I buy and sell the occasional classic car one every 3 to 5 years, the last one I sold - a 1959 Chevrolet Apache was for £19k and to a man from southern Ireland, it took 3 weeks for him to transfer £14k to my account due to EU money laundering laws which he paid for, and the final £5k was paid in cash on pick up, when I paid this in to the bank I was given the third degree about cash and made to feel very uncomfortable by the bank, who advised me not to accept large amounts of cash in the future. I think now my card may have been marked.

We have central banks. Every sovereign nation practically has one, and they work together to keep the financial system stable. They underpin the entire global financial system. Conservatives are so low information they can't understand the perfunctory basics of money or finance.

It is true . My Aust bank ( the largest in Aust) states in terms and conditions they can do searches of customer's social media account. Who gave them the right to invade my privacy without a warrant? This should only happen through law enforcement with a warrant based on strong suspicions of criminal activity.
We live in a free country. You cannot be forced to use a particular bank, and they cannot be forced to have you as a customer.

You do have a right to a basic account ...its in the financial regulations which were inherited from EU rules. They also state that you can't be discriminated against because of political beliefs . A bank though has a right to judge what individual may cause them reputational damage.

Bank should not be allowed to close your account full stop . and government should come hard on this issue if these bank are very happy to make money out of British people they should be forced to provide services and if they struggle to do it they should be kicked out full stop no ifs no buts
Maybe its time for 'customers' to check the banks: Does your bank have an ESD policy? Well, time to go then. Here in Australia it is starting to get ridiculous, not being able to access your own money; a lot of people are leaving the big banks and moving their money to industry credit unions and getting better deals with better service!

Why hasn't the government stopped banks doing this straight away. Why is it still not sorted? The government must pass a bill so all people are entitled to a bank account unless involved in criminal activity. Compensation must be paid by the banks and all closed accounts re opened.
