I’m reading this book for pleasure. every time I finish a chapter I will return to this channel to see the analysis of it because Dostoevsky"s books are kinda difficult to read. This is so helpful thank you much
The only reason Dostoyevsky books are difficult to read is because they are boarding, incoherent, lots of dialogues and monologues filled with discriptions that are totally unnecessary. But once you read one book you will get the idea for the rest and they all look alike. Honestly this guy is overated
So in chapter one he questions why he thought of murdering her and gets introduced to the idea there is no villian. He goes to the bar and meets and man where it begs the question the value of standards. Do standards matter? Should a rich high class lady marry and bum like marmaledov. Class usually separates us like Romeo and Juliet but sometimes values and standards are what prevents the mind from normalizing some disgusting things like alcohol or even murder :0
I don’t know what I would’ve done without these videos. Found out about this channel through school and To Kill a Mockingbird, another classic, and now this one. Great job, guys!

It makes me feel dumb haha. Nice to know I’m not alone
You're not dumb, it's just not your kind of text you're usually exposed to. Different cultures, different centuries.
This is exactly what I’m doing😂
I was confused by character names caz they are Russian and i am bad at remember names as it is
Same omg
I'm from Russia. it's so unusual to study our literature in English
languages are just the means to communicate. literature is universal. They don't discriminate. There's a tons of good literary work in Russian.

Morning Sir....I'm from India and I like your videos.....🇮🇳🙏
I am from belarus trying to read the book and I am not very familiar with the 1800s russian so this really helped me
