- The MN Rochestra performs “Land of the Free” with Curt Almstead and Slim Dunlap joining in. Recorded at Martathon 80, the two day music festival held Sept 22-23, 1979 in the field house of the University of Minnesota. It featured 20 bands and was organized by Tim Carr of the Walker Art Center.
It was amazing to see him back in the day!!!!! 😊
Lyrics for "LAND OF THE FREE"
(songwriter: Mark Goldstein)
What's there to be so mad about?
I still haven't quite figured it out.
I don't feel too good today,
But I'd rather live in the USA.
This is the land of opportunity,
You might not know it to look at me.
I don't feel too good today,
But I'd rather live in the USA.
Land of the free, Land of TV,
Home of the brave, and Burma Shave, and Jesus Saves.
Yeah, I like money but I hate the rich.
They run this place while the rest of us b*tch,
Hey, what's there to do about it anyway?
I'd rather live in the USA.
I was raised on my transistor,
Learned how to dance with my older sister,
I turn my radio up all the way,
That's 'cause I live in the USA.
Land of the free, Land of TV,
Home of the brave, and Sam & Dave, you low-wage slave,
Work your microwave!
Mom and Dad will soon retire,
Hey let's hope the house don't start on fire,
I feel dangerous today,
That's 'cause I live in the USA.
1980 is just around the corner,
Hey, it's not my fault, I was born here,
I don't know what I want to feel today,
That's 'cause I live in the USA.
Land of the free, Land of TV,
Home of the brave, and the New Wave, we're in our grave.
