The Marsh Warbler: Close Up HD Footage (Acrocephalus palustris)

The Marsh Warbler is a small bird that likes to stay hidden. It's about the size of a sparrow and has brown feathers on top with lighter colours underneath. These clever birds can copy the sounds of lots of other birds - up to 200 different kinds!
Marsh Warblers fly all the way from Africa to Europe each spring to have their babies. They build nests in tall plants near water, like in reed beds or nettles. The mums lay 3-5 eggs which hatch after about two weeks.
These birds eat mostly insects, spiders and small snails. They're good at catching food while flying or hopping through plants. Sadly, there aren't as many Marsh Warblers as there used to be because the places they like to live are disappearing.
You might hear a Marsh Warbler before you see one. They sing a mix of whistles, warbles and clicks, often at night. If you're lucky, you might spot one in wet areas with lots of plants from May to August.
