every year to lake property and private property. Otters as well are very beautiful but once again they take a very bad toll on the fish population in many smaller lakes
