My family loves Minnie's Character Breakfast, mostly for the fact the we've never had one bad experience with discussing food allergies with the chef. Plus, the characters are great. I love the regular mickey pretzel, but prefer to purchase specifically from the Refreshment corner. They aren't as hard/dry there lol I can't have Dairy so i tend to just eat it with mustard. Wish i had a chance to try the other options before my dairy sensitivity got so bad. Growing up the mickey ice cream sandwich was my favorite thing to get before leaving on the last day of our stay. Jolly Holiday is my favorite place to get food. The Toasted Birria and Chimney Sweep Coldbrew are my favorite. The Raspberry Rose Macaron was a must, but the last time I visited it didn't taste the same. I heard that Jolly Holiday is going to be refurbished starting Jan. 7th without a reopening date. I hope it's open by the 70th celebration.
I’d heard a few people say the raspberry macaron has changed recipe, but I haven’t gotten it in a while with all the seasonal stuff taking my attention. I have looked into the closure, and I’m hesitant to make any sort of guesses considering I was wrong on just about every guess where Bayou Country into play. 🤣 But I’d be shocked if this closure was longer than 2 months. Hungry Bear was closed for 4 months, though, but it also got a retheme. So we’ll see. It will DEFINITELY be open by the 70th. Disney won’t want anything closed for May 16th unless it’s something they can’t avoid.
I went to Disneyland this Halloween Season and managed to get reservations to the blue bayou restaurant. I shelled out the money for the $55 steak and I’m not one to spend that kind of money on one meal. But I gotta say it was probably the best steak I’ve had and I’ve had some of the best. It was cooked PERFECTLY and it’s huge. It comes with some of the best mashed potatoes I’ve ever had. This can easily be shared with 2 adults and fill both up. My 7 month old couldn’t get enough of the mashed potatoes.
@ everything… 😅 we’re going for 5 days so we are stopping by most of the popular restaurants. My wife really wants to do brunch at lamplight lounge though
@ It returned January 10th last year. But with the closure in January that won’t be happening this year. We’ll have to see if it’s on the menu when it reopens (whenever that may be).
Remember to be kind to these cast members during the holiday seasons! It can be very stressful and most don’t get to spend the time with their families to make sure we can have a good time. Must be hard.. You even have a cast member crying in the beginning of the video 🥺❤️🩹💔
Good advice for any profession. Though they get holiday pay. My husband works in plumbing and it's the same. Especially because we celebrate the Biblical Holy days so we rarely get to spend those times together. Not really recognized by work places. It's hard when people expect discounts too because he's commission based and spending special days at work where he's expected to get less (via most customers). Though we are blessed with some kind folks that recognize this and will tip well. 💕 We were at the resort for Christmas which was a blessing because it's also Hanukkah this year, but it was funny how people freaked out about it and to us it being Christmas is not a big deal. We just hoped it was less crowded and enjoy the lights. My husband isn't home most nights in time for Hanukkah time, doesn't get Pesach/Passover or Sukkot off for Jesus' birth and the holy day of Sukkot itself. Things like that are unfortunate but it's what has to be dealt with if you're not your own boss. Hopefully soon he can start his own, but even then his work ethic is that he won't not help people he's training during that time. So most weekends we spend a lot of time waiting for his business calls to end. It's a pretty thankless job overall. I appreciate what you're saying and just hope this gives added perspective. Most people get Christmas and Thanksgiving etc off....for people that don't celebrate the mainstream holidays, we feel overlooked a lot. Blessings 🙏🏼
I would love to see a video on tips for solo traveler! I have a magic key and my fiance got a new job so he will be working a lot more and that means solo trips to disney for me! I've never done solo trips so I'm a little nervous but definitely excited to have fun at the parks at my own pace!
I read somewhere that they *should* but it's not on their menu. So you'd have to ask physically at the restaurant. Disney is usually very good about accommodations for special diets. But DOLE Whip is dairy free, so there's that!
@ partly that and he would say a bottle of water is like $5 so drink it here when we kid enough for the Monty Christo. Plus what a good sandwich I’m glad you can get it other places as well
I recorded the menus and the seating areas a week ago, everything else was gathered over the course of the last 1-2 years, but a good chunk of it is food from this year, and I did my best to only include items that are currently on the menu or are likely to return again in the future.
@@GreggWatkinsJr Not that I’m aware of. How long has it been? I can’t recall them ever having bread bowls (at least as long as I’ve been making these videos, 2 year or so). Bread bowls are at Refreshment Corner, Royal Street Veranda, and Harbor Galley.
@@needanap2needanap232 That’s what I’ve been getting lately. A pineapple/strawberry swirl. They’ve had Watermelon and Cherry as well over the past few years. But I still miss the raspberry.
@@PuzzlesC4M It’s not, necessarily. But the vast majority of people don’t have access to DOLE Whip where they live. And frozen cups from a grocery store aren’t anywhere close to the same consistency. You’d need a place that has a soft serve machine.
@@psychchick86 it’s only gone because Jolly Holiday is down for refurb right now. But the macaron is still available at Gibson Girl. And it will return to Jolly Holiday when it reopens.
Of January? I'm not sure there'll be a whole lot of difference in any of those dates given the holiday week. In general, Tuesday-Wednesday is still the most solid time to visit. However, Saturdays tend to be better than Fridays, Sundays, and Mondays because Saturdays tend to be the most expensive day, and certain times of the year all but the highest level of annual passes are blocked out on Saturdays.
Hi So Cal Dad. I'm from New Zealand and have literally just been to Disneyland. Had an epic time but missed out buying accessories for our droids at the Droid factory. Is there any way you could help?? Please. So gutted we didn't see them.
Google "Disneyland Personal Shoppers", there are a lot of people who are willing to buy and ship product all over the world. I'm sure there's a premium involved beyond the cost of the item and shipping, but it might be something you're willing to do!
Usually they add some seasonal items once Christmas ends. Lunar New Year starts a week later after that. We’ll have videos covering anything that does pop up for both just new foods and Lunar New Year.
This video will be watched all year long. I can’t include refurbishments in the video because it won’t be relevant in a month or two, and this video will be watched for 10 more months after that.
Everyone has their own opinion! That's perfectly okay! It's also possible we were comparing them to the "old" recipe. I can't confirm it because we aren't that "sensitive" (not sure that's the right word) to food, but some people were claiming they changed how the gingerbread's were made, then switched them back again, and you could tell by the color of the buttons on Mickey or something. So it's possible were comparing it to the "bad" recipe (which was still good, but perhaps not quite AS good?)
I haven’t harbour gallery, but I did try a Mickey gingerbread cookie this season and it was not the best year. It was thicker than previous years and dry. It wasn’t as flavorful as previous seasons as well tbh and I’ve purchase this cookie multiple times during g the holidays for the last 15 plus years. I didn’t even want to buy extras to take home because it wasn’t worth it. I was shocked and sad but I had heard the rumors. Hopefully it was a bad batch.
I think you got lucky or you just prefer the flavor of gingerbread. 😊 I love gingerbread but we got two and they were dry. Good but dry. The harbor gallery is always great for us! 🍪 Perhaps you got a switched experience?
For sure. My family got the chocolate chip a few times and they are always pretty awesome. I love gingerbread but we got two this year and they were both just sort of dry and bland IMO.
Replying to everyone who said they got a dry gingerbread, was not my experience at all no dryness. Sorry for the peeps that did I can't imagine how that would even taste. I didn't like the way the taste of the harbour galley gingerbread cookies were they just were not as tasteful as the Gingerbread Mickey for me.
I went to River Belle Terrace in October 2024 and ordered the loaded fries. The bbq sauce on the brisket was face melting spicy and made my experience there unpleasant. I am not a complete wimp with spicy food, I can handle a bit of it. This was not “family friendly” spicy. I’ll skip this one in the future.

We were at the resort for Christmas which was a blessing because it's also Hanukkah this year, but it was funny how people freaked out about it and to us it being Christmas is not a big deal.
Blessings 🙏🏼
need one for lunar year in DCA
For sure! We're going on January 18th, and the Lunar New Year video will be out on Sunday, the 19th.
I would love to see a video on tips for solo traveler! I have a magic key and my fiance got a new job so he will be working a lot more and that means solo trips to disney for me! I've never done solo trips so I'm a little nervous but definitely excited to have fun at the parks at my own pace!
That one is on my docket of things to do!
@SoCalDisneyDad awesome!!! can't wait🙏
This is a very comprehensive overview! Does the Gibson Girl icre cream parlor serve non dairy options?
I read somewhere that they *should* but it's not on their menu. So you'd have to ask physically at the restaurant. Disney is usually very good about accommodations for special diets. But DOLE Whip is dairy free, so there's that!
Yeah for 2025 planning videos 🎉🎉🎉 my dads motto for blue bayou was to drink at least 5 cups of water and then all the food is “free”
Because you're so full you aren't ordering anything. 🤣 You could get away with only ordering the gumbo like that.
@ partly that and he would say a bottle of water is like $5 so drink it here when we kid enough for the Monty Christo. Plus what a good sandwich I’m glad you can get it other places as well
When did you film this, Traver ?
I recorded the menus and the seating areas a week ago, everything else was gathered over the course of the last 1-2 years, but a good chunk of it is food from this year, and I did my best to only include items that are currently on the menu or are likely to return again in the future.
Any chance we can meetup at the food festival in March I’ll be bring the kids for the first time and it’s kind of a work and play related trip for me?
Does Golden Horseshoe salon in Frontierland still have a bread soup bowel? I sure love getting that when I go, if not Thankyou. 🙂
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thankyou so much for your time and help. 🙂
I wish I could've had strawberry Dole Whip!
@@needanap2needanap232 That’s what I’ve been getting lately. A pineapple/strawberry swirl. They’ve had Watermelon and Cherry as well over the past few years. But I still miss the raspberry.
Well, now I’m hungry! 😂
Time to book a Disneyland visit. 🤣
Waffle cristo sounds good. How is Disney Dole whip different from Dole whip anywhere else?
@@PuzzlesC4M It’s not, necessarily. But the vast majority of people don’t have access to DOLE Whip where they live.
And frozen cups from a grocery store aren’t anywhere close to the same consistency. You’d need a place that has a soft serve machine.
Yum!😅
Is the Raspberry Macaron still available at Jolly Holiday bakery? I heard a rumor that it's gone.
@@psychchick86 it’s only gone because Jolly Holiday is down for refurb right now. But the macaron is still available at Gibson Girl. And it will return to Jolly Holiday when it reopens.
@@SoCalDisneyDad Thank you!!
Is it still true that weekdays are more busy than weekends? Looking at either Thursday the 2nd, Friday the 3rd or Saturday the 4th
When we first tried the blue milk I think it was closer to $6. Good thing money and calories don’t count when in Disney 😅
The prices have gone up soooo much over the last few years.
Do you know if there will be any new food for the beginning of 2025? Will it start with the Lunar New Yesr event?
Usually they add some seasonal items once Christmas ends. Lunar New Year starts a week later after that.
We’ll have videos covering anything that does pop up for both just new foods and Lunar New Year.
Can you please let me know the added tax percentage so I can convert to Australian dollars for food budget

You need to mention Jolly Holiday closes Jan 6, 2025
This video will be watched all year long. I can’t include refurbishments in the video because it won’t be relevant in a month or two, and this video will be watched for 10 more months after that.
Grade: A+
First 😊
👍
It might just be me but the gingerbread Mickey was way better than the cookies at harbour galley, sorry Trevor.
🥰🥰🥰😍
I went to River Belle Terrace in October 2024 and ordered the loaded fries. The bbq sauce on the brisket was face melting spicy and made my experience there unpleasant. I am not a complete wimp with spicy food, I can handle a bit of it. This was not “family friendly” spicy. I’ll skip this one in the future.
Great video, thank you!
