I worked at a Ford Dealership for 4 years. None of what you showed as part of the pre-delivery was done apart from the detailing where I worked. Just a way for dealers to fleece you for more $$$
It would be hilarious if there was just a torrent of questions from Paul’s wife, asking about what he needs the car for and pointing out everything wrong with it. Then Paul giving straight-faced answers while getting increasingly touchy about it. 😂

I know they say modern car engines don't need running in, but this trip you did, I am a little worried about it for you. Can you investigate if my concern is warranted. I bought a new Wildtrak-X, MY2024, and I am running my engine in the old-fashioned way for peace of mind. Also, I was seriously thinking of getting the oil & filter changed at 3000km by Ford. Thanks, and keep up the good work John B
Excellent video. I have been keeping an eye out for the first bit of content to drop. Once you took delivery of the Raptor. Super happy for you mate. You deserve the ute after all the time and effort you have put in prior to finally getting your own. Looking forward to more videos on this new beast of yours. Hopfully your misses will eventually love the Raptor just as much as you.
115km on the clock brand new!!!! Looks like there were a few runs to the local takeaway for lunches 😅 I picked up my V6 Sport & it had 39km & I thought that was excessive 😂
I picked up mine on Monday. Went with the Utemaster load lid. Keeps things dry and secure in the tub with integrated central locking, and you can strap stuff on the top if needed. Can't do that with a roller shutter. NZ Raptors don't come with a spray in bed liner, so I plan to take out the drop in liner and replace it with an RVE Tough Liner (a fitted marine carpet with handy velcro add-ins and dividers). Paul previously mentioned that the B&O sound system might need upgrading. I like my sound, and to be honest, I wouldn't bother upgrading unless you have cash to burn. It sounds good IMHO. It's a small area in the cabin, and there are plenty of crisp and deep sounds available.
I recently picked up my Raptor and I absolutely love it! I went with the blue, didn’t go the bead lock rims but I had the electronic roll cover installed. Personally I don’t see why it isn’t standard on the Raptor when it is on the Wildtrak. I can confirm the Ford dealer did do the exact same pre delivery process as I literally seen them doing it as I was waiting for my Mustang which was being serviced. The only issue when I purchased it was explaining it to the mrs 😂. As I had fully intended to order a Wildtrak, went to the dealership ( own my own) saying I was going to order it the Wildtrak however when I arrived at the dealership there was a nice blue Raptor, so that’s what I ordered 😂. I am now currently banned from going to dealerships on my own 😂 😂
I went with a regional dealer after being promised the world by a massive Sydney dealer, I still ended up with a Raptor in September even though I ordered the 2nd car 6 months later, I will stick with this dealer even though I had a 200km drive (which isn’t bad anyway)
@@CarExpertAus You can disable the auto-stop start, i did it in my gen1 immediately. in 2019. via ECU modification (FORScan) If you can find someone with it already, you dont have to purchase and the change stays permanently (lots of other options you can change also).
I ordered one from titan ford in Brookvale in early April this year with a delivery date of September 30. Called four times for a delivery date in October because I still hadn’t heard anything, then they finally had the courage to answer (by email) that I can expect delivery mid next year. Stay away from these clowns.
Nice of you sliding the old vs new Raptor in at 18:04 👍 Many happy and safe (s)miles on the new grunter. Btw, please add a feature request to Ford to automatically detect tunnels and change exhaust to Baja mode.
Probably already had this question, why don't you tow something, caravan, boat, dual axil trailer with motorbikes. Most blokes would love to know how it handles towing, even off road. Love ya work!!
Pre delivery is the dealers profit margin 😂 that would be one of the few that goes through that process otherwise it’s check the fluids take off the stickers and plastic and if they have an auto car wash they run it trough that
Yeah funny how suddenly when there's high demand the old dealer delivery monster shows it ugly head, and then the real stealership masters like ford really jack it right up there. My misso just bought the brand new Honda HRV , was a 3 month wait and guess what, NO dealer delivery fee, when I asked the sales man laughed when I told him what ford was charging me on the ranger, his exact words ** Ah that old chestnut at , we don't rip people off at our dealership **
Side by side comparo with the Gen1 Ranger Raptor. Thats all I want Paul. Enjoy this amazing toy with your family in good days my friend, well deserved and I am happy for you (you are one of the reasons for me buying the Gen1 with which I have been extremely happy for the past 2 years), thank you.
I thought the manufacturer had the vehicle delivered to the dealership as part of their cost. Dealer delivery charge of $2000 is a rip off. It should be less than $1000 because even at $150 per hour, that is over 6.5hrs of labour to pre-prepare the vehicle and it doesn't take that long to prepare a vehicle for customer delivery. This model Ranger looks great!
@@CarExpertAusthat's bullshit. Delivery to dealers is included in the sell price to dealer. The delivery charge here in Oz is a complete money grab and profit opportunity. Dealers use it as they se fit to maximise profit. It can vary massively dealer to dealer and car to car at same dealer depending on the demand. This was outlawed in the UK 20 years ago for same reasons.
Great insight Paul to the process and your experience. But it’s like dancing with your sister though, no happy ending and for most of us a long wait. Appreciate your sharing it. Paul, Fireballs' Dok Do is awesome. I have black Mustang and it was a PITA to wash and keep clean, water marks, finger prints , etc, the paint on these cars is awful. 4 years later the car looks stunning, better than new. Has a deep gloss that looks amazing on the Black Death. Is now so easy to wash and dry. We have won a couple of awards at car shows , Best in Show and People's Choice. Do the research and find a detailer that knows their stuff. My shop did four days of prep, clay bar , the works. They did glass, rims, tyres, trim, interior, brake calipers and the exhaust tips. Even if you just did the paint and exterior trim the money spent is well worth it.
Great content Paul. Gen1 owner and test drove this one. Ordered one after that as so impressed. So much fun and tech in that truck. Enjoy and look forward to more content on the Raptor. 🤟
In the "real world" most dealerships don't do what you said because its quite often for customers to receive cars with faults & flaws etc. Bought Ford 3 times and each time this happened. Three guesses which brand I switched to that doesn't have any of these problems and actually has an incredible track record where over 70% of their cars which were ever built to STILL be driving on the road. Guess price does matter...
Paul, been following you for eva, after your review of the Everest Sport. I was convinced to to purchase a silver one, picked up Wednesday 2 weeks ago, Thursday headed with wifey to Melbourne for a break from our home in Alice Springs, Love the car, thanks for the advice, 2 weeks old 6000 kays later its booked in for its first free service. been a Ford man forever, this is the best, for your interest 2 weeks of country and city driving, 10.2 litres per hundred, happy with that and shouls only improve. Had an Everest on pre-order, took one for a test drive. I was hooked. Got back and he asked if I was till keen on a Ranger. Said yes, he had a "spare" V6 WT available. 7 week wait.....woohoo..... The extra GCM in the Ranger sealed the deal..... Not completely sold on that shade of grey, but it does look good...... Was the fuel consumption at the bowser??
@PaulMaric a great ppf place to get your cars paint protected is Attention to detail. They are a trusted dealer deal and have paint protected Lambos Ferraris, Mclerans, Bentleys, Porsches, Corvettes, Dodge SRT hellcats and so many more. They have done a couple of next gen ranger raptors already. However Townsville is very far from Melbourne but I’d say it is worth it. Congrats on the new car
Grats on the new Ranger. I would've loved a sport model but the price tag is tough to swallow. Would love an updated review on the refreshed Kia Seltos for '23 too. Please and thank you!
Hey Paul, congrats on THE new ride. I think for now the Ranger Raptor is THE pickup truck one should have if given chance to purchase one. But if you be so kind enough to do a comparison with the bi-turbo Ranger Wildtrack it will be awesome on this categories. 1. Fuel mileage, I mean it's not exactly the same engine but given the sad realities of fuel costs today, say fuel consumption on city/highway driving. Coz on some parts of the world diesel is expensive than gasoline and with next year's focast it can still remain elevated. But of course V6 Raptor IS expensive to operate too. 2. Ride comfort both city/rural driving but given the advanced suspension of the Raptor I think wins on this one. Still it's interesting to compare how the Wildtrack rides to a Raptor. 3. Maintenance - Raptor has an advanced tech/engine so it might be expensive to maintain but still how does it compare to a Wildtrack in terms of maintenance. So there, hey thanks in advance and for sharing how you got this awesome ride. Enjoy the ride out there 😉
About the 4A vs 2H - my Acadia is the same. It'll sit on 7s in 4x2, but flick it to 4x4 and it'll be in the 8s. The PTU engages *a bit* so that it can lock the PTU clutch and send torque to all corners if needed. That extra drag is a good 10% extra fuel in my car, with 70k on gearbox and rear diff oil.
Congratulations Paul. It is a dream bakkie maybe only beaten by the 150, but that is too big for my liking. Also my favorite color and good to see it without the stupid stickers. I feel Ford must make the slider on the boot optional. I prefer a RSI canopy and that is an expensive thing to get rid off. Please explain to me why can't you drive with beadlock rims on public road. Your long road drive looks perfect. Thnx for an excellent channel.
Couple driving questions please mate... 1, which suspension setting do you use on tarmac roads? 2, can you change sensitivity of steering wheel? Awesome truck I cant wait to trade in the Amarok V6.
Pre-delivery should be included in the price of the car. You buy a vehicle that you can drive, right? It's not like you can remove the pre-delivery. We never pay these fees in Europe but it's probably baked in the vehicle price. Also, I never got a blanket for the new cars I bought.😢

Congratulations ! A very good choice. When it will be avalaible in our market, I will buy mine in conquer grey color too. Watching you from Madagascar 🇲🇬
Paul, congratulations! Your happiness is genuine and that is the most important thing! Any chance to compare the passenger space in the back of the new Raptor (2022) with the new Wildtrak? I have seen reviews saying Raptor’s is smaller. Thanks.
Give Bushwrapz a go for the PPC. It’s pre cut sections you can fit yourself and they have 3x different versions. Would love to get your feedback on it!
Congratulations, my wife got her Raptor in Thailand on the 22nd of September and we both love it. Also Conquer Grey. We did order in November 2021 though, without knowing much except it being a new model. Her fuel economy ranges from 14-15 l/100 km!! As soon as you go faster than 120 km/h it goes YUMMIE. One little annoying thing; in Thailand there's no phone button on the steering wheel, meaning you have to lean over to answer the phone on the touch-screen while your hands are waving about whilst driving. Easy to get it wrong. Finally a question for you; her key-fob only has unlock & lock on it. Yours has an extra button, what does that do?
in the U.S. we have a doc fee the dealer charges for the paper work dmv $85 in calif as high as $995 in Florida shipping charge is the same even if the dealer is down the street for the factory
Well done .......... This one is a great effort I love this .......... & thank you for driven safe & given what we would know about ............ God bless you ......... ! I 'm a Sri Lankan .......... 🌹👍❤️🙏 bye ..........
Very nice Paul but I'm not a fan of those tyres. The all terrain BF Goodrich tyres came on my XLT 3.2l Black edition and they lost traction countless times in the wet during the 75K they lasted. I replaced them with Bridgestone Desert Duelers and had no more issues.
Noooooooo. 0:15 Washing it with a sponge. Just think my eyes just got burned... Thanks for the video. Lots of great info there for people that don't know what goes on behind the scenes.. But please, please never get a dealer to wash the car.. Using a sponge is like using sandpaper on brand new paint Also didn't know that the Lee Collection was an investor.. Hopefully, maybe videos including his cars will be inbound?
Dealer delivery fee what a rip off.. A $3000 car wash... They are not going to fix shit. Once you drive it out it comes under warranty. $$$ for the dealer
I bought a 2021 Ranger Wildtrak from a Regional Dealer and it was $3000 cheaper than the nearest city. I get it serviced by them and they pick it up from my home and drop off - nil cost to me (for the pickup/drop off)
I picked up my ford everest sport last Tuesday, and didn't realise till I got it home and could really look over it that inside the rear wheel arch it is only what looks like sound depning material witch already started to fray from a 40k trip home the front are plastic I rang the dealer thinking it was missing a piece but was told it is how they come on the new everest and ranger. Not ideal for off road, or cleaning 🤔 does your raptor have the same? I can send you a video if you won't. Or if your doing a everest sport review plz show it.
Congrats Paul, there is a short tutorial on UA-cam on how to disable the Auto start on the Wildtrak, done it on my 2019 model, simple lead pulled from the battery, maybe similar on yours?
Suggestion is you could to a vid on taking some Raptor haters and see if you can convert any of them to wanting one after some fun in it around the off road track.
You can check out Top Wrap in Mulgrave VIC. I had mine LC300 GR Sport PPF wrapped there. Jason the manager there did an excellent job. I went for Suntek PPF, with self healing property. I would recommend them.
I have my next gen raptor, I’m extremely disappointed trying to install my 3 baby seats I had to get a third anchor point installed, engineered and the modification approved by ACT motor authority, $1700 later… I went to install the seats and the rear head rests are not removable making the seats sit to far forward So far I am not able to drive my car and it’s been a month I’m just looking at it, probably have to sell it
I wish what you claim about regional dealerships was true. I live in country Victoria. Local ford dealer has a few Rangers, mostly low end models. One Everest and a few V6 Rangers that they do have are all demos so not for sale. And up to 12mths wait for anything desirable.
That's a high delivery mileage, I reckon they did some test drives to lock in deposits, that what I used to do if a demo wasn't available at times, sold Kias for 8 years.

Congratulations ! A very good choice. When it will be avalaible in our market, I will buy mine in conquer grey color too. Watching you from Madagascar 🇲🇬
Congratulation!!!
Cant wait for mine.
Paul, congratulations! Your happiness is genuine and that is the most important thing!
Any chance to compare the passenger space in the back of the new Raptor (2022) with the new Wildtrak? I have seen reviews saying Raptor’s is smaller. Thanks.
CONGRATS! Nice Road Trip!
Give Bushwrapz a go for the PPC. It’s pre cut sections you can fit yourself and they have 3x different versions. Would love to get your feedback on it!
Your raptor videos convinced me Paul! I’m picking mine up today from Knox Ford very keen 👌🏼
Thank you for answering my question mate! I hope it would be around 475 hp with a stage 1. I think about it and it blows my mind 🤯
Mate never disappoint 😅 definitely would love to see it against a trx
Hey Paul are you going to give us another review now you have owned it for a month or so ? I and I suppose others are very curious 👍
Well done ..........
This one is a great effort
I love this ..........
& thank you for
driven safe & given
what we would know about ............
God bless you ......... !
I 'm a Sri Lankan ..........
🌹👍❤️🙏 bye ..........
Congratulations 🎊 man on your new creature comfort and off road baised Ford Raptor
Great Raptor reviews..wondering how the longer term fuel consumption is looking? Cheers Nick
Yep they’re terrible in the wet!
Great Bakkie Paul, well deserved. Enjoy.
Looks stunning! Congratulations 🎊 mate
Noooooooo. 0:15 Washing it with a sponge. Just think my eyes just got burned...
Thanks for the video. Lots of great info there for people that don't know what goes on behind the scenes..
But please, please never get a dealer to wash the car.. Using a sponge is like using sandpaper on brand new paint
Also didn't know that the Lee Collection was an investor.. Hopefully, maybe videos including his cars will be inbound?
I love when automotive journalists feature their own cars
congratulations Paul, enjoy it
awesome machine! enjoy the ride Paul.
I love your review,from Kenya
🙌
Congrats! Looking forward to Raptor’s landing in the U.S.! I have the Chevy badged Holden Commodore and would love to add a Raptor to the garage.
Ghey! Grey - just joking.
F250 is where you wanted to be, Carli with 37s.
Nice truck man!
Why would they charge you additional money to give you a working product that's brand new?
Never miss a beat to steal a buck.
Suggestion is you could to a vid on taking some Raptor haters and see if you can convert any of them to wanting one after some fun in it around the off road track.
Check out Xpel PPF for the boat and Xpel Stealth for the plastic bits
You can check out Top Wrap in Mulgrave VIC. I had mine LC300 GR Sport PPF wrapped there. Jason the manager there did an excellent job. I went for Suntek PPF, with self healing property. I would recommend them.
I have my next gen raptor, I’m extremely disappointed trying to install my 3 baby seats
I had to get a third anchor point installed, engineered and the modification approved by ACT motor authority, $1700 later…
I went to install the seats and the rear head rests are not removable making the seats sit to far forward
So far I am not able to drive my car and it’s been a month I’m just looking at it, probably have to sell it
I don’t think any of the dual cab utes in the segment offer three top tethers. They all have two ISOFIX and two top tether.
@@CarExpertAus thanks for the reply, can you please check your raptor rear seat headrests and see if yours are removable
I wish what you claim about regional dealerships was true. I live in country Victoria. Local ford dealer has a few Rangers, mostly low end models. One Everest and a few V6 Rangers that they do have are all demos so not for sale. And up to 12mths wait for anything desirable.
Congratulations Paul awesome Ride mate
Am surprised that you could drive so far displaying just dealer plates vice full registration plates. Nice looking rig though.
That's a high delivery mileage, I reckon they did some test drives to lock in deposits, that what I used to do if a demo wasn't available at times, sold Kias for 8 years.
