Do everything in this video + clean your grooves after every shot + use a very good ball. Even if you never actually use this shot in a round, just practicing this technique for a few hours during the year will make you a better chipper around the greens

A few short years ago I had finally gotten down to scratch. Since then I've played maybe 4or 5 times a year the past 6 years. It sucks to know i once was able to pull off all the shots inside 90 yds and not be able to now. Losing the knowledge and feel for these shots happens way faster than i ever imagined. These videos have been a blessing for me. I don't really care if I'm ever a scratch golfer again but I do want to play well enough that my 6 yr old will listen to me while I'm teaching him to play. He has recently been bitten by the golf bug and the most fun I've ever had playing golf is with that little guy. The best feeling I've ever had playing golf is last week we played 9 holes and somewhere in there he looked at me and said "you're pretty good at this game dad". Anyway, i enjoy your videos because they've helped me to be able to enjoy golf again. 👍

Excellent drill Matt. Something I will definitely practice. It seems like a safer shot compared to a flop shot too.

Patty Dodero Remember he’s hitting these with a 62 and the ball is going barely 8 to 10 feet high. A normal strike from that distance with a 62 and the ball would be twice that high. The shot can also be hit with gap wedge or pitching wedge pretty effectively if you want an even lower trajectory

Its rhe best shot man, its super accurate imagine throwing a dart at a dart board...theres a reason pro dart players don't lob their darts at the bullseye...for hugh you have to take in trajectory as well as direction and landing spot, and the roll is inconsistent sometimes it rolls out others it just dies, if you slide underneath the ball goes nowhere if the club face is too close you hit it too far from trying to swing harder (because ur assuming the clubface is open)...only go high if you have to

  • @larryd4352

Great tip for all of us trying to lower our handicap. I never thought of using such a high lofted club for that shot, I usually use my Gap Wedge for my low spinner's. I will try it with my Ping Zing LW the next time I am on the practice range.

Also my home course is country club type course tight lies beautiful fairways cut daily greens are fast and soft . I can’t get off the tee so my scores sucks but I’m great around the greens is the Pro V1 still king of spin on the greens be honest sincerely your new fan

@@kennethramsey5957 Its not so much a question of skill but of practice and risk appetite. If I have a 30-35 yard pitch with limited space to land and stop it, I can either hit that shot or try to hit a 40 yard flop which in my experience is WAY harder to pull off than this shot. Just got to keep your hands low and moving left a bit back in your stance with an open club face. Its really not as hard as it seems.

"It's not a sales pitch... but be sure to click the links below!" 🙄 I get it, but the more you go out of your way to monetize every opportunity you can (a lot), the less is seems about "us". A lot of other channels can help *without* shoving ways for you to build income down our throats. "Like, subscribe, ring the bell" is usually plenty for those truly invested in helping viewers get the most out of content... you get revenue _just_ for people to watch, maybe focus on *THAT* more than getting the people that do show up to line your pockets with their affiliate money instead.

Heck, on this example you have here, I could run that ball up onto the green with a bump and run six iron. Your videos are usually quite useful but you are stretching it a bit with this one.

So I kind of figured this out on my own as a way to control shots that need to stop quick without hitting a high risk flop shot. I heard people talking about hitting spinners so i looked it up and have been doing this on my own for a year. Goes to show you that you need to spend way more time practicing shots inside 100 yards than you do hitting driver and long irons. You learn stuff just from tinkering based on the needs of your game.

  • @1DCCX

Keeping hands low flattens the lie angle and squares the face whilst having an open leading edge, bounce exposed.
You say steep but it looks on plane. And allows downcock to rip those grooves. Not rotating it over is important.
I hit out to 100 yards like this, just widen stance, match the backswing and follow through lengths, less open but still open.
    Love your strike, really clean.
