[Resident Evil 5] Lost in Nightmares, Knife Only, Chris, Solo, Professional, No Save/Reset No Damage

Resident Evil 5 - Lost in Nightmares DLC
- Professional
- CQC/Knife Only
- No Save/Restart: single segment run.
- No Damage: no damage taken for myself and the AI partner.
- Offline solo mode, playing as Chris.
Not the best way to play this DLC but I wanted to showcase Wesker's fight knife only. The AI needs to shoot the lock twice with the pistol to break it - that's the only exception. I missed the overall S rank because I didn’t go for more score points to compensate for the low accuracy/enemy kills (I was assuming S rank was impossible initially having the main campaign rank system in mind).

Hey, love this challenge. Glad to see you give it a shot. I noticed part of the description says "S rank cannot be obtained in this run because of accuracy and kills," but to my recollection you can. I've done knife only pro on this mode, albeit with resets and a little damage, and I got an S rank despite the accuracy and lack of enemies routed. The trick to it is knifing the reachable score stars. Even without the ones you can't reach, it'll be enough to save your rank.

Oh true, you’re right. I forgot the ranking system in the DLCs is a bit different from the main game. Normally you wouldn’t be able to with a C and a non-S. I’ll update the description.

Thought of a re4 remake challenge for you: Intro items/weapons only. Premise is that you can only use weapons/items that you begin the game with or can find up until the end of the initial village fight.
Weapons-SG, W 870, Combat knife, hand grenade, flash grenade, kitchen knife
Can only sell gemstones and velvet blues (you can't grab any other treasures in the village before then).
You can upgrade weapons, but can't buy parts/plans
I don't think large resources or spinners spawn that early, but I could be wrong
I just did the run and it feels like a more balanced version of no merchant.

I never understood why this outfit for Chris is not available outside of this DLC (even on the complete edition of the game where everything is included) nor did they add it in the mercenaries with its own load-out.

If you want to optimize your movements in the flooded basement labyrinth, you can lure all 4 Blobs under one trap and kill 'em all at once. :)

I think the max is 3 since you have to kill the first one to open up the area and have the others spawn. And it’s not reliable if you’re not using flashbangs.

Would the Wesker fight have been easier if you were playing as Jill since she has a faster knife attack?

Good question but she’s actually a little worse in my opinion because she has a couple of slow melee animations and if Wesker recovers quickly you don’t have time to knife him before he attacks you. Her knife range can be a bit of a problem too and Chris’ AI larger hitbox will be more of an inconvenience if you’re trying to prevent damage for both players.

Capcom should improve the knife mechanic in Resident Evil. Last of Us 2 has better melee attacks. LOL.

I prefer them in Resident Evil. The melee only looks cooler in TLOU because of the fancy animations but they are mechanically basic and clunky at times.
