Could it refer to how Andoain is the one showing the "better" path to overall Terran salvation over simply Laterano salvation that the Pope represents, and that's why he's the God, over, y'know, the actual Pope? But maybe I'm reading too far into this.
Both Andoain and the Pope are so cool. This scene is sick asf, my favorite cutscene of the event. Andoaine is one of the very few Arknights villains that I genuinely like, he's not even an antagonist story-wise, only in gameplay. Make Andoain playable please!

It's refreshing to see a pope portrayed as one of the good guys in media. My man is adorable (loves sweets), badass (as seen in this picture), and is good-natured while also not naïve. I know the chances are non-existent, but I really hope he becomes playable someday.
I get what you mean, I don’t think he is that good but still it feels refreshing instead of a simple bad guy in Priest clothes. But his color scheme make me think of Santa Claus and I cannot stop seeing him as anything else now.

And as we can see, Fia, a person that doesn't share this empathy, is still out for Andoain's blood, leading to more conflict even when her two friends have already moved on. Helping people Andoain's way will only lead to ruin as Terra is an unforgiving world. There's almost no way to reach Laterano's level of stability without their race-wide empathy. Which is why he created the forum that we saw in this event instead. He definitely looks like Pope Santa Claus tho.

My expectation: Andorn, calculating mastermind, a threat to all Laterano, who is not hesitating to injure a close one and shows zero remorse about it. Andoain in event: "Hey, pope, can you please explain what in the name of all holy is even going on, because I do not understand it at all, I just do random stuff and this Shimmering Vigil girl wants to kill me for it"
Well, from the beginning, all he wants is just to find the answer; Especially after what happened to his homeland, and how Laterano reject his request to help his homeland. Yeah I understand that some people think Andoain will do 'something great' to Laterano, but that's not his intention at all. Even Patia and Oren sometimes doesn't understand what he is thinking.
He want to ask: why Laterano wont open their door to help other race, and the Pope answer: because that's exactly how Laterano can mantain their own paradise for now. Laterano is truly paradise, but also just a oasis between everlasting Inferno Terra. You cant expect a drop of water to extinguish a sea of fire. But then in the end, there are somethings change: Cecelia ring the bell and Pope's speech about connecting Terra together. We may see a new Laterano very soon
There's this one thing thats not shown to us players yet: what exactly did the pope show him? From the dialogue I guess its something like a supercomputer? And that sanktas are modified humans connected to this hive mind. It made Andoaine confused for some time
this event is less "everyone is scheming something behind the curtains" like the past few ones we've had (especially Break the Ice) and more "everyone is fighting for what they truly believe is right". it's a nice change of pace.
For all that Andoainis a low-HP boss, he cannot be blocked like Faust, has evasion, and he has ammo for bouncing shots that hurt, plus his phase 2 defensive aura and scanshot can hurt if you're not prepared.

For my doctor, think the background would be that he worked as a double agent for the Pope/Leader of Lateranos, to embedded as an agent with the Queen of Fiends, in exchange for his family's safety as his parents went against the kingdom and was thus hunted down in return, and as for his work would be de-stabilizing, reducing his place to a shell of itself to prevent Kazdel's expansionist ideals and throw the world into a war it cannot recover from, it failed and he was presumed K.I.A
That scene artwork of the pope pulling out a pistol against andoain was probably one of my favorites in the entire game
