In 1968 my dad got me a basic hotwheels set because I had my tonsils taken out. I was 5 at the time. It came with the splittin image. I still have it today. This video brings back many good memories
Yes, the T-Bird is in my RWB collection =) As for the VW Bus, it was a 1st Edition in 1996. It was in stores in limited amounts. I will be doing a video on this soon.
@hotwheelsmadman Yes, There are reports of flaking on these Super Treasure Hunts: 2007 Nissan Skyline, 2007 '69 Camaro Z28, 2007 Corvette C6R, 2007 Jaded, 2007 Brutalistic, and 2007 Mega Thrust. This appears to be a problem isolated to the Supers made at the Malaysia plant.
@killkill120 I should have shown that in the video. The guarantee on the box states, "Guaranteed for two years". The speckling started to appear about three years after I bought them.
Hello, I just got home. That purple VW Bus is known as the Interactive bus. It is not rare, there were tens of thousands made. I just checked eBay and it sells for $10-$20.
Never did find the caddy. I knew a few locals that had a couple and they either ebayed them or traded them. I had just started collecting hot wheels in late 1997 and never found the original drag bus but traded for one years later. I found that same set on ebay back in either 2001 or 2002 and was going to bid on it but was waiting until the last minute. I forgot about it and it sold for $37... I was bummed over losing it at that price... Thanks for the video Mark !
@icollectstuffdude Agreed! this set had a pretty good mix of models! It is a shame that the paint flaked off of the redline models. I will do another video with the singles that I purchased way back when. I have a cool story about those!
@georgeman21222 LOL! I didn't think about the fact that it was 30 cars and that would take up quite a bit of time! I didn't even watch my time and I couldn't snip but a few seconds here or there. Thankfully, even though UA-cam says that I can upload 15 minute videos, it actually let me upload this one at 17 minutes! Awesome! Because otherwise, I would have had to chop the first two minutes and I think that the box shots and intro were just as important.
@blackghostcat yes, there are several Splittin' Images. I wanted to make a video with each of them but I got confused too. So I am not going to make the video LOL! And yes, the Deora II is an awesome model! I LOVE the Highway 35 version! The Rodger Dodger is very cool car as well. A classic Hot Wheels design!
Love love the path beater cuz of the real riders and it's a chevy S-10!! Indeed I'm also a big fan of the shark cruiser it was one of my childhood favorites in the Krackle car series!
@MegaAwsomeStudios It's a shame that the paint has flaked off. I bought this box set cheap a few years after it was released. I would be ticked off if I paid the original $120 price!
@TheMasterLoafer I got this set with another track set and it was like $50-60 shipped for both! I got quite a deal =) I never seen the white Caddy on the pegs. I had bought some cars in 1995 or so but I didn't get caught up in the frenzy until 1998.
@powerwh33ls I read your comment a couple days ago but I have been working lots of hours. I'm getting caught up today. You made me laugh out loud when you said that you finally found out how to open up the Side Kick =)
@BUGGATTIBOY32 Well, you're in the right place =) I provide as much new information as possible but I do have a regular job and family responsibilities as well.
Maybe they made the paint come off so it would look more vintage, always giving us something extra:)...NOT! lol Iv had a side kick for years, a gold one I got back in...2001 maybe?....I always knew that side door rattled like it should open but I never knew how to open it....10 years later I find out haha thanks Mark, can't wait to get home and pull that car out now! lol
Hello racegrooves, I would like to get your opinion on something. I wanted to know if you think it is worth buying the 30th Anniversary set for $100.00? Thank you for your time have a nice day. ;-)
It's really sad that the paint on the redlines was as bad as it was. It makes finding mint-on-card versions super hard because the paint has chipped away on most of them. Thankfully, my Twin Mill from the singles release has pretty good condition paint.
I don't remember if I have a pink 57 chevy with out the engine or with the engine basically im saying I don't know if I still have the car but I do have other 57 Chevrolets
WOW!! Amazing 30th anniversary box set. Btw I added your channel's link to my Shout Out Subscribe to Super Friends List. on my lastest video. Walmart New Hotwheels Haul. You're with the BEST of the BEST!!
the madc2004 no toy cars had lead paint, there's been videos of people testing the paint of different vintage toy cars, one of those a hot wheels red line
You're quite welcome! It's really quite pathetic as to how Mattel became to be so cheap. They try to save a few bucks and it becomes a serious quality control issue. Even the RLC cars are becoming mediocre at best. No more hand polishing. They're taking a huge risk by changing finishes from spectraflame to chroma like, or whatever they call it now. They're going to continue losing RLC members. It's terrible that they back ordered the 2014 car until 10/17. Most members paid in January. There's really no excuse for such a lengthy delay. I contacted them and I was told that it was the result of poor finishes/paint problems. Just my point!! I complained enough that I ended up getting a full refund. Anyhow, enough venting. Sorry. Have a great day!
jphritz011 I am HWC member #128 (markkaz) so I have been around for awhile and am aware of the issues. I have been in RLC every year. The problem with the RLC cars is that they were not being made in a Mattel-owned plant. With people buying fewer cars, production runs get smaller. The contractor does larger orders first so that's why we keep having problems with back-orders. Our small 5000 piece runs are more of a nuisance for the contractor. Even worse, quantities have been 4K and less. Now with Mattel moving production in-house, they have admitted that they are having problems with their new lower-cost paint process. From a consumer's point of view, are they going to be worth $16 each? ($9.99 each plus shipping).
I couldn't agree more. Why fix something that isn't broke? They had a good thing going for years and then they get the brilliant idea (dumb) to change things up and save a buck. Well, you see the results. Not very good.
jphritz011 A change was necessary. They still have cars in the shop from series 6-12. Those cars are seven years old! They over-produced. The number of people who are willing to spend $20+ for single cars is minimal. I disagree with your perception that these changes are made to 'save a buck'. If you're talking about the $1 mainlines, even with the cost-saving changes that are made, they are still the best quality $1 toy in the world. Mattel doesn't make these changes on their own. Retailers want the cars to be at or near that $1 price point. Consumers want $1. It is unreasonable for us to expect that we could get metal/metal cars with opening features at $1. We had a good thing going for over 40 years! You can't say the same for any other product to stay in the same price range for decades. How much is your gasoline these days compared to the 60's?
and you yell at me for making long videos LOL just kidden, anywys it is a shame on that paint its kinda whats keeping me from buying the custom otto from the hwc site ... a shame indeed
In 1968 my dad got me a basic hotwheels set because I had my tonsils taken out. I was 5 at the time. It came with the splittin image. I still have it today. This video brings back many good memories

16 cylinders on the engine, I believe.
Aero flash is still around, but in the color shifters line with carbide and drift tech
Super cool hot wheels. 😊
Watching old vids..
I know the 40's Woodie used the HI Raker graphics on the card but the actually issued the 30th Anniversary Woodie with a non-moving base.

@tailsrock1540 I appreciate you 'liking' the video!

@Lionferrari777 That HWY 35 version was hard to find. It was part of the past batch or two that didn't find it's way to very many stores.
@georgeman21222 LOL! I didn't think about the fact that it was 30 cars and that would take up quite a bit of time! I didn't even watch my time and I couldn't snip but a few seconds here or there. @DaddyIvo This set was $120 originally. I picked it up a few years later for cheap!
AWESOME Mark! Wish I was serious about collecting back when this was made available. Woo, love that T-Bird! Look at that fire truck!
I forgot to mention that the Interactive VW Bus is one of my favorites! Excellent color and plastic Redline tires!
@ThePepper3344 I had one as a kid but I haven't bought an original Redline Deora yet for my adult collection.
@10h41 It is an awesome display box but it takes up a lot of room. I can put the loose cars in only a quarter of the space of the box =)
Awesome set
@cuteepiemarcy 1968 was the first year. Start counting with 1968 and 1997 would be the 30th year.
Love love the path beater cuz of the real riders and it's a chevy S-10!! Indeed I'm also a big fan of the shark cruiser it was one of my childhood favorites in the Krackle car series!
@emccurnin You know that I will let you guys know when there is a mail-in offer! I will post the information on my blog as well.
@MegaAwsomeStudios It's a shame that the paint has flaked off. I bought this box set cheap a few years after it was released. I would be ticked off if I paid the original $120 price!
@beatdash102 I haven't seen CARS 2 yet. Maybe next week when I am on vacation.
Large Charge from 1975 to 1991 had a metal body and the one in the box was from 1975 but had a plastic body which started in 1992.
You're welcome. Happy collecting!
@TheMasterLoafer I got this set with another track set and it was like $50-60 shipped for both! I got quite a deal =) I never seen the white Caddy on the pegs. I had bought some cars in 1995 or so but I didn't get caught up in the frenzy until 1998.
@dreadnok320 Yes, a very cool set! It was expensive at retail but I picked this one up years later for cheap!
@PHATTZTOYZ Thanks! I rotate my subscribers through my recommended Channels and I gladly and yours will gladly be rotated through =)
@z1546796 I don't buy every color variation of the Sharkruiser nowadays but it still has a fond place in my collection.
@racegrooves WOW!! Thank you so much. Really appreciate it my friend.
wow nice box nice ,dodge deora uses that aqua is cool
@Eywrshp Hisshado You are assuming that this was the only one I own :)
Awesome set!!!
@powerwh33ls I read your comment a couple days ago but I have been working lots of hours. I'm getting caught up today. You made me laugh out loud when you said that you finally found out how to open up the Side Kick =)
@BUGGATTIBOY32 Yes! Great price!
@BUGGATTIBOY32 Well, you're in the right place =) I provide as much new information as possible but I do have a regular job and family responsibilities as well.
@ricerboy100 Dude! It took six hours to upload!
@matchboxfireEMS 50 cars would be a lot in one set!
Does the Rodger Dodger have a plastic base

@brogo91 LOL! How old do you think he is?
Did your 40's woodie wagon not jack up in the back too? @racegrooves
Super treasure hunts. My Avanti is very depressing to look at. I need to get one as well as a ford GT
What a shame about the paint. But a GREAT set !! Love the Real RIDERS.
For 1969 they should have used Twin Mill instead of the 32 Ford Vicky!
so paint on the super t-hunts are coming off you said ?
The logo is fine and dandy for some collectors, but the straight axle redlines are a dead giveaway.
@robloxmaster bulawan We need more Deora II's!
Did hotwheels ever make a VW drag bus in the mainlines? If so, then where could I buy one.
You found it =)
Why is the model Sweet 16 called Sweet 16? Is it to represent the original 16 cars?
Is that t-bird going into the red white and blue collection????
I think the black wall wheels are the same as the redlines except redlines have the redlines on the wheels.
@BUGGATTIBOY32 Very nice! Take your time, pick up the deals =)
It's really sad that the paint on the redlines was as bad as it was. It makes finding mint-on-card versions super hard because the paint has chipped away on most of them. Thankfully, my Twin Mill from the singles release has pretty good condition paint.
There are so many Redlines out there in mint condition..
@drewdy445 Thanks for watching!
If there was nothing to tell if it's from the set you could make hundreds (maybe)
i hope they do it again in 2013 because thats HW 45th year
I prefer "Re Issue" over re production myself

WOW!! Amazing 30th anniversary box set. Btw I added your channel's link to my Shout Out Subscribe to Super Friends List. on my lastest video. Walmart New Hotwheels Haul. You're with the BEST of the BEST!!
Mattel went to enamel paint because the spectraflame paint was lead based. lead paint got banned from being used on anything
the madc2004 no toy cars had lead paint, there's been videos of people testing the paint of different vintage toy cars, one of those a hot wheels red line
You just mentioned my point. Lol........
