Thank you Matt, Defense was on the field way too long. George Pickens out didn't help, Elliot out. Trading a possible touchdown for field goal due to a personal foul. They beat themselves. I'll give them a little more credit. It's time to win the Division ! Great show matt
Nah. We shut down the best rb in the league. Eagles just so happened to get their passing game going while we missed Elliot... whole dif game without a naj fumble who never fumbles. Our offense without gp struggled against a great defense. Like how are yall so upset??
@SleepG-fd2ew okay I mean you can argue that he shouldn't have been taken in rd 1. But you can't argue that he's been very reliable and pretty much singlehandedly kept the steelers relevant on offense for the end of big ben and through our trash qb cycle... 1000 yards rushing every single year. Absolutely over worked him. Yea I'd say ur wrong. He's definitely not a bum. We ran the guy into his grave... not his fault.
Yes, the Eagles are a better team, but anybody that says that game would not been closer without those penalties does not know what they're talking about!!
@JackSlatersPontiac most those years we lost in the first round we were coached in by tomlin. Any other coach wouldn't have even made it to the playoffs in those cases. Quit crying
Everything about this game felt one sided. The officiating, ball bounces their way, Steelers shot themselves in the foot. Man the Najee fumble killed the game.
The game was very close. With the difference being the penalties killing good drives. And the Najee fumble. Normally nobody secures the Ball better than Najee. All that really hurt the Steelers. And yes the horrible tackling sure didn’t help. But had the Offense had a few more scoring drives. The Tackling wouldn’t be such a big thing. I don’t think you will see it play out the same. For the rest of the season
First off... I am demanding that they stop those freaking pitch outs To Harris. He gets one and two yards uh carry. Also uh good idea when the running game sucks is put in Fields... That's what the hell he does...RUN. You put him in and he runs for a first down and then you forget that's what the f*** he did. He could have been moving the chains with his legs and then we could have controlled the clock. I'm not saying he's the total answer... But we possibly could have controlled the clock, Instead of them.
The lack of WR talent was evident this game. EVIDENT, and when the O-line can’t control the LoS (especially against Elite Fronts) we get what just happened. We lost the game in the trenches and everything else followed. This wasn’t Canada, this wasn’t a bad Tomlin game, we just got beat. Regardless the future is bright, and I’m still excited to see where this team goes this year
DK was more optimistic in his appraisal than you Matt, but I totally agree with you. Domination was the word that was on my mind the entire game. It was so obvious who the better team was....unfortunately. Although I chose to be optimistic before the game, I give you credit for an accurate prediction. You even came close to getting the score correct! Love the show Matt!
Matt please give me your thoughts. If I'm a defensive coordinator and I know an OC LOVES to run on 1st and 2nd. So I practice run defense all week , and put those schemes out there every 1st and 2nd down. Want that make my job easy as a DC? NO GUESSING just play against early downs
Steelers waited way too long to implement a impact WR2. All season long we knew that was missing for this offense to maximize its potential. You can't get rid of your #1 or #2 reciever without having an ironclad plan to replace him. Omar and company did a wonderful job this off season but they waited too long to finish the job and now we're paying for it.
Couple of thoughts from seeing the game in person. Number one- Jalen hurts played well, no doubt about it but the amount of receivers that he hit that were wide open was just insane. I saw eagles receivers running wide open from the beginning of the game to the end of the game. Number two- something needs to be done about the early game offense. It feels like game in and game out. The offense goes three and out. Maybe that's just a feeling, I'm not sure. However, going up against a team like Philly, you can't put your defense in a bind to start the game. You need to come out with a game plan and get some first downs, and that did not happen. There was no type of gel with the offense for almost the whole first half, even when they got the ball in the redzone from the defense. The inconsistencies of this offense are going to be its downfall and it was shown in the game today.
Everyone needs to relax our number one receiver was out one of our best defenders was out. It’s easy to focus on the run when there is no deep threat we loss but we shut down the best running back and considering our defense was out on. The field way to long because our lack of making first downs we were still in the game . If we wouldn’t have had that fumble we were definitely headed for scoring and I believe that put the nail in the coffin!!!
A lot was exposed in this game: Play calling again( you noted the 4th & 7 punt!!! How @ the swing pass to 84 on 2nd dwn in that series!) Defense -zone and M2M both were scorched! Even in zone Hurts is able to run! -Tackling was especially bad -OLine is a real worry Hopefully there are lessons here for players & coaches bc both were below the line.
Arthur Smiths play calling is PATHETIC!!! PERIOD!!! He has no creativity on offense! None!! How do I know this he can’t get this offense going until 2 QTR or later! Why because they have to run the ball when the Oline is Mediocre and your playing the best defense who obviously knows you going to be pig headed about running so put 8 in the box and then go 3 and out in the first two series to start the game! Then Tomlin always says it’s doesn’t matter how we start? Really? You aren’t going to beat the big dogs in this league coming from behind with no Pickens and No use of Mike Williams who you traded for. Teryl Austin is equally as bad on the defensive side of the ball. This coaching just doesn’t come up with anything creative or surprising. It’s just awful to watch!!! 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
How many of Big Mike’s coordinators can you ridicule before you realize that this is the ugly style the head coach prefers to play. There’s a reason he hasn’t won a playoff game in almost a decade . His style of coaching leads to 9-10 regular season wins against bad teams and nothing past that
This division is going to come down to the games versus the Chiefs and Bengals. Not confident about the Baltimore game with all the injuries.... especially one to Watt and the one to Pickens.
Hate to break it to ya Matt, the goal this year isnt to win the Super Bowl. We’re simply not good enough to match up with the Chiefs Bills Lions and Eagles. Not even close
You don't know football. And yes the goal absolutely is the superbowl. Eagles are definitely our worst matchup. (Especially when they conveniently figure out how to pass again) we match up against the cheifs MUCH better than the Eagles and lions for that matter. You can't argue that. Why are you even trying. We match up worse against the bills than the cheifs but not to the extent as the Eagles. And we were a naj fumble (who never fumbles) away from a close game. YOU ARE WRONG. Stop being so dramatic.
Eh.. Steelers D quit after punting on 4th and 7. Game was over at that moment. Not gonna worry about stats that happened after that. Najee fumble and punting on 4th and 7 ended the game. Steelers were in it.
So I guess we stop all that nonsense of spreading the ball around to 10 different receivers and the blocking at the position as if it's a good reason why guys who should be 3rd or 4th on most depth charts are logging so many snaps. I'm curious how many routes Williams ran and how many he was the primary target
Yes. Any time any team plays on a Thursday without a bye week in the previous 2 weeks they play 3 games in 12 days so this Wednesday game is just 1 less day. Which I get that even the Thursday games are tough. But this really isn’t some insane unprecedented schedule timeline wise.
@@zeusthedrumlord547 Right. I think it’s being made into a little too big of a deal by some. The other teams that the Steelers are playing against are operating on the same timeline. They are all good teams, but the schedule can’t be used as an automatic excuse to lose all of the games.
@@cmdc778 also following the Wednesday game they nearly get another bye week, not to mention if they take care of business against the ravens their starters *should* get an extra week off against the bengals. Realistically this Baltimore game is EVERYTHING.
I listen to a lot of post game commentary and analysis. What I am starting to realize is " This platform for Matt helps him verbalize his 'fears and opinion' when it comes to the steelers. Instead of just saying that the steelers had a bad game, Matt tends to exaggerate the lost and compound it with stats, just to justify it. If Matt can't say it simply, then I'll say it. It's not that bad. We're still okay.We just need to win next week to have a home game in the playoffs. Matt 😌 relax
Win the superbowl? lol. This is a second tier team. We cannot beat the big dogs oh and by the way we will lose in Baltimore. Najee is and has been a disaster and I’m not even talking about his fumble. Slowest RB in the league.
@@isaiahbarrett5452yeah people either love hyperbole or don’t truly realize how terrible Canada really was. Smith isn’t a great coordinator but he’s absolutely an nfl coordinator. Canada was nowhere close.

We lost the SB because of the officials I feel you!! But not getting off the field was your biggest problem!!
Several pieces missing and Harris fumble was the game.
This is a consistent problem year after year with our secondary scheme. Always happens late in the year including playoffs. Just get picked apart.
Bro. It was simply a bad game. Against our toughest head to head matchups in the nfl. Calm down

The pitch out to a running back with no speed. Our lack of Wide Receivers talent!
Our run game is horrid. Other than that, Steelers just lack playmakers. You gotta have more dudes who can make people miss than Pickens.
Yep. They had way more than enough time to replace diontae with someone worth something and refused to just go out and do it. Rare Omar miss.

Tomlin didn't care about this game - hence that dumb punt.

Real simple to see why they struggle. Every defense is at the line of scrimmage on first down because they’re 99% sure it’s gonna be a run.

27-13 isn't a blowout
It might as well have been. Look at the time of possession
Najee is gone or move him to fullback
