It's pretty mind-blowing that the Sega Genesis ever got such a high quality graphic adventure, but this gem oozes its love for LucasArts, and is shockingly close in its quality - especially for a 16-bit console! SunSoft still hadn't yet lost their magic here.
+NintendoComplete Would be great to see you tackle Magical Taruruuto-kun (the Genesis version + both Famicom games). I gave them a shot and they were pretty good all things considered. :)

NintendoComplete All of them are platformers, pretty decent ones at that. None of them came out in the west. MTK 1 and 2 are the most SMB 3-like games on the Japanese Famicom in my opinion. They're very long (each one took me more than 2h to complete), full of different power-ups, level types and dialogue. Even the world maps are kinda similar to SMB 3. MTK on the Sega Genesis is much shorter, but still quite fun. It also doesn't have nearly as much dialogue. :) I believe they're based on a manga/anime of some sort.
Aladdin, Lion King, beyond Oasis, phantasy star IV, sonic, comic zone, Sega had a lot of good titles. They were the console to have till they threw on all those mandatory attachments that cost as much as an snes to get into Sega cd. After that Sega lost, and Nintendo started releasing so many games
This was one of my favorites on Genesis. Was hoping there was more after the Blake Hotel and Ha Ha Carnival. Thought one or two more would be unlocked after you finished the first two.
This is such a fantastic looking game I'm a huge Scooby-Doo fan so when I discovered that this game existed I was totally excited and also happy also on a side note those 16bit renditions of the Larry Marks and Ted Nichols intros herd in the oringal series sound really good
Another great example of how the SNES and Genesis got similar games in title, but the gameplay is much different. I always assumed this game was the exact same game as the SNES version since they are titled the exact same thing. The SNES will always be my all time favorite console, but man, the Genesis always finds news ways for me to appreciate it more and more.
One of my favorites! Managed to beat it without a guide, but there were a couple of things that just had me stuck like nobody's business. For a long time I couldn't figure out how to make the flashlight for the maze and I'm pretty sure getting the dancing bear to get off the beach ball was what caused me problems on the other mystery the most.
Same man I remember I beat the hotel one but was stuck for like a year on the carnival one. I just put the game down and walked away for like 6 months then one day it just clicked.
The magnet On the hammer game! Shaggy went beast mode and show the owner who's boss! Even though this game was a long time ago this Part of the game was always awesome to me
I remember renting this as a kid. I remember not really knowing what to do. I probably didn't really understand adventure games at the time. Only a couple years later though I played Curse of Monkey Island and have loved adventure games ever since!
Me and my mom called the devs of this game for hints on how to finish the carnival. A surprised and happy Dev (game had been out for a few years now) sat with us and walked us through pushing the clown into the lion cage. He was amazed someone was still playing it!
My first thought when I see a sleeping bear: get some springs to hop up and unplug the Christmas lights, then plug in an extension cord instead so I can plug in a battery that I took from a radio, then use that battery to power a heater so the bear thinks it's spring and wakes up from hibernation, then get some gloves to handle some poison oak to put that on the bear...Then the bear will scratch his back on a totem pole and cause it to fall over and thus- make a bridge to the next area! Anyone could deduce that!
I'd fallen out of love with Scooby Doo by the time this game came out, but I put up with it anyhow when I got a chance to play this game, which was a real nice piece of work. Gave me some serious Day of the Tentacle flashbacks that kept me going until I beat both cases.
This is awesome, never knew of this game before. I'll cover it on my new project of compiling all games for genesis. So, is that you winning all these games ?
SNES and Sega had the same game, but god do they play very VERY differently. I had SNES as a kid and play the SNES one, but looking at this game, I rather had play this one.
Austin Kiefer the snes is not the same game. It's garbage in comparison to this game. This is a mystery novel type of game similar to hotel dusk, Phoenix wright, notorary games, etc. The snes game was a mixed genre platformer which was good awful

+Mariusz Bosy I don't know them, what types of games are they?

The summer of 1998. Was enjoying this masterpiece at that time on Sega Megadrive on a very old bnw tv. Best times of my childhood.
Do you still have your Sega Megadrive? :(
5:37, Time for a Scooby-Doo Doors Gag
Another time the Genesis beat the SNES.
The Snes levels are better than this Genesis version.
This was one of my favorites on Genesis. Was hoping there was more after the Blake Hotel and Ha Ha Carnival. Thought one or two more would be unlocked after you finished the first two.
The SNES version has 4 levels, though be wary that the game is pretty much completely different.

This is one case where the Genesis got the better game. The SNES version of this sucks.
I had fun playing the snes because of the storylines and the background drawing is on point. The Genesis version for me wasn't fun at all.
42:50 velma's face
She sees dead people.
Lmao eww. She's kinda lizardy

It was the bumper cars that always gave me trouble at the carnival and getting the maze at Blake's motel
Gosh, I so loved this game when I was a child.
The magnet On the hammer game! Shaggy went beast mode and show the owner who's boss! Even though this game was a long time ago this Part of the game was always awesome to me

Remember waiting patiently for this in the UK and it didn't get released here. Gutted.
Thank you, NintendoComplete. I like Scooby-Doo Mystery (Genesis).
Noah Stewart me too my friend!!
Wish I could be a kid again...
R.I.P. Casey Kasem and Don Messick (the voices of Shaggy Norville Rogers and Scooby-Doo)😔🙏🏼
Why not a Sega cd version with voices?? This Game Looks good!
Nunca de chico pude pasar este juego era re difícil y me queede embroncado hasta el día de hoy pero me lo voy a descargar y pasar esta vez
This game deserves a remake like the Monkey Island remakes.

That’s such an awesome story. They actually met you? Or over the phone?
@@CodingAbroad Back in those days the game manuals had helpline phone numbers that went straight to the company. So it was over the phone
I’m gonna snag a copy of this for the holidays for sure!
The clown was scary as hell
Where were the rest of the gang during all that?
My first thought when I see a sleeping bear:

lol yep ridiculous
The original survival horror game!

I never knew a Scooby game existed for the Genesis and I'm almost 40. 😮

Zoiks!
Loved playing this as a kid :)
The music here sounds similar to Normy's Beach Babe-O-Rama
Both use the terrible GEMS sound driver
I was too logical-minded for this game.
Yeah, these types games were all about lateral thinking.
@@NintendoComplete like the springs?
bumper cars gave me hell when I was 9 lol
I remember renting this game at Blockbuster Video when I was a kid.
The VERY FIRST video game I bought as a kid with my own allowance money! :D
Oh I poured so much of my time in this game on my pc I hope this gem got the love it deserved from fans
This brings back old memories 🥲
Such a beautiful game
Wow, quite unique genre for the console.
Acclaim Entertainment, Inc. Presents: Hanna-Barbera's Scooby-Doo Mistery
When this came out I think it was like $65! Little challenging the Game puzzle
What if...
1: Scooby-Doo: War of the Worlds
2: Scooby-Doo: Secret Wars
3: Scooby-Doo: Crisis on Infinite Earths
"ZOINKS"
5:45 uh oh
is there any other similar games for the Genesis? this kind of point and click graphic adventure
17:34 noo, not the Scooby-Dussy.
What was the olive oil for?
Wow what you do whit the bottle of oil in the kitchen?
If I'm not mistaken this ran on a watered down version of the SCUMvm engine that powered games like Full Throttle and Monkey Island.
Yes, you are mistaken. It's a custom engine written in M68k assembly.
My Mind Is MindBlowed Because A Nintendo Channel Is Playing A Sega Genesis Game
Really good game, but it's a shame that you don't get to hear the characters talk. :(
I do hear them in my head. Scooby and the gang always had distinct voices with their personalities.
You can only do so much with a Sega Genesis game until the limitations start setting in.
This is awesome, never knew of this game before. I'll cover it on my new project of compiling all games for genesis. So, is that you winning all these games ?
+DefinitelyRussian Indeed it is :)
Cast
Casey Kasem
Don Messick
Sad that the SNES didn't get this version of the game haha; this coming from me who enjoyed the likes of Maniac Mansion or King's Quest V on the NES.
I’m just one of those people that does random things for something (to happen).
More than a passing resemblance to Day of the Tentacle… homage or plagiarism? I haven’t yet decided.
I beat this back in the day both stories. This game is way too hard. It took me a long time to figure out what to do in this game.
ScoodyDoo Gcgyunk13
Will ever this game be on steam someday? without hesitation, I'd buy this masterpiece tho. Just to remind myself old days '-'
You can play it online for free
No if only it had voice acting and roland mt 32 sound.
Que recuerdos
Demorei 3 meses pra zerar esse jogo eu ia na locadora todo dia pra jogar

Well platformers are still alive today
I rather play all snes, genesis, and Playstation
I from 1995
Oh man, what a fun classic! I can DEFINITELY see the LucasArts influence too!
Best Scooby-Doo game until Night of 100 Frights.
For me this is the best with 100 frights being the third after the SNES. Scooby is just more appealing in 2D
