Before even setting foot onboard they start begging and demanding bribes. I've sailed through the canal so many times I'm yet to meet a single Suez pilot who behaves like an officer.
completely agree I also have experience Suez and it's not just the pilots who are terrible the whole management is also terrible. This incident was completly avoidable and if they had proper support and management and infrastructure they should have been able to free the vessel in a maximum of 6 hours
I was literally thinking just a couple days ago how cool it would be if you made a video of this, but it not being war related I didn't actually thing you would but here it is! What a great job, you do amazing work!
Interesting, but I believe the two sea going tugs came from the direction of the Red Sea and attached to the stern of the vessel and then pulled her backwards of the embankment.
A quick note/correction about lift over of a wing parallel. Bernoulli and Venturi is often misapplied in most common explanations of lift. Both science and pilot textbooks are finally starting to correct themselves as of the last 5 years but the old "Bernoullis Theorm makes lift" and the low pressure "sucks" wings into the sky explanation has done its damage. Its an oversimplification that conveniently works for a basic conceptual understanding but falls apart under scrutiny. How do supercritical aerofoils work then? How to symmetrical aerofoils work? How does ground effect work? Though it is correct in this case with respect to the bank effect. The ships aft quarter would have been experiencing a significant suction towards the bank which would have induced a higher slip angle to the relative water flow resulting in the further compressibility effects mentioned. Past the 45 degree mark of relative wind airflow the ship would have started yawing even more as the wind forces the hull closer to the relative airflow. This is because the leeward side of the ship will receive increasingly more laminar flow as alignment comes closer to the wind direction. I'm a plane person more then a boat person. But sails work the same as wings. And the Even Given as mentioned is essentially a giant flat plate aerofoil.

The next boat to pass through had the perfect opportunity for the world's worst delayed April fools joke.
Parking in the exact same spot.

Great document. I never saw, in the medias, mention of the "sail effect" the cargo had on the ship.
hahah, good one man. I like these smaller vids (like your SBS one near the Isle of Wight one). Now I wait for the Battle of the Saintes one (he says optimistically) :D
Glad you like them!

I am a sailor myself and I feel the need to point out that The Suez canal pilots are amongst the most unprofessional in the world. Before even setting foot onboard they start begging and demanding bribes. I've sailed through the canal so many times I'm yet to meet a single Suez pilot who behaves like an officer.
That's an interesting insight!
completely agree I also have experience Suez and it's not just the pilots who are terrible the whole management is also terrible. This incident was completly avoidable and if they had proper support and management and infrastructure they should have been able to free the vessel in a maximum of 6 hours
what do you mean by Suez pilot? The tug boat operators?

Just 2 monthes later, it’s being taught as history.

Great video. Now it all makes sense as to how a large ship could get stuck and cause havoc.
Glad it helped
You know, as a Taiwanese ship, this is sort of the FASTER way to gain an international reputation😂
I'm not sure whether it's good reputation or bad reputation that you are gaining

I just think that back ground music goes with any story the Operation Room puts together.

One of the largest sail ships ever build, the "Preussen", had a wind area of 6800 square meters.
