Update: viewer deanolium below explained that "Balderdoush" name comes from swapping the 'ou' in Boulder and 'a' in Dash! Mystery solved!
Also was curious to know more about why this game seemingly ripped off the C64 graphics, and it turns out there are 2 releases of this: 1.04 and 1.04i, where the ‘i’ version has modified graphics (which is the one I played in the video). It's unclear if this version is official or an unofficial hack, but interesting how widespread it is.

I never really consciously considered how many classic Mac games had that one-screen enemies/objects instructional screen. This, Crystal Quest/Crazy, Solarian II, Space Invader, I think Slime Invaders, definitely others too. Something about that grid of sprites with short explanations just flips a primordial nostalgia switch now.

It’s really cool to see someone testing the version of BalderDoush with the improved graphics and sounds I did back then. As back in the days only a few people had internet access I wonder how this version found it’s way to old software archives…

I remember playing this game on my LC I think. Looks pretty sharp, surprised they didn't get sued as First Star Software is still is in business. A licensed version of the real game was actually released for the Intellivision only a few years ago.

The name is just swapping the 'a' from d*a*sh with the 'ou' from B*ou*lder, nothing more.
Looks like a pretty close clone of the C64 game. The key with the boulders is that if there's just ground beneath them, then they won't fall sideways. However, if there's a boulder beneath them, and then there's a space to one side and another space below that, then the boulder will fall sideways. Later levels requires you to intentionally make the boulders fall through use of this to either make space or to kill enemies.

The first hit for "Azeze Turlu Toi" is another Baldur Doush video so yeah, probably gibberish

I found this in 1996 on a shareware compilation CD called Arcade Madness.

I remember my dad playing this on his SE/30 and I was disappointed it did not run on my SE. I think it needed a 68020+. I vaguely remember him writing a letter to the author requesting a 68000 version.

What a shame! But I read on the Garden that the overhead for the sound effects is pretty steep. But I'll try it on my Classic II and SE/30. Color Macs aren't my thing - except for maybe the original Mac II.

There’s even a boulderdash clone for the Atari Portfolio called Folidash.

Also, in French, "douche" simply means "shower".

I had a DOS version of this game called Heart Light. Actually I think it was a port of an Amiga game which was a ripoff of Boulder Dash 🤔 Anyway, it had a little gnome instead of a cat, and absolutely epic music! This looks like it's just as brutally challenging in the later stages.

With that kind of name I would expect this game to appear in the show like The Simpsons

The dialog box is definitely not French. It doesn't even look like gibberish or anything that's supposed to look or sound French.
