I'm on a Joe Abercrombie reread for the 3rd time and I'm loving it so much! I feel like this series/world just keeps getting better on each reread and there's always something more to be gained from it. ❤
Race the Sands will always be a top read for me 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟. I will be reading City of Brass this year. So many people love it and I’m very excited to get started on this journey :)
I have listened to all 9 of The First Law books back to back three times. They are soooo well done and the societal progression is so fascinating! The power dynamics. Humour. Everything. One of the best fantasy series for me.
I recently discovered you. Deep reflections, mostly fantasy genre, but not shying away from other genres or non-fiction books. Great! Waiting for your newly published best novels of 2024.
Fantasy is my staple too and I’ve gotten so many great recommendations from your channel! I also love that once in awhile you also highlight impactful nonfiction too! My library is probably 80% fantasy (mostly epic), 10% science related, and 10% history & biographies ❤️
While i may not love your favorites, I do love watching you and all book people love a book or series so much that you cant stop talking about it. For me, thats a big part of why i read, to find those books that you feel in your soul. Happy Reading
immediately added 'cobalt red' and nelson mandela's autobiography to my list. i knew about cobalt red because of documentaries and journalism i'd watched but it'd be good to hear more. i've been really conscientious about buying secondhand and refurbished to reduce my impact. thank you for another great video and thank you for mentioning these! it helps reinforce why i subscribed to you to begin with and it's important for me to know how the people i'm supporting use their privilege and platforms 💖
I was reading The Blade Itself at the same time as the 3rd Crescent City book. Both series rely heavily on characterization. Yet after nearly 2000 pages of CC I still cannot picture any of the characters as clearly as Abercrombie can in the first few chapters. In the first 50 pages of TBI, Glokta could walk into my room and I would know immediately who he was (and I should be afraid.) All the characters are so fleshed out and 'real,' 3D and with multiple realistic flaws. Yet CC (nearly 2000 pages worth!!) they're all basically copied and pasted - just change hair/eye colour and one of them may have wings. That's not how to have a story based on and pushed forward by characters.
NGL the word "grimdark" really pushes me away from such stories. It just makes it sound like its nothing but misery 😂 I've yet to read a Sarah Beth Durst book but every is so positive about her work I think I will have to give them a try. I've also got city of brass on my shelves just need to stick it on my TBR 😂
Picked up the Daevabad Trilogy since you talked so highly of Empire of Gold in a few videos. I needed something after Heir (by Sabaa Tahir left me in shambles) and am now on a mission to read all the arabian fantasy books I can find. Ive just began Empire of Gold and Im scared that my fav two wont end up together, but youre giving me hope 🥺🤞🏽 swear to god im throwing the book in the trash if they don’t
yo, noooo dont be scared of it! i used to be intimidated by it too but i read Richard Swan's Empire of The Wolf trilogy and I fell in love with the genre :)))
Joe Abercrombie’s first law is a great place to start in your grimdark journey. His writing is witty, funny, and immersive plus his characters feel like real people you can empathize with. No need to feel intimidated. 😊
My favorite book long walk to freedom I felt a very special connection to that book love Nelson Mandela so much 🎆🎆📚📚📚🩵🩵🩵🩵📙📖📖📙🎆🎇🎇🎇🎆🎇🎇🎇🎉🎆📚📚🎆🩵🩵🩵📙📖📖📖📙📚📚🎉🎉🎉
Great Video! I finished the original first law trilogy some years ago and then have since only read best served cold. You got me excited about the second trilogy but I’m wondering if I need to read the Heroes or Red Country before? They seem like they’d be super slow and I’d really be wanting to just push ahead already. I loved Addie La Rue! I read it in the fall the year I read it and it was such a good reading experience.
I'm pretty new to your Videos, and really enjoy them. Thanks for making fun content, I've discovered some really nice books here, that I liked a lot. (Nettle & Bone❤) I'm currently reading Mistborn, an am about 30% through the second book. And i just CAN'T get into it. 🙈 Do you guys think Abercrombie might be a better fit? It sounds interessting, and different to Mistborn. (Sorry for any mistakes, English is not my first language, and my phone tries to "correct" everything into similar german words)
Oh dang I ADORE VE Schwab, but couldn’t stand Addie. Idk what it was about that book, but I found it to be irritating once you find out about Henry. Would have been much better if it was just Addie’s journey dealing with Luc. Did you read Blood Over Bright Haven yet? It was one of my top 2024 reads.
I read a biography. My Life Here Spiritual Experiences of Sensorial Planes by Darian Romell. I love it. It give a new perspective of day to day life. The author is a man who can connect with angels and spiritual beings.
Time-Stemps are missing! A LITTLE HATRED ....explained spoiler free and wage...naming the character not...know you will hate or maybe like but not love but also maybe love characters. But the plot is not given away or what good bad or dumm things are done by character.... Basicly this was explaining grimmdark. So why is RACE THE SANDS sooo spoiler heavy?😑 When it CAN be done without. Finding out about mother aspect and strugle is probably how the book starts. Just saying she has a person she cares aaaa lot is enough.😮💨 And chirch....why name it....it could be "an organisation" because it is one, just based on belief. Do I even bother staring a book now when the first chapters are goning to be boring.
The title shows up as random numbers for me again
Me too. I am confused. Is it a bug?
Same for me
For me too
I think this is the automatic title translation having a bug. Because in the past weeks her videos have either a german title or a bunch of numbers.
Me too 😂😂

Love your hair!! And HAPPY 2025!! ❤
First law is on my tbr this year!!!💪💪

Yay! Race the Sands is my favourite Sarah Beth Durst book. Love to see it getting some praise.

cobalt red is absolutely amazing and completely changed my life!
Always enjoy your videos!
I’ve read a lot of books, but The Secret Doctrine of Wealth is on a whole different level. It’s the kind of knowledge that stays with you forever.
Fantasy is my staple too and I’ve gotten so many great recommendations from your channel! I also love that once in awhile you also highlight impactful nonfiction too! My library is probably 80% fantasy (mostly epic), 10% science related, and 10% history & biographies ❤️

Love your videos and top lists are my fave 😊
Another great video ❤ Could you perhaps turn off the auto translation for the title plz ? It regularly shows up in numbers...
Loved this Elliot, you always have the best recommendations 😊😊

It's not *as* good, but We Hunt the Flame duology is a great itch scratcher
@@elizabethbriggs492 Thank you for the suggestion! That’s actually in my “Want To Read” list, now I know what to order next.
I’ll be honest, Joe Abercrombie intimidates me. Or in fact scares me 😅 grim dark fantasy in general scares me
yo, noooo dont be scared of it! i used to be intimidated by it too but i read Richard Swan's Empire of The Wolf trilogy and I fell in love with the genre :)))

Have you read The Wizard’s Butler by Nathan Lowell? It was one of my favorite cozy-ish fantasies from 2023.

I loved Addie La Rue! I read it in the fall the year I read it and it was such a good reading experience.
Have you ever read any Trudi Canavan? She's my fav fantasy author and I never see anyone talking about her books!
Even if not a video I'd love your to anime and video games too! I can tell we have similar tastes!
I read the first city of brass book but never continued 😅

i don't know if i like grim dark or not. should I start with Joe Abercrombie ?
Yes
I personally don't enjoy grimdark, but Abercrombie is a good place to start if you want to find out.
I read a biography. My Life Here Spiritual Experiences of Sensorial Planes by Darian Romell. I love it. It give a new perspective of day to day life. The author is a man who can connect with angels and spiritual beings.
I tried A Little Hated... Could not get into it. None of the characters interested me and if that happens, I can't get into it.
Time-Stemps are missing!

if it's in the first few chapters, it's not even a spoiler
@_dayliqht For me it is. I want to find things out. Tell me something in the middle AS I NEED TO GET THERE.
I don’t see that she gave away anything more than what you would see in the description on Amazon.
It's the blurb 😅
@elizabethbriggs492 Really!!! 😮💨
Why does titel has nummbers only. Hallo You Tube Service could you repair it!
