Here in Australia the era of the owner-driver is over. Its now a 48 hour week with an hourly rate paid regardless of load and distance traveled. There are rest breaks every 4 hours, after 12 hours, and for three days after ten days, so there is plenty of time for maintenance. Most drivers are employees on salary now, so the onus is on the trucking company to keep the truck busy. That means you will be allocated a different truck sometimes. Salaries for long distance truckers here range from $85-125k pa and more if you are driving B Doubles or Triples. For ultra long distance routes, trucks are double crewed to cover the distance quicker. Its usually 4-on 4-off in cycles of three. Then a days rest. You cannot drive more than 12 hours in 24.

Tuned 12.7 Detroit blow to much smoke. Especially that one. I saw him get on it and the blow by tube smoked as hard as his stacks. Gotta throw way to much fuel at them to make them pull worth a damn.
Do you run “steer” tires on your drives if so how well do they do in the snow I’ve thought about doing that for a couple years but I’ve always been afraid of how they would handle in bad weather
I think they technically consider steer tires as all position I knew a guy that ran them pulling a dump trailer but I never really talked to him about it since I didn’t own a truck at the time but I’ve heard they help with fuel mileage over traditional drive tires
How tall does your trailer sit with that high rise fifth wheel man I want to put some half fenders on my truck but I need a high rise fifth wheel but don’t know how tall the trailer would sit
