Mine just says ‘call voicemail’ in the middle of the screen, trying the whole “hold one” thing just ends up with me being asked for a mailbox number? Anyone know where to call after this cause I put in my regular phone number (was the only thing I could think of) and that didn’t work and I’ve yet to find anything about it anywhere else

My voicemail has never worked on any iphone I've had since like 2014. From the phone app when I click "voicemail" down the bottom is says "call voicemail" so it's definitely turned on. When I click 'call voicemail' a robot-lady voice says
"Hi, the person you have called is unavailable. We can't take your message at this time. Please call again later. Goodbye".
And if I press and hold 1 on the keypad, she says the same thing but 'not available' instead of 'unavailable'.

The last step worked like an absolute charm. I did have to reset my network settings. However, once I did that I was able to view my voicemail because I have visual voicemail turned on, and I did indeed have two missed calls with voicemails that I wasn’t able to access once I reset it, I was able to view them. For reference i have a iPhone 12 mini

I used the press phone, keypad,1 and could hear messages! Wow! I had to hold phone close to hear the sound was very low, yet it shows my volume on the phone is up as high as it can go. It's better than NOT knowing what voice messages I have. And missing important calls and friends saying why don't I call them they left a message! I never used my cell phone much, but I just canceled my landline it got so expensive So, I now need to know and understand how to use my iphone7. Thanks so much

Here is a possible workaround for the low volume: Instead of long-pressing "1", try calling your own number from Contacts. It should go straight to voicemail, but you should also have access to the loudspeaker button at this point so that you can hear it better. Since you are already on a call, the regular in-call buttons should be available.

I was having the same problem nothing worked. Solved it by calling my cell provider and resetting my voicemail password. Enter the new one they provide you, Instantly fixed.

Thanks dude, been having trouble with this and it makes job searching a headache lol. For me: I changed the password to the voicemail under Phone Settings, then went to the dial and held number 1, and entered new password and sent up the greeting from that menu instead of setting it up from the typical voicemail button greeting option

May try that. Always go to the comments to get hints. Did chat with a live human being at ATT and he was stumped. he did have me create a password but I didn’t do it through the dialing one and voicemail through them. Worth a try.

Iphone X and I have to reset the cellular service every week or more frequently. We are losing business due to missed messages. If this is something wrong with the phone I"ll just buy a new one, but if it's something network related I don't want to waste my money. How can we find the root cause?

I was just trying activate this to message a friend (no little voice icon was appearing for me to press & hold.) None of the fixes from UA-cam I tried were working. It then occurred to me that maybe it only works for iPhone to another iPhone only so I tried it for some iPhone owning friends. It worked immediately. Am I right? I have had this problem because of switching to TracFone on an old iPhone. I think that Apple products can leave messages to other Apple products, but right now TracFone's "hold in the 1 button" voicemail and the iPhone's "Voicemail" are two different things. Apple users can leave "voicemail" (actually "iMessages" but called voicemail on the phone) in the phone's default voicemail, but any other calls go to the external Tracfone voicemail. I do not yet know how to integrate the two because Apple is just too awesome to let you change your own settings.

For those stuck with “Call Voicemail” only for it to not be set up, follow the very last step and it should fix the issue!
Go to setting, press “general”, scroll down and press “transfer or reset iPhone”, press “reset”, and then “reset network settings”. Let your phone reset everything, and then you should have a working, reset Voicemail!
