Rain was SM Station's first ever release, and it is still to this day, their most successful single.
Which Taeyeon didn't want as she preferred it to be her own single album with a bside, that's why it has a bside (Secret) which most of station does not..

Taeyeon was in a singing academy attached to SM then she won a national singing competition arranged by SM (10,000:1 odds) and that's when she formally became a trainee. before that she only sang. she won in 2004 so that means she was a trainee for 3 years. fun fact, she sang a song with her vocal coach (The One) at 15 years old and she sounds absolutely insane. It's called "You Bring Me Joy" by The One feat. Taeyeon. She sang this even before she won the competition and at this point she was only training vocally for about a year. Despite this, she's often said to be the best student by the teachers of that academy.

she was a trainee for about 3 years & entered sm by winning a singing competition. also during the training period she was the number 1 female trainee ( for boys it was shinee jonghyun ) & basically during all training tests, she would come as number1 among the girls every time & was among the trainees that had fixed spot to debut. she is amazing

Taeyeon is crowned as the “ost queen”. she sing for so many popular kdramas. In fact some of her osts are even more popular/overshadow the dramas itself.
Her "My Voice (Deluxe)" and "Purpose (Repackage)" albums are the most flawless albums in K-pop and honestly I love them more than INVU, which says a lot about their caliber, can't wait to see you react to more of Taeyeon, her discography is insane! I think starting from the beginning is definitely a great starting place to see her evolution.

Try checking out the Begin Again series, it’s where a few artists travel to different countries and do live performances pretty much in a busking setting, so it could be in a park, by the pier, in the streets, etc. Here’s a video of Taeyeon in the Begin Again series doing a cover of Adele’s “When We Were Young” in a park in Berlin. The OST that Taeyeon sung in 13:29 was from Hotel Del Luna, in which IU was the female lead.
UR is indeed ost adjacent cause that's where SM like Taeyeon to go as well as the general public because of her successes in the ost dept but Taeyeon instead shocked everyone and released I. Solos at that time was either like hyuna/gain/sunmi (sexy) or go ballad like non kpop singers never alt rock sounding like she did I. Still back then the charting for UR and I were fighting for the #1 spot 😁
UR is her most emotional song ever imo. I still get teary eyed after the 10000 time hearing it

Among her "depression valley" songs, I personally love Time Lapse, which she sang a few seconds here. I have a feeling you will like it as well. Do check out the full version in your own time. There's no music video, only live concert clips, and audio. "What do I call you" has a video, its my favourite sassy song of hers

Taeyeon was born on March 9th, 1989, so she's 34 years old right now.
Yeah, IF is one of her big songs even before SNSD even had a hit like GEE and was longer on the chart than any of them :D like last I heard it stayed on the ost chart for more than a decade never leaving it.
It was her singing If on this Killing Voice that totally shocked and amazed me. It had been so long since she last sang it live.
