AIM has broken it down quite simply for us: don't put boots on the ground, keep doing the socio/ infrastructure projects that benefits the locals in general without interfering in their political play. All in all providing them money and arms without direct interference is a win win for all!

There is a quality grande and may be a tank . Some night vision in Handheld Thermal Imagers too. Will be effective in Afghanistan, I presume. We may have given money in the past but we can now give working weapon systems and if Abhijit is correct find some good Taliban. Spend some $500M over next 5 years on some Indian weapons systems and see if we get some tangible influence. If nothing else it will supports nascent Indian Defence Private sector. We seem to loosing it in Afghanistan after spending multiple of what I have suggested here. Some more good money ....

AIM, surely you may have read Hsuan Tsang(xuanzang)'s book which details his journey to India in 600 AD and he passed thru afghanistan which was fully/ largely Buddhist at that time. Wonders never cease.
Afghanistan fell to Islam in the 10th century. It was an important stop in the Silk route and hence an important center for trade and knowledge share. You raise a great point on researching the history of “Upganasthan” and then teaching it to the Afghans to remind them of their true identity.

I would love to read a book by AIM on the Taliban issue in Afghanistan. I am a Gen Z individual. I indeed know very little about geopolitics. If I try to know on these issues, I would have to go through the improvised Western ideas or the typical Indian ideas about the crisis in Afghanistan. I would never get to know the real truth or the complexity of the issue. AIM 's book, on the other hand, would let me know the real issues out there. I am really keen to know. So, I would love a book by him, on this, any many other such things.

If Taliban is a mentality in Afghanistan not a group of people, who see establishment as crooks or foreign occupation on them. India trains Afghan army which is part of gov. how does it sits with talibanis? (given that they know ind is possibly training their adversary)
Somewhere in 2010 I read Taliban chief commander interview by Indian journalist of week magazine. He told Taliban has no problem with India, he said he loves India but not Pakistan. So this guy abijit could be right.

AIM, surely you may have read Hsuan Tsang(xuanzang)'s book which details his journey to India in 600 AD and he passed thru afghanistan which was fully/ largely Buddhist at that time. Wonders never cease.

Afghanistan fell to Islam in the 10th century. It was an important stop in the Silk route and hence an important center for trade and knowledge share. You raise a great point on researching the history of “Upganasthan” and then teaching it to the Afghans to remind them of their true identity.

I would love to read a book by AIM on the Taliban issue in Afghanistan. I am a Gen Z individual. I indeed know very little about geopolitics. If I try to know on these issues, I would have to go through the improvised Western ideas or the typical Indian ideas about the crisis in Afghanistan. I would never get to know the real truth or the complexity of the issue.
AIM 's book, on the other hand, would let me know the real issues out there. I am really keen to know. So, I would love a book by him, on this, any many other such things.
