All I know is, Normani scrapping out Motivation as her lead single was a big mistake because the song and the video was a perfect way to let the world know she was here to stay!
I don’t think it was a big mistake bc it didn’t commercially do well as expected not to mention that wasn’t the sound Normani wanted to do she’s more appreciative to the song’s music video she was basically forced/encouraged by RCA records to do motivation. Any Normani fan knows she envisions her authentic sound to be a mixture of dark pop and alternative R&B, plus wild side would end up becoming more successful than motivation and has the dark pop meets alt-R&B sound that Normani desire so it was smart she scrapped motivation
I disagree bc at that time she had no clue as to what her artistic direction could be. She didn’t even want to put Motivation out as she felt it didn’t fit her. By the time Wildside came out, she had taken the time to solidify her artistic image and direction. And of course Wildside performed much better than Motivation.
Work it Out being Beyonce's first solo song will never not be funny. Imagine her being in an Austin Powers movie now, absolutely not. I think Work it Out is pretty good but Baby Boy and Crazy and Love were just so much better and definitely fit the vibe of Dangerously in Love
I need to find where I read this from, but I also remember seeing somewhere that her and her team were indecisive about which Jay Z collab to push from DIL and almost went with That’s How You Like It over Crazy in Love. Just imagine how that would’ve gone 😭
@@pettyking1621Actually Naughty Girl was supposed to be the lead single but Beyoncé pushed CIL instead and the label said yes at the last minute. The label didn't believed in Dangerously in Love at first let alone in Crazy in Love. They thought the album had "no hits" and that Crazy in Love sounded "too dusty" and "old" bc of the horn riff sample from the 70s. That's why she brought Jay-Z for the urban/hip hop appeal. And it obviously paid off and she proved them wrong
I just thought Work It Out was just part of the movie soundtrack because it's basically inspired by the movie and the vibe and era, but I have to be a in a mood for me to listen to it. Definitely Baby Boy is probably one of my favorite Beyoncé song. Dangerously In Love is a bop for sure.

RCA sounds like a terrible label to be signed to, I've only heard bad things about how they treat their artists, from Doja to Miley to Avril. They genuinely almost killed Avril's career after TBDT. During TBDT, they made Avril scrap the more rock direction of the album and paired her up with Dr Luke (who was already a rapist at that point) to make the more poppy record it ended up being. Then, when she wanted to make a more stripped back, vocally lead album they didnt let her release it for 3 years and forced her to release pop singles that were extremely different from the rest of the album.

Please do a video on problematique, kim petra's scrapped album! It had some of her best songs, a collab with paris hilton and great visuals. Some songs are even going to be reused for her newest album...
I think Selena was just experimenting at that time, in an interview about Fetish she said that she thinks of those songs as ''droplets'' like standalone singles, but definitely some songs from that era ended up on Rare. Selena performed Feel me on Revival tour a couple of times, she teased kinda crazy in an instagram post back in 2016, rough rare (song) leaked in 2018 so yeah no one really knows about that alleged scrapped album
I’m so impressed u mentioned Work It Out! Not a lot of people know that was her first single. I (personally) love that song. I did read the comments and I agree that Crazy In Love was a better way to introduce her debut as a solo artist… regardless… I love WIO
LOVED Work it Out - even though I felt it could have done with more bass in the production. It felt like a stand alone single, because Madonna had done Beautiful Stranger as a stand alone for Austin Powers before that. I totally get why Crazy in Love is a way better intro to a debut artist.
Loved the video! Wish you had talked about Lady Gaga's The Cure. That song was so randomly released and then like an year later there were around 5 songs with similar sound and same producers as that song on the A Star Is Born soundtrack. What's weird is that those songs were barely in the movie, I don't know if it's confirmed, but I always thought that they were intended to be part of an album.
You are hilarious for the Motivation callout, because I was like where is Normani? 😂. You are right though. There isn’t enough details to figure out what the era would’ve been like. All we got was Motivation and Bad to You I think.

I wish Selena incorporates some of her dark pop in her upcoming album and not gonna lie I am actually looking forward to sg3.
Me too! She said it's gonna be a more up-tempo dance album than Rare
@@rw6218 she considers it 3 because her first album was not under Interscope Records so she didn’t have a lot of creative control.
focus was one of the best pop songs that ariana grande has made . it’s so catchy and i love the focus on me .
bad liar , wolves , fetish , it ain't me , back to you are all so GOOD, 😭
Selena just released music (It Ain’t Me, Wolves, Bad Liar, Fetish, etc) and called them droplets so she can experiment with sounds and release songs without having to worry about releasing an album. She said it’s more fun
So why didnt she experiment with the album after like she did there?
@@JasmineBurnett-pd8bz I’m assuming she wants to stick to what she likes and knows for her albums, like other artists they experiment and drop side stuff also to see how it does. Hope that answers your question
@@LawLeeP0P yes thanks, its a shame tho she could really be taken srsly as an artist if she kept experimenting like that
Britney releasing Mona Lisa for original doll. That will forever break my heart we didn’t get it. But we got some from the chaotic EP and my prerogative greatest hits album
You are always serving looks! New hair, new styles of clothes than the last uploads...always gorgeous. Props. Love your videos!
Thank you, this is so sweet ♥️
Just a minor tip;Dangerous Woman was also offered/written for Rihanna.
I know! Just saying Carrie was who it was made for
It would’ve been better for Rihanna 🤭
@@YoureDone96 absolutely not, how tf is Rihanna supposed to sing that song😭
@@YoureDone96 it would be cool to hear her version but idk it just fits ariana so well i can’t imagine anyone else pulling it off.
@@bratzscene3131 Rihanna raspy voice would eat that upp, dont play
Massive attack STILL gets stuck in my head, its so catchy
Slide Away is one of my favourite miley songs its just so good
Saaaame I love it
It’s crazy because Kelly was the most successful coming out of destiny child. Her single with Nelly and a Grammy. The sabotage of it all .
Tinashe’s Joyride lead single was supposed to be Player feat Chris Brown but that didn’t end well and she took chris ass outta her record. queen behavior
Please do a video on problematique, kim petra's scrapped album! It had some of her best songs, a collab with paris hilton and great visuals. Some songs are even going to be reused for her newest album...
I’ve just found your YT and I love how you do what you do. Going to go down a rabbit hole and watch all I can, it’s so good. ☺️✨
Thank you so much 💕
I love your vids much- literally always check on your page for a new vid!
10:48 not the national anthem 😭😭😭 girlll iconic
there should've been an album for Bad Liar and Fetish, those songs are my favorite from Selena
I think Selena was just experimenting at that time, in an interview about Fetish she said that she thinks of those songs as ''droplets'' like standalone singles, but definitely some songs from that era ended up on Rare. Selena performed Feel me on Revival tour a couple of times, she teased kinda crazy in an instagram post back in 2016, rough rare (song) leaked in 2018 so yeah no one really knows about that alleged scrapped album
loved this video!!!
I still want digital distortion 😭😭😭 mo bounce and switch are 🔥🔥🔥
I never knew Focus was meant to be the lead single for DW/Moonlight. I always saw it as a standalone single (made mainly for Samsung).
I always thought that song was for a Samsung advertisement😭😂
This is a great video!!
I’m so impressed u mentioned Work It Out! Not a lot of people know that was her first single. I (personally) love that song. I did read the comments and I agree that Crazy In Love was a better way to introduce her debut as a solo artist… regardless… I love WIO
I’m not even a member of the beehive and I even remember her episode of “making the video”
Work it out is still my favor song by her
@@BlkbunniOrg it's a great song! I'm not a beehive member either.
LOVED Work it Out - even though I felt it could have done with more bass in the production. It felt like a stand alone single, because Madonna had done Beautiful Stranger as a stand alone for Austin Powers before that. I totally get why Crazy in Love is a way better intro to a debut artist.
I thought Jaguar Wright lied about “Work it Out”; I didn’t realize the song didn’t chart AT ALL. Also, I loved Massive Attack. It was my jam.
Sorry for offtopic but you look absolutelly gorgeous in that green colour!
Thank you ♥️
I wish Beyoncé kept the curly afros thru out her whole career
that selena scrapped era,,, my soul died with it
Same and my interest in her music and career
I love Massive Attack and Focus
You are hilarious for the Motivation callout, because I was like where is Normani? 😂. You are right though. There isn’t enough details to figure out what the era would’ve been like. All we got was Motivation and Bad to You I think.
i knew yall would question the lack of Normani mention so i had to get it out there lmao
Found Miles Cyrus’s lost album ‘down with me’ on SoundCloud, n I’m glad you put me on it. Love finding hidden treasures like that, and the album is pretty solid. Side note, miley and her ded petz deserves better
2017 Selena was Everything ❤️
JLo’s Louboutins being released, promoted as the lead for Love? and then completely scrapped is probably my favourite 😂
One word: Normani👀
Also, a lot of people think Video Games was Lana's debut😬😬😬😬. This one doesn't exactly fit in the video but it's hilarious to me.
Summer 2019 was the summer of false starts clearly
Loveee your channel ❤
Iggy definitely deserved to dropped in 2016 she was HOT and while she was loved/hated that was definitely the time to try
She always served with visuals
all in all, I'll take Focus over Problem lol
I saw Beyonce and her look from the Work it Out video lmao
I wish artists would at least put the songs on a streaming platform somewhere even if they never acknowledged them again. I would love to hear new songs from any of these artists even if they don’t fit their current style
Selena album on that era would've eaten so hard she was in her peak artisty, but her healthe comes first of course I'm glad she is doing better
Great video!
