Sir as I'm from Sales field, We usually use this rule and say, 80% of our sales is given by 20% of the customer, And the rest 20% sales is given by 80% of rest of the customers.
This power law distribution also apply in study.

Sir you have explained the power law concept using paretos 80-20 principle but Power law simply states that the relative change in one quantity results in proportional change in another . In fact paretos rule is based on power -law. Let me know if I am incorrect.
