hi i saw on your chart there are only few colors listed can you show all the colors. also im looking for a basic skin tone color as im glass painting a character. which color do you recommend for like a basic peachy nude color thank you
Thank you for your presentation. I have used the transparant orange Pebeo Vitrea 160 on glass that is in my shower wall. I wasn't able to put it in the oven of course as I painted the glass which was already in the shower. What would you suggest I use to paint over my painted glass now to protect it? As it's in a shower it will frequently get wet and also will need cleaning to remove soapy water.
Great video, thank you. I would like to ask your opinion about a few things. First question: I would like to make a stained glass panel and use glass paint for details. do you know if the colours will fade over time when placed in the sunlight? Second question: Do you think it is wise to use UV varnish to preserve the colours, if that is possible? Thank you!
Thanks for this great tutorial. I'm interested in experimenting with either pebeo porcelain 150 or vitreo 160, but have not been able to find a comparable video that demonstrates their transparency. Can you help with recommendations? Thanks.
Hi, thanks for your question. I tend to stay away from Porcelain 150 paints as, as far as I know, they are opaque paints and therefore not something I would use on glass. (Here is a video from Blacks ua-cam.com/video/oIeg0ZTN7fs/v-deo.html) ) I have reviewed the Vitrea 160 here: ua-cam.com/video/LO5rH3cg-IM/v-deo.html & there is a small project using them here: ua-cam.com/video/oTgALt1g65g/v-deo.html Hope that helps.
Well thank you so very much , sitting here in a winter snowy scene , trying to summon up the courage to use these fabulous paints ! Thanks to your easy no fuss style I will indeed but will start with a colour chart " These paints are waterproof etc arent they no need for ovens etc thank you so x
You are very welcome. I hope you enjoy your painting. Can I recommend our course if you haven't done this type of painting before (it's free, no sign up or anything). www.glasspainting.co.uk/glass-painting-course
I Got a Problem. I painted several glasses, they did not smell. Maybe a bit while painting, but after drying the smell disappeared. But then it changed. I stopped painting, because, the smell won’t disappear anymore. It’s terrifying. It doesn’t matter how long I let them dry or how the weather is, it stinks! Any advice???
Thank you for the kind comments. There are different types of outliner for different jobs. You might find this article helpful. www.glasspainting.co.uk/glass-painting-questions/are-all-glass-painting-outliners-the-same
NOTE: You're going to get a different effect between the thick Plastic you're using than Glass... a total difference... I'm glad I watched this, I didn't know it would look that good on Acetate/plastic.
I did once get a different finish. That was when I used a cellulose based glass paint on the "wrong" type of plastic. I've never had a difference with these Pebeo glass paints andI've tried quite a few different surface. The main different seem to depend on whether you are painting a flat surface or a curved/upright one. ith the flat one you can use the flood fill technique which you can't do in other situations.
Can you paint other colours on top of the dry paint? I used to have some glass paints you could do this with but I have forgotten the make as it was years ago and I am now reviving my interest in this medium. Thank you.
I've had mixed results with that. Some colours were OK whilst others creased up even though I gave it a couple of days between coats. My idea was to use double coats in some areas to give it an appearance of shading. It is something I shall return to when I get a bit of time.
Hi! C when you get the paint on a surface like lead strip, will it come off with white spirit when dry? Or is it best to clean up as you go along? Thanks so much
Much better to clean it up as you go along. Cleaning agents can spread it around. You can also find that some of the cleaning agent may get onto your work and ruin pars you have painted. When I'm working with adhesive lead I tend to keep a cotton bud to hand and that deals with any paint I want to get rid of on the lead. (Only the lighter coloured leads are an issue. If you are using Ivory/Black lead then little bits of transparent paint on it don't show nuless they are the solid white).
I have a question... So I bought these paints because I want to color (tint) clear jars with a single color. I have heard and read that mineral spirits and acetone can be used to help thin out the paint and make it more fluid so the solution will spread through the surface of the container. Is there a good ratio out there to use when it comes to mixing and coloring (tinting) with these glass paints?
Hi, I'm not sure I can be too much help with this question as it isn't something I've tried! I've lightened the colour using the clear but as that is the same thickness as the other paints it doesn't make it any thinner. Pebeo recommend "a small quantity of Vitrail thinner or odourless mineral spirits and stir thoroughly". Having never tried it my self I can only suggest adding "less" seeing how it is and then adding more if neccessary. I certainly wouldn't start with something more than 5-10%. Do you intend "swirling" the paint around the inside of the jar?
I'm about to start a large window painting project with these paints (biggest window is 17sq ft) but haven't had the chance to use them in person yet (I am in India and the paints are in the US). How much coverage should I expect from one 45ml bottle? I probably will use the lightener quite a bit, but want to know how much paint to order. Thanks for such a helpful video- any other tips you have for working with them would be great!
Hi. Good luck with your project, I'd love to see some photos of it when you are done. You might like to watch the two videos we have of using this paint on doors and windows although we don't work directly on the glass as I've always found it difficult to get a good finish like that. (unless you can get the glass out and work flat).
I will be working on the windows flat before they're installed in the wall. Do you find mixing colors gives you muddy results? I'm trying to decide between ordering the small 45ml bottles (lots of colors) or trying to mix what I need from the bigger 250ml bottles (fewer colors, but more quantity). The windows are going to be color studies, so I'll need precise colors. Thanks again for your tips- I've looked around a lot online, and while there's lots of "how tos" I can't seem to get much personal experience in how the paint works, which is what I'm looking for!
I've never had an issues mixing colours EXCEPT when using black or white which tend to be more opaque than the others. Having said that things will differ brand to brand so it might be worth either asking the distributor or buy a small quantity of paint to experiment with first.
Yes, sorry, some of the "camera work" in these earlier videos is a bit suspect. We've now changed to using two or even 3 camera as you will see in the videos we've produced in the last couple of years.
I only just discovered this product online and this video has proved most informative. Thank you.

Thank you for sharing
this great tutorial ....
Thanks for the information. Any chance you could use a light board, please, so that viewers can get a clearer idea of the effect?

The “cloudy” as you say is actually a moon paint. I believe your set were a variety of paints.
agreed also they show the transparency of the colors on the side of the colors, so you know how much you need to lighten it up.
