For example. HyunA boyfriend: EDawn also left cube and now his name is DAWN in new company. I think he had to change it because EDawn name was given by CUBE.

Same, it's just sucking my energy at this point. I just follow very few and chill kpop news channels to stay aware of what's happening, but that's it. And now that I come to think about how it is tiring for us, kpop fans, it must be horribly exhausting for idols.
I personally feel videos getting millions of views and breaking records within a few hours, days, months and so on should happen organically instead of the respective fandoms streaming the videos incessantly :/ like gangnam style getting billions of views was truly incredible because it happened organically

These tantrums are annoying me in this specific case even more because BTS profited from rigged award shows as well. they also have won awards that they "don't deserve" because they didn't meet the criteria (if that's how you word it) and when that happened ARMYS were all like "well, if the show thinks BTS is better than this group and decided to give the award to them than that's valid" and suddenly it's not valid any longer because it's not for BTS's profit?

I've only been here for two years, but I can definitely see some parallels with Kris, Luhan and Tao leaving EXO. The news may be devastating, but what will we think of that in five years or so? Our hearts will still hurt at their mention, but we'll be stronger. It won't even matter that much. It's best to learn from the past at these kinds of events. As a STAY, I'd also like to add in Woojin's departure. My first thought when it said "personal reasons" was mental illness, so I was more worried than anything. If he and the rest of SKZ can endure this in the coming years, we can even see Woojin pulling a Sunmi and returning to the group just in time to cross the finish line (aka. hit the seven year mark).

Yes it might be Wonho and Monbebe who are suffering at the moment but it can be the next idol/group tomorrow who will suffer from malicious rumours or another “scandal”. I (an army) streamed d4 a LOT when it just came out because I was so excited for it since everybody waited for a BP comeback knowing that they have potential but can't show it since they don't have a lot of songs... I bet their next comeback (if they had one) will be as successful as d4 because even if they're not musically active they always give people reasons to talk abt them and stay interested in them ( in a good or bad way doesn't matter !) This group has a lot of eyes on it and Everybody is waiting for blackpink's new comeback, whether it's a good or bad album, it'll definitely gain lots of views out of curiosity.

What happened to Wonho was horrible and now that we know that like 50-75% of the accusations against him were fake, yeah I’m mad. Monbebe are mad. But if you unstanned Monsta X because Wonho left you’re shallow. They still makes incredible music and are still working so hard to promote without Wonho. Y’all need to realize that this is so much harder on Monsta X than it is on us. They are going through a lot with losing one of their members, but they’re still pushing strong and trying giving us strength and comfort. So unstanning them is honestly selfish. We need to keep supporting Monsta X if Wonho doesn’t come back (which at this point the chances are beyond slim if him returning). Keep supporting them. Keep loving them. Other fandoms thought hashtags won't bring Wonho back and are expecting Monbebes to give up. Okay first, we understand your point of view but this is Monbebes we are talking about. We're not the type to sit on the couch and do nothing. Even if it seems ridiculous to some, at least we can say we put in EFFORT rather than doing nothing waiting things to unfold. I personally felt not every fandom can understand this unless their faves are involved. Yes the hashtags might not do anything to bring him back but at least it raised awareness on cyber-bullying. Do you guys have any idea how many major international media outlets talked about this fight? A fight not only for Wonho but to all people who suffered from online harassment. More and more articles started to talk about these issues instead of only reducing this into a "Kpop thing". That is how much impact the hashtags made. This is just one of the few projects we did to protest against Starship. Starship terminated Wonho's contract? OK COOL but contracts can be written back anytime if the company decides to. "He won't come back" , "Just give up", "all you're doing is worthless".. these are the comments that we got from other fandoms which downright diminishing our efforts & hope. I'm not saying yall should agree on it but at least just be respectful, and show words of encouragement instead? THAT would be highly appreciated. D4 got me into Kpop so I see no surprise that it reached 1B. HOWEVER, if YG decided to release more music for Blackpink then maybe there wouldn’t be so much controversy behind the 1B views. If it was my favorite song I’d stream it too. Blinks barely have any songs to stream either... It’s not like it didn’t deserve to hit 1B but people just spend too much time comparing the MV to other girl group songs. Like it or not, other girl groups haven’t reached American mainstream. We get that they all deserve to but Blackpink already did.

Alot of people that are not into kpop know D4. Alot of people can sing D4 but don't even know anything about BP. That's what kpop fans don't know. In my country, one time i saw a guy watching D4 in a restaurant on his phone im pretty sure that guy has never heard of kpop but he seemed to be enjoying it. Also D4 is super popular in china, if they had youtube in china D4 would have had like 3B views by now. They earned it!
Honestly, D4 got me into Blackpink, I had never heard of them before but watching and hearing that song I wanted more. I just didn't get into them though I got into Kpop as a whole. D4 was really trending in all social media platforms. That's what's happening with How you like that. I remember my little sister's instagram feeds being loaded with content that used these songs. I asked her "since when do you listen to kpop". She just told me that all kinds of her peers and tik tok/instagram users use these songs. Personally, i want to be a fan of Blackpink-because i like some of their songs- but i believe that they're lacking in music genre and diversity. Almost all of their songs are the hype, girl power, club type and it's a bit tiring. The fact that they don't make full length albums doesn't help their case. I hope that YG will form a more creative path for them and expand their artistic horizons.

Well, I have to agree with the opinion on BP. I feel ARMYs and BLINKs are both embarassing themselves when it comes to this though, they’re both going way too far. Edit: OK, let me get this straight here. Both ARMY and BLINK are extremely toxic, not all, but the fandoms in general are known for their behavior. Saying that it’s all ARMYs fault is a bit of a joke though, I can admit, a lot of us go way too far, about 50% of us in fact, but saying that we’re worse is not all that great. Both fandoms are known for temper tantrums, we’re both wrong and right, but let’s be honest, the fact that we’ve had 39 replies so far with a big argument makes this look even worse.
Blinks never go against western award shows if they don’t win. Just yesterday they weren’t nominated to the Grammys after practically every big media source were setting them up and even Grammys putting them on the possible candidates list. We didn’t get it, we understand.

IceBrandon101 honey that’s not how thing works lol. They are two whole ass different groups and what they get or do aren’t linked to one another. There’s been awards where BP or BTS were nominated and not the other. The world doesn’t move like kpop stans and they don’t give a shit about who paved the way or whatever. And BP were perfect candidates for new artists, they’ve been more successful than a lot of the nominees, but we ain’t going to call the Grammys racist or cancel them just for that. It hurts the group image.
I'll say, I love D4 and KTL, but I don't replay them that often. I think they are just good enough, but could be better. But same for most BTS songs and amny other songs from other groups. Yeah, popular doesn't meant incredible pop music, but also doesn't mean awful. There's much quality in BP.

The girls have wrote so many songs but never got the chance to show them to the world because YG the snake didn't let them do so. Jennie herself said that she wrote over 71 songs in a notebook and YG stole it from her, and everytime she buys a notebook and a pen she never find them the next day. Plus it's not uncommon that (k-pop) GGs Don't write or produce their songs: TWICE, Red Velvet, ITZY, Cherry Bullet, etc..... so i don't even know why is it such a big of a deal.

I have something to say about the Wonho thing as a Monbebe that is also a Multi-fan who went through this with Hanbin and T.O.P because she also an ikonic and V.I.P: I don't understand why you or other have to call our moment dumb or stupid because we're fighting a 'lost' battle. Sure, Wonho's contract got terminated, he was taken off the official website. But what's so wrong in fighting for the standards of idols to change? That's what we're fighting for. Idols should be treated as humans that can make mistakes. No human is perfect and Wonho is a prime example of this. So why is our movement dumb? Why can't we speak out? What's so wrong with creating these hastags and having them Trend? We're trying to create a conversation. If we stayed silent, then who knows what could've happened, maybe things would had been worse. We're trying to clear someones name. Sure Wonho may never return to Monsta X, sure, what he did may prove to be true, but should that stop us from creating a conversation? To draw awareness to our cause? People can turn around and work on their mistakes, people do that all the time. Why can regular people like us do that, but not Wonho, or any other idol who gets flagged like this? Not even a Monbebe, but I admire what the MX fans are doing and think it shows both their love/dedication. It's not hurting anyone, and they just lost a member over a half-baked "scandal." I don't know why people have to comment that it's "useless." Showing love/support/community in a difficult time isn't useless imo. Also, ARMYs are more than justified in calling out these corrupt institutions. VMAs were racist/xenophobic and deserved to be called out. THR was racist/xenophobic and deserved to be called out. The fact is that ARMY (and to a lesser extent Blinks) have to deal with the brunt of the west's racism and xenophobia when it comes to kpop. Fans of other groups or multis who don't have huge investment in these two groups (BTS/BP) get to ride the wave and reap the benefits of the moves happening and the barriers being broken. SNS also allows for those who traditionally didn't have a voice in the past to be able to stand up to these kinds of questionable and even outright discriminatory practices. "Pick your battles" "don't get outraged at every little thing". Sounds a lot like what people tell women/minorities when they voice legitimate complaints to just behave and stop being "so sensitive." Yeah, fandoms can overreact in certain situations, but my god, those organizations DESERVED to be called out because, yeah, they were racist/xenophobic. People should just stay silent in the face of discrimination because we're concerned about the image of kpop fans? No, thank you. And, hey, at least fandoms know the difference and respond differently depending on the situation. VMAs were called out for being racist/xenophobic and had ht's trending. Articles came out in favor of the fans who made legitimate points. Grammys snub? ARMYs just streamed/bought their music (didn't throw shade at the RA). Articles/media once again are coming out in defense of the band/fandom.

@@gracefire9067 1) fans are still very flexible but in reality kpop wasn't designed for you to dip in and out of groups. The way Korean fans and international fans support groups are very different. Yes you do get Korean fans that are multifandom but the majority aren't because for them being a fan is to be fully invested (buying merch, attending concerts, fan café, official fan club subscription etc.) and it's very expensive. 2) Out of the 3 generations of kpop we've had so far the 2nd gen has been the most "relaxed" (not as if there weren't fanwars though) 1st gen you'd literally get fans physically fighting one another and 3rd gen it's all online.

I've seen some people trying to re-sell their BP concert tickets half price or 2 tickets for the price of one so they can attend the LYSY tour (after seeing what BP had to offer for their tour). I think in terms of just pure resources, there are companies that can provide that in promotions per year. But to take in Black Pink would also lead to the demands to "make-up" for all the "lost" hits (everything still owned by YG). And what would these companies be gaining? I mean, having an (extremely) dedicated fanbase and existing popularity is great and all, but for SM or JYP or even freakin Bighit (who bought Sourcemusic thus now own GFriend), there is absolutely no incentive to take resources away from their existing well performing girl group to basically rebirth all of Black Pink. Their biggest hope would theoretically be to join PSY Nation and pray that fans will still feed them through a drastic drop in music video, production, and probably even song quality (especially with their dependence on Teddy being cut off). And I know fan loyalty is strong, but without even their own song writing, anything that would come from this would most likely be too boring for current Blinks to handle.
But we have to give Army some credit. Instead of trending a hate hashtag like pretty much all other fandoms would have, all Armys did was charting BTS' entire discography. And that is actually a mature reaction.

I feel that even if Blackpink ever leaves YG they will not be able to produce new music. They don't write or compose their music, they don't create their chereo. How do you think Seventeen didn't make up like After School or Pristin, because they do all by themselves (and of course with the help of Bumzu oppa). But yes, fans can and sometimes should be proud of every achievement their idols have. I think the long hiatus make blackpink's videos gain more views. I've seen a lot of comments saying they don't really like the song, they are disappointed (d4, ktl and hylt) but they still stream it because they are just happy blackpink had a comeback and not because they like it 😕
Another reason why D4 has so many views is because YG puts all of BlackPink's music videos under the People and Vlogs category and then later moves it to Music because you only have to watch 1 second of a People and Vlogs video to count as a view, whereas you have to watch the whole video of a Music video to count as a view.

I like D4 lol but I will say that the streaming thing across all of the music acts annoys me. It's just a show of how big a fandom is and how much streaming power they have. It's no a reflection of the actual interest of the song. Same goes with sales anymore.

Not saying all but MOST armies tell them “stop throwing tantrums” “pressed that bts won” for example exo because exo is the only group I constantly see getting robbed. Ignore armys, at this point they shouldn't even be considered kpop stans unless they stan other groups as well. I'm sad to say this but the same goes for blinks. I love EXO. I am a multi stan and I have been recently been getting into them. It is common knowledge that award shows aren't fair to groups, and for some reason the fandoms of groups who get the most justice are seen crying about how their favorite isn't treated right. Like look at the big picture, blinks and armys are complaining about the smallest things, and almost all the scandals originate from blinks and armys complaining about their group being "mistreated". Like honey, take a look at other groups and then start complaining. BTS and Blackpink are perhaps the least mistreated groups in kpop.

BP are great performers, and D4 it's a great song, I don't see a problem with it having the views, it's super contagious, and easy to sing to it... However, B T S is still the group with the most streaming on YT, anyone can check this on the internet. It's not the same to stream 7 MVs than 64 MVs.
Agreed. Not BP's fault that they have lesser contents, but that doesn't mean that their few songs aren't great. They've released several bop songs that I like to listen to just to brighten my mood. Same goes with BTS. Having many contents doesn't mean all are quality songs (not a shade) i like several of their songs too and there are some that really isn't just my taste.
I think attention needs to be made for the way award shows in the US blatantly disregard BTS though. So many people did not notice the VMAs issue until ARMYs made noise about it. Afterwards, so many people were supporting BTS and ARMYs after they looked into BTS’ numbers and stats and realised ARMYs were rightfully upset. Any other fandom would be the same. Wonho is a gentle soul and I don't think there is any other artist that loves their fans more than he does. He cried saying "I love you" to his fans, that is genuine love. He also has acrophobia so he has to take medication to film Hero MV because he doesn't want to disappoint his fans. You can't just talk as if he is just some other artist. He has done so much for the group and worked so hard to live his dream and we are supposed to just move on? Monsta X and Monbebe are a family so we will fight for him even if it gets us nowhere. I’m my personal experience... d4 actually turned OFF some of my friends from kpop. I showed it to them and they didn’t like it, the song was repetitive, it was loud but also the choreography was lacking majorly. They also said that they didn’t like it live bc it was boring and as much as I hate that. I agree, the song is lacking but it sounds americanised to me like ALOT so I think that’s why it was such a big hit

I agree. BP is good and has some pretty great songs, but nothing they have done has truly impressed me. I wouldn't call them overrated, but to me they don't really stand in any way, shape, or form (no live performances that make my jaw drop, no music that I would replay over and over, no heavenly vocals that give me goosebumps), at least not next to the groups I truly stan. I'm looking forward to their next comeback, maybe I'll get to change my mind
Yea blackpink does have really good songs but they were so overhyped it seemed like they were out of this world, but in reality they are no different than the average kpop group. Dancing isn't out of this world, singing is normal, personality is just as good as other idols. They were advertised more than other groups.

Okay first, we understand your point of view but this is Monbebes we are talking about. We're not the type to sit on the couch and do nothing. D4 was really trending in all social media platforms. That's what's happening with How you like that. I remember my little sister's instagram feeds being loaded with content that used these songs. I asked her "since when do you listen to kpop". She just told me that all kinds of her peers and tik tok/instagram users use these songs. Personally, i want to be a fan of Blackpink-because i like some of their songs- but i believe that they're lacking in music genre and diversity. Almost all of their songs are the hype, girl power, club type and it's a bit tiring. The fact that they don't make full length albums doesn't help their case. Not a fan of bp songs , but their mvs are very good. I cannot deny that it is the only thing I would always like about bp ,even if I am not into their concept, songs, or lyrics.

Yes you do get Korean fans that are multifandom but the majority aren't because for them being a fan is to be fully invested (buying merch, attending concerts, fan café, official fan club subscription etc.) and it's very expensive.
2) Out of the 3 generations of kpop we've had so far the 2nd gen has been the most "relaxed" (not as if there weren't fanwars though) 1st gen you'd literally get fans physically fighting one another and 3rd gen it's all online.

I think in terms of just pure resources, there are companies that can provide that in promotions per year. But to take in Black Pink would also lead to the demands to "make-up" for all the "lost" hits (everything still owned by YG).
And what would these companies be gaining? I mean, having an (extremely) dedicated fanbase and existing popularity is great and all, but for SM or JYP or even freakin Bighit (who bought Sourcemusic thus now own GFriend), there is absolutely no incentive to take resources away from their existing well performing girl group to basically rebirth all of Black Pink.
Their biggest hope would theoretically be to join PSY Nation and pray that fans will still feed them through a drastic drop in music video, production, and probably even song quality (especially with their dependence on Teddy being cut off). And I know fan loyalty is strong, but without even their own song writing, anything that would come from this would most likely be too boring for current Blinks to handle.
But we have to give Army some credit. Instead of trending a hate hashtag like pretty much all other fandoms would have, all Armys did was charting BTS' entire discography. And that is actually a mature reaction.

I think the long hiatus make blackpink's videos gain more views. I've seen a lot of comments saying they don't really like the song, they are disappointed (d4, ktl and hylt) but they still stream it because they are just happy blackpink had a comeback and not because they like it 😕
Another reason why D4 has so many views is because YG puts all of BlackPink's music videos under the People and Vlogs category and then later moves it to Music because you only have to watch 1 second of a People and Vlogs video to count as a view, whereas you have to watch the whole video of a Music video to count as a view.

Thanks for defending D4! It's my favorite Blackpink song (even if that opinion may seem unpopular to some). It was well-created and obviously planned and made with precision. YG knew what they were doing when they produced it. They deserve the accolades for 1B views. Its also why Blackpink wouldn't survive if they leave YG. Love it or hate it, what they are now wouldn't be possible without YG. the company made the girls the powerful force they are today. The best thing Blinks could hope for is that management of BP would improve. Or that--wait for it--Blinks would understand how the Kpop industry works in the first place. Same goes to Monbebes. Wonho is a gentle soul and I don't think there is any other artist that loves their fans more than he does. He cried saying "I love you" to his fans, that is genuine love. He also has acrophobia so he has to take medication to film Hero MV because he doesn't want to disappoint his fans. You can't just talk as if he is just some other artist. He has done so much for the group and worked so hard to live his dream and we are supposed to just move on? Monsta X and Monbebe are a family so we will fight for him even if it gets us nowhere. It's may be dumb but we are dumb for MX and just want our family back.

I’m my personal experience... d4 actually turned OFF some of my friends from kpop. I showed it to them and they didn’t like it, the song was repetitive, it was loud but also the choreography was lacking majorly. They also said that they didn’t like it live bc it was boring and as much as I hate that. I agree, the song is lacking but it sounds americanised to me like ALOT so I think that’s why it was such a big hit
I agree with you the song as a whole hust for soo repetitive and since it's such a hyped song they need to have a lot of energy in stage but for some reason I didnt see that happening at all :'( I feel like the reason it got so much hype because finally Blackpink had a comeback and because of the chorus part

However I must say that I absolutely hate when people compare Black Pink to BTS
It isn’t the girls fault as to how they are managed, so none of this is directed towards them personally
The way BlackPink was advertised/ was brought up was by hanging off the fame of others
They were advertised as the “prettier/better 2ne1” and the “female BTS” which is absolute bs (Just compare BTS and BLACKPINK discography)

As a Korean American I grew up with with Kpop
So this is where I can say, Black Pink is not that special
I really tried to listen to their songs, they aren’t bad
They are catchy, have replay value and don’t sound all that different from other girl group songs with similar concepts
For me they really lack substance (not BP’s fault I know)
The world doesn’t revolve around me and my personal tastes but it’s just disrespectful to make such comparisons to groups that MADE THEMSELVES
This is in no way meant to discredit/disrespect any of the members of BlackPink and the work they put in
Each member is talented and are generally good at performing, but when compared to some other groups, I find them to be very overrated

I can not discredit any of their talent or abilities, I am fully aware that each of them are amazing in their own way and raise the group up together
I do think they would have been popular no matter how they started, but I also think that the role of the way they were advertised and marketed played a significant role (I know this applies to everyone, but I just feel it’s especially true for BlackPink)
This is simply a matter of personal tastes and I think having healthy conversation about preferences is necessary in order to avoid toxicity

I agree. BP is good and has some pretty great songs, but nothing they have done has truly impressed me. I wouldn't call them overrated, but to me they don't really stand in any way, shape, or form (no live performances that make my jaw drop, no music that I would replay over and over, no heavenly vocals that give me goosebumps), at least not next to the groups I truly stan. I'm looking forward to their next comeback, maybe I'll get to change my mind
Yea blackpink does have really good songs but they were so overhyped it seemed like they were out of this world, but in reality they are no different than the average kpop group. Dancing isn't out of this world, singing is normal, personality is just as good as other idols. They were advertised more than other groups.
