For those of you who don't seem to get it, George-to-the- Rescue helps Middle Class Homeowners...the LOWER middle class. They own their own homes and are the ones who are sort of making it but needs that extra help to continue on. The ones who could falter and drown in debts trying to fix those problems otherwise. Our country's middle class is largely taken for granted and forgotten and are getting squeezed out. They need help too. Maintaining, and even expanding the middle class segment of our country is good for the health of our country.

Everyone needs help - this guy is serving the community with no thanks and appreciation - i think that is deserving of getting something back
It shouldn’t be compared to worse of families but better yet, see that the family would be better able to function with this renovation

    • @dianemoonstone4715
      @dianemoonstone4715 5 років тому +4

You're absolutely right. George helps Home Owners...the LOWER middle class homeowners. They're the ones who normally don't get noticed and helped but they are our country's backbone. Anything that benefits regular folks is for the betterment of communities and of our country as a whole. More good families need to continue to exist for healthy neighborhoods to function well.

Our basement is worse... crooked stairs with no railing and the sewer pipe crossing through them, stone walls with crumbling mortar, holes in the stone walls part cement flooring (uneven levels) and part gravel where a previous owner's cat peed and pooped in... spider webs... I HATE going down there to do laundry. I'm afraid of falling down the stairs...

George, I love all that you have done. However, I truly hate to be a "downer, but the only thing I would have changed is that I would have placed the laundry room sink closer to the washer as there are times when you want to rinse or pre-wash something and then pop it into the washer. With so much space from the sink to the washer, a lot of water (or dirt, or what have you) would have landed on the counter top before reaching the washer.

The thing is that nowadays, there’s so many incredible fabrics & sealants that can withstand the rough & tumble of kids, pets, etc.😄 My Hubby & I have three cats & a baby, but we were able to find good rugs & furniture built with durable materials so we haven’t had to sacrifice our esthetic. That’s probably what the designer looked for.🤗

Or, people aren't doing any upkeep on their homes and letting them go to hell. We have homes still standing over a 100 yrs so it isn't because good homes couldn't be built. Nowadays, it's put them up in under 90 days and move on to the next. My family built homes back in the 60s, 70s, and 80s. The people who bought them took care of them and they're still looking great. One of my dad's homes was hit by a tornado. The four outside walls were laying flat but still intact and attached to each other. That's wouldn't happen with modern homes. The home in this family could be many decades old and no one has made the effort to properly maintain or update the plumbing and electrical so it deteriorated.

@@ronifae8286 Many basements are in a very bad shape, you se that in most programs, like they (the houses) are just being set on the ground and that's it....I don't make fun of your homes over there, I've been there 3 times, but many basements are totally unfinished as well as attics....I've noticed it so many times. A good thing could be that they finish the basement completely. Another thing is, that here in Europe most homes are made in bricks or concrete....and I don't say that all homes over here are in a perfect condition. So let's agree that we're having a different view into this....ok....take good care

Our home is only 16 years old, yet we have spent a small fortune maintaining it. So many today would rather spend their money on vacations, eating out, or fun. Homeowners responsibility hasn't been taught or shown to those who need to learn it. So when they go out to buy their own homes, they inherit the mess. I remember the mortgage crisis. People were able to get a house who had no business doing so. Today, too many people buy more house than they can afford. Buy 20% monthly payment of your bring home after being able to put down 20% so you don't have to pay PMI (Private mortgage insurance), then set aside another 10% for maintenance. Once you have your 6 mos of your total monthly expenses put away for an Emergency Fund (real emergency like sickness or loss of job), and are putting 15% away for savings (after paying off all your debts except mortgage), then you can go on a vacation or have money for fun/eating out/partying. It's what adults do. It will keep up your property value, and show that you care that others don't inherit your irresponsibility. It is also loving your neighbors. We are all in this together. The American Dream is still alive and well. Your greatest wealth builder is your income. The debtor is slave to the lender.

That basement really was scary, especially when they found the poop pipe leak :/ EEEK
Makes you think these renos happen right after the people has moved in, cause how can they live with that, it wasnt fit for humans down there
    Also
Man cave, disregard the crayons... AND the girly white sofa, (colourful kiddie furniture, wife coming down to do the laundry) Lol

Well, technically it wasn't a poop pipe leak, but the gasses from the sewer vent. Almost as bad! LOL

@@84953 Well ok, that makes it better... NOT. LoL :P So....goes without saying but again... Eeeewee.... ((insert pong on the nose emoji if there was one, holding nose and squinty eges or runny red watery ones)) then they only had noxious gas fumes down there, LOVELY !!

Yeah, I'm well aware of this. I was just trying to be funny. How about adding the smell of mold and mildew? This reminds me of a situation many years ago working with a youth mission program in Appalachia. Our center (where we resided during the week) was an old high school. There was a sewer vent opened into the locker room where the showers were and there was indoor/outdoor carpeting on the floor which was wet and full of mildew and more. We ended up either capping it up or making a crude alteration to it to vent the gasses elsewhere. That didn't take care of the mildew however. LOL

@@84953 Oh yeah... ? Again eeew, fantastic little story, thanks for continuing to gross me out!! Lol, but not to worry dude thats ok I know you were trying to bring the humour, I was too, Im a bit of a clown (sometimes?)
My sense of humour encompasses many styles & you may not always tell Im joking from say the dead pan style, it may not translate that well in written form (apparently its the hardest medium for comedy and only few possess the talent for it) you really have to see my face and the expressions I make! (Thats possibly why my brother has always found it so amusing to tease me...MY WHOLE LIFE!)
And, as you may tell, I get "grossed out" quite easily, (so keep up with the poop pipe analogies and I will come after you!! Haahaah)
But Im all about the laughs & the humour bud, its all goode

He has a young family. It would be mighty selfish to dedicate all that room, except for the space for a washer and dryer to just him! Now the white sofa - I agree with you on that (but not that it is girly; but it doesn't belong in a family room, man cave or not). Wife coming down to do the laundry - in his man cave! Please! He got his giant screen TV. She got an updated laundry room. I'd trade in a hot second!
