This gives me the energy of sitting on the end of your friend’s bed during a sleepover and listening to them explain some complex video game lore while you watch them playing Kingdom Hearts and I love it.
Your one of those people who definitely said "I could do a whole essay about this" then actually just straight up proved it.
Shit, I've never been a shipper of them, just love both groups, but all this story feels SO real to me, 'cause I totally behaved just like Pete did. I had a very short but intense and somewhat unresolved relationship with some guy and it messed with my brain in a very similar way. I was obsessing, overthinking every little moment we had together, writing dramatic posts and desperately trying to get his attention again and again. I was a mess and it all meant almost nothing to him. One day I felt like it was over and the very next day I felt like I missed him so much I couldn't even breath. It took me 7 YEARS to stop having these feelings. Three summer (yeah me too) days together, seven years of deep longing afterwards. I feel for you, Pete, I feel for you.
My theory, based on my experience and on the facts from the video: Mikey and Pete had (supposedly) a brief, but intense and highly emotional affair, which ended kinda abruptly. Maybe they even had no sex, just a lot of flirting-touching-closeness-wakinguptogether-willwe-wontwe. I guess the last days of the tour were quite busy, so they had no opportunity to come to any clear conclusions. But Pete started developing (or already had) a lot of feelings, and Mikey just... didn't bother. Or he decided that they had no future but to be "ex-friends till the end". Whatever. The important part is he stopped being all touchy-feely and set some boundaries. Like "yeah, you're a good guy, we can be friends, i guess, but the past is in the past". But Pete got kinda stuck in the past, 'cause this is what happens when you have some unresolved feelings. You relive your memories again and again and again... and, if you a poet, and Pete IS a poet, you write about it. A. Lot. till you can't even think about "what-if"s anymore.

Listening to the new album right now and it's already full of content to unpack. It has lyrics like "I spent ten years in a bit of chemical haze" (song is kinda about drugs but NOT ONLY) and "So let's twist the knife again like we did last summer". And these just what I got from the first listen.
Omg I never thought about the song as being Petekey before…
And now that the albums released, there’s So Much (For) Stardust, there’s lines like “we thought we had it all”, “I think I’ve been going through it, and I’ve been putting your name to it”, “I used to think it’d all get better”, and perhaps the biggest one “in another life, you were my babe, in another life, you were the sunshine of my lifetime, what would you trade the pain for? I’m not sure”
And lyrics in the other songs like Flu Game, “last night I dreamt I still knew you, I carved out a place in the world for two, but it’s empty without you” (that whole song is Petekey now that I realize it-)
i never liked to ship real ppl, i always thought it was rlly weird especially saying my classmates would ship me with my friend which made both of us uncomfortable, but this literally has 2 much information 2 back it up on. It makes to much sense

Happy fourth of July! Last night, FOB played Bang The Duldrums live, the night before that Mikey Way played Pete's bass on stage. I've been a fan of FOB for some years now but never really went down the Petekey rabbit hole until right now because the evidence is evidencing. Thanks for the explanation :)
I've been part of the online petekey community (basically us devoted fans right here) for nearly a decade now and I literally mean this next part with all my heart: Pete and Mikey are the biggest love story I have ever known imo. Seriously, I never meant anything more. What really killed me exactly 5 years ago on this day (happy birthday mania!!!!) was when I first listened to Bishops Knife Trick, that song fcking broke me because it reflected literally !!!everything!!!!. Pete keeps breaking my heart whenever fob drops new music, because it's so easy to put the pieces together after all these years and with all the (very obvious) evidence we have. The Sweet Little Dudes have a gigantic place in my heart, whenever the temperature rises outside and the seasons change from spring to summer, I think of the Summer of Like, and (nearly) every fall out boy song takes me back to warped. I love you Mikeyway, I love you Peter Wentz.
The amount of heartbreak my man Peter Kingston Wentz the third went through due to some twink that it lasted a DECADE is crazy. If I loved someone like that and that happened to me I would probably also write about for 10+ years
at 38:21, "kaleidoscope eyes" is a song sung by panic! at the disco on their vices and virtues album from 2011. in the chorus, there's these lines: "kaleidoscope eyes sparkle at the world / my emerald city downtown girl", which. mikey way has heterochromia, so his eyes are literally green and brown "kaleidoscope" eyes. also, "summer's on its deathbed" is a line from another panic! song off the same album called "the calendar". "the calendar" contains the following lines: "pray I could replace her, forget the way her tears taste", "put another x on the calendar, summer's on its deathbed / there is simply nothing worse than knowing how it ends / and i meant everything i said that night / i will come back to life / but only for you, only for you", and "anticipation's on the other line / and obsession called while you were out". both songs also reference cannibalism, but, like, with this sexual/romantic context. also, the song "electric touch" off of taylor swift's most recent album (her re-release of speak now) featured fall out boy and had the lines "i've gotten used to no one calling my phone / i've grown accustomed to sleeping alone" and "all i know is this could either break my heart or bring me back to life / got a feeling your electric touch could fill this ghost town up with life". the idea of, like, wanting someone and "coming back to life" for someone is present in both "the calendar" and "electric touch". that being said, while credited as a writer for both panic! songs (and multiple others on the album, which is a really good album, and i don't endorse brendon urie but i do endorse all panic! at the disco music from before 2016, so you should listen to vices and virtues on youtube so you can also experience the bonus tracks) pete wentz was not credited as a writer on "electric touch", and, as far as i can tell, the only member of fob that actually had anything to do with "electric touch" was patrick stump, but it's enough of a connection to feel relevant. anyways. that was my contribution! loved the video

Electric touch was written entirely by Taylor Swift (Speak Now is designed to be an album with songs written 100% by Taylor so I doubt Pete had anything to do with it especially that this song was written in like 2008-2010) and is propably about Joe Jonas (Im like 99% sure). It features FOB mostly bc Taylor was a fan 🤷

the most embarrassing fact about me is that the petekey lore has been my spin for over a year.
i put this video in my watch later a few weeks ago, and i end up watching it start to finish two days after mikey way plays with fob during so much for (tour)dust. the impact from this video eassy after having seen those videos of them publically interacting again after 6 years on top of the agony of not being at any of those concerts really takes the cake

I know this comment is over a year old now, but I also have to amend that Miss Missing You is likewise not a Petekey song. It was penned by Patrick during the hiatus, when he was working on Soul Punk, and it’s explicitly about Pete. Patrick has discussed it in a commentary track and in interviews.

so i just saw FOB live and i haven't been a part of the shipping/emo trinity fandom for maybe 6-7 years, but this video got recommended to me and despite the fact that back then, i was wayyyy more into panic!, twenty one pilots and then into the girls more (halsey, marina, melanie, lana etc), this has really brought so much from when i was 14 to 15 years old, even though i never cared much about FOB and MCR as much. at twenty-one years old, i think it is time for me to revisit my emo phase full on, and this is the scariest realisation (and i am so ready for this rabbithole to start again)

no because i've been a casual fan of fob ever since i was 12, but i never really got into their lore. then, when i was 15, my first major breakup happened and fall out boy singlehandedly got me through it, specifically infinity on high. my go to songs to bawl my eyes out were bang the doldrums (ofc) and fourth of july (because me and my ex had literally started officially dating on the fourth of july lol). during that time, i started noticing a pattern in the songs i was listening to the most, (like miss missing you, i'm like a lawyer, irresistible, i've got all this ringing in my ears, etc) and that got me into the petekey rabbit hole. i think the reason i'm so attached to this story is, i see myself in pete and my ex gf in mikey so much. we had one perfect, glorious summer, one seemingly calm autumn and half a freezing winter. then she dumped me and got with someone else just as spring was starting, and i was left there, still not over her, trying so hard to pretend this all meant nothing to me, that it was just a typical teenage summer fling. two years later, i'm pretty much over it, but most of my art and writing is still about my ex and that beautiful, shining summer we shared, so very young and intense. peter lewis kingston wentz III, no one understands me like you do 😔🙏
