आर्य वानप्रस्थ आश्रम के सूत्रधार एवं संस्थापक:
आर्यसमाज के तपोनिष्ठ नेता महात्मा नारायण स्वामी जी ने 30 मार्च 1928 को हरिद्वार के समीपस्थ नगर ज्वालापुर के निकट निर्मल,अविरल बहती पावनी गंगा के किनारे तत्कालीन आरणयक प्रदेश में देश के इस प्रथम आर्य विरक्त वानप्रस्थ आश्रम की स्थापना की।
आश्रम की कुटियां तीन प्रकार की है:
1- केवल पुरुषों के लिए।
2- केवल महिलाओं के लिए।
3- पति-पत्नी के लिए।
सब कुटियों में बिजली व पानी की सुविधा है। प्रथम दो प्रकार की कुटियों में अलग शौचालय, स्नानगृह तथा रसोई की व्यवस्था नहीं है। पर तीसरे प्रकार की कुटिया में अलग से शौचालय आदि की सुविधा है। आश्रम का एक भोजनाालय है जहां लागत मात्र मूल्य पर सात्विक व पौष्टिक भोजन प्राप्त किया जा सकता है। आश्रम में स्थायी रूप से निवास करने वाले व्यक्तियों की संख्या 250 के लगभग है।
