Calling it a "flop" is a massive reach. First of all, the number two spot is not BAD by any means, especially for a Transformers movie, which already suffers from franchise fatigue, thanks to the Michael Bay movies, especially the last two. Bumblebee and Rise Of The Beasts felt that same wrath! Second of all, less people go to the cinema altogether these days. You can't compare those numbers to 10 years ago. Thirdly, not everyone goes to see a movie at the same time, so judging a movie's overall success by the first weekend is dumb. Allow some time for word of mouth to do its work too. Fourthly, the marketing outside of the States has been SUPER WEAK (except in the UK). The movie doesn't even open in most European countries until the 10th/11th October. So let's see what the results are a month from now and THEN judge.
I wish some people would just enjoy a movie and not nit picking everything about it. Who cares if it looked like a Children's Movie! It is based on the animated TV series from the 80's which most "Children" were watching at the time! smh
I really am angry that the movie flopped. I really liked this movie and I really want to see the sequels cover the war and possibly the Fall of Cybertron.
The marketing totally sabotaged the movie, the majority of people who saw it loved it. I’m a big Transformers fan part of my childhood. But when I saw the trailer I was like wtf is this lol so I didn’t see it. But now I have too because I heard it’s awesome.
All right, watched it 3X might as well go all out to support this movie. I tell ya, this is the best transformers movie ever made, the D-16 orion pax dynamic is amazing throughout and heartbreaking at the end.
I went and saw this movie on Friday in the supersize theater and there was like 10 people in there 😒 overall the movie was great and I honestly did not expect it to flop like this
I’m not surprised at all that BeetleJuice BeetleJuice is still Rising in the box office but I’m am surprised that transformers one is flopping because you would think kids would be begging to see this movie to their parents and it’s a popular franchise. But at the same time this could be a spiderverse situation because the first film flop but the second one did great so maybe if they do a sequel the same thing happens.
@@firefox7628 well not like a flop flop it was still a moderated success but at the same time it’s the lowest grossing Spiderman film to date (The Sony movies don’t count because yes they are Spider-Man villains but they don’t featured Spider-Man at all) so it made money but not the amount Sony was expecting. But the movie did boost with the Oscar nomination and going to Netflix.
There's never a reason to make or market something as "kiddie". I'll never understand how companies don't realize this. Think about classic spongebob -- it was THE show for kids yet adults enjoyed it too. Or think about Michael Bay's transformers 1, ALL people enjoyed it. The BEST kids movies are those that are enjoyed by adults. Deep down, kids appreciate the sophistication too -- even if they don't know that word yet.
Totally agree Tyrone - Trailers put me off, although I will see it (not out in the UK yet) - but am waiting for the day a movie based on the first 5 mins of Bumbleebee is made!
I 100% agree with Tyrone. We need a live action Cybertron movie. First 5 mins of Bumblebee is amazing and it’s what all the fans want! They need to take that leap of faith and make it. Fans will eat that shit up. It’s all we want.
That’s mainly due to the bayfilms and RoTB unfortunately. The general audience still thinks transformers is in that dumb fun state when really with transformers one it’s proof that they can handle complex storylines as long as u have people behind it that actually care about the franchise.
To be honest I don’t think it’s transformers fatigue, I think people just don’t trust that these Hollywood movies are worth there money. Most people probably wait until the streaming release
@@Breeezy888 maybe but at the same time the movie has been receiving a ton of positive reviews and honestly it’s the kind of transformers content we need more of honestly.
The Last Knight killed most people’s interest (despite the admittedly epic action scenes). Bumblebee was a breath of fresh air, but most people I know weren’t happy with it being a complete reboot (plus the first 5 minutes should be a full fledged movie itself). Rise of the Beasts (in my opinion) suffers an identity crisis where it wants to continue off Bumblebee in terms of being more lore accurate yet also backtrack to Bayformers’ approach with unnecessary redesigns and epic fight scenes, but now with a lower budget… It’s been a rough several years… 💀
Maybe it will make money over time from word of mouth from reviews from fans causing more people to go see it. We must never lose hope in times like this.
I think the “kiddie” aspect of it played a part in it. It did receive a lot of good talk about it from all sides. Personally, I wasn’t impressed by the trailer but that’s my opinion.
I think its about time Transformer fans of G1, bayverse and the comics should stand united. For the first time, The Academy is recognizing Transformers in their channel (Academy Originals). We have a good one, guys. It will give more confidence for Paramount to put in more investment to finally make a full blown CGI movie like the one in Bee.
People like what they like. Each to their own. I heard this movie is great, the story line, character development. I will be going to see this for myself and making my own mind up.
You are correct. Every movie is subjective. The problem of this people if the movie is critical acclaim and also they love that movie it should be blockbuster or most people should love that movie.
The problem is that the we’ve been getting so many bad transformers in the past that that the audience doesn’t trust any movie with the name “Transformers” in the title
It shows? In what way they all did an exemplary job. 🤦♂️ the idea that just because you're a VA or an actor means you inherently can't do both is ridiculous.
What a ridiculous take. The best voice acting has come from actors. Stupidest comment in this whole thread. Educate yourself next time before you post. 🤦♂
The wild robot releases this week, joker 2 releases next week, the week after that smile 2 releases than 2 weeks after that venom 3 releases. TF:One will go silent by this week if not joker 2 will finish it off.
I’m honestly disappointed by how it’s doing in the box office. Oh well, at least it’s doing well on Rotten Tomatoes. Just because the first trailer sucked, doesn’t mean the movie is also going to suck.
Yeah. That first trailer turned people away, myself included. I happened upon the later trailers on accident. That first reveal was highly marketed like a kids animation film with the kind of hokey jokes and very lighthearted tone people expect with that kind of film. And I think the main target audience of the TF films (which I think is mostly the casual action movie blockbuster viewer than the dedicated fan in terms of numbers) isn't looking for that.
That’s why I’m concerned about Sonic 3, we literally didn’t get an actual trailer until the end of last month, yet Mufasa (which comes out the exact same day) already had 2 prior to that. Does Paramount hate marketing or something? 💀
Are we surprised? Im not, as a transformers life long fan, 46 now, its just to different with the voices...the VOICES ... It's not transformers to me. It's to buddy buddy too! And yes, the first trailer really was horrible so yeah probably didn't help either.
The problem for me is that there’s no alteration to their voices. They sound way too human. In most past iterations of these characters, they had some kind of effect layered onto their voices.
Btw I’m not complaining about the animation or whatever I will see it and hope it’s good I just thought it looked like something to wait for streaming on and thought it was geared more towards kids
That makes like no sense Jesus 💀. If anything animation is better than LA since there’s a lot more they could get away with. Ontop of that the director literally stated if they were to do a movie like this it would’ve been the most expensive movie of all time so makes sense to go animated since really transformers works better in an animated format. Also u realize the movie is animated by ILM right? Same people who did the vfx for multiple transformers movies, Rango, and ultraman rising
@@kanielabarcai6182not only that but shows the general audience that the franchise is capable of handling complex storylines and not just dumb fun action.
I think this can turn around. The word of mouth for the movie is very positive. The Elementals movie managed to recover and I did not enjoy that as near as much as I did Transformers One.
I think there are multiple factors: (1) the first trailers (2) the expense of movie theaters nowadays (3) the damage to the brand that previous entries have left on Transformers
It was the combination of the first trailer, marketing, early screening probably and maybe rise of the beast's meh impression. It's on it's first week so we can't say it's a flop for sure. Besides even if it does it won't stop this from being the best Transformers film. Remember iron giant didn't do well at the box office and that is considered to be one of the greatest cult classic robot films. And age of extinction made a lot of money that doesn't mean it was the greatest film

It is based on the animated TV series from the 80's which most "Children" were watching at the time! smh
I think marketing like a kids movie was the point they wanted super Mario Bros numbers
I really am angry that the movie flopped. I really liked this movie and I really want to see the sequels cover the war and possibly the Fall of Cybertron.
It hasn’t even opened in the UK, Europe or Asia yet I don’t get how it’s a failure
It's likely a possible sleeper hit.
Get off the copium bros
@@vircenttinuh uh
The marketing totally sabotaged the movie, the majority of people who saw it loved it. I’m a big Transformers fan part of my childhood. But when I saw the trailer I was like wtf is this lol so I didn’t see it. But now I have too because I heard it’s awesome.
If this is true, it's not fair!! I need to go see it again!!
The movie has only been out for 4 days and people are already saying it's a flop like people aren't going to go see it after the opening weekend
All right, watched it 3X might as well go all out to support this movie.
I tell ya, this is the best transformers movie ever made, the D-16 orion pax dynamic is amazing throughout and heartbreaking at the end.
For my listeners on my audio podcast, it was the first trailer that killed this movie because they left me messages on why they didn’t see it
I went and saw this movie on Friday in the supersize theater and there was like 10 people in there 😒 overall the movie was great and I honestly did not expect it to flop like this
It's a movie about enslaving your own species and disappearing anyone who asks questions. The first trailer is baby stuff compared to that.
@@donavinrodriguez6288 INTO THE SPIDERVERSE?! FLOP?! IN THE SAME SENTENCE?! HOW SWAE?!?
@@firefox7628 well not like a flop flop
it was still a moderated success but at the same time it’s the lowest grossing Spiderman film to date (The Sony movies don’t count because yes they are Spider-Man villains but they don’t featured Spider-Man at all) so it made money but not the amount Sony was expecting.
I saw it on opening day by myself. Only 2 other guys in the theater. The movie was fantastic.
It only made 39 million worldwide over its opening weekend.
Thats unfortunate, i heard a lot of people really liked it. I wonder if people are just getting sick of transformers movies now or what
That’s mainly due to the bayfilms and RoTB unfortunately.
Rise of the Beasts (in my opinion) suffers an identity crisis where it wants to continue off Bumblebee in terms of being more lore accurate yet also backtrack to Bayformers’ approach with unnecessary redesigns and epic fight scenes, but now with a lower budget…
It’s been a rough several years… 💀
They market it to kids, but they put profanity in it, that puts off people more than you think
Maybe it will make money over time from word of mouth from reviews from fans causing more people to go see it. We must never lose hope in times like this.
WHY?? HOW?? SMH. Nobody you can blame but the marketing because the movie was so well done. It has to be the marketing.
I personally didn't want to see it because of all the mainstream voice actors. They are actors, not voice actors and it shows
You can be both
I've seen TF One twice. I think the actors did a great job.
They still have some experince with voice acting
it saddens me, because the movie is fantastic and I want to see at least 2 more movies at least.
The wild robot releases this week, joker 2 releases next week, the week after that smile 2 releases than 2 weeks after that venom 3 releases. TF:One will go silent by this week if not joker 2 will finish it off.
If only this came out during the summer… 😔
@@Termina2018 literally the movie was finished in June probably even may so idk what paramount is thinking. Just idiotic of them.
I’m honestly disappointed by how it’s doing in the box office. Oh well, at least it’s doing well on Rotten Tomatoes.
Just because the first trailer sucked, doesn’t mean the movie is also going to suck.
I figured it was a kiddie movie
It is.
Is for children that’s why it flop
Well this “kiddie” movie ended up being one of the better films in recent years, shame people won’t give it a fair chance.
U figured wrong haha
So was the 1986 TF?
I was undecided whether to watch it or go to the gym. Saved about 30 bucks and had a good back workout.
That first trailer killed it for me. And after Mutant Mayhem.... I just can't do it 😞
Honestly, those scores are old. It currently has 30-35 million dollars rn, and for it to be a perfect hit, it needs to collect 90-200 million
Didn’t want to see it, it just seemed too childish in the trailers. I will watch it now because of your positive review.
100% that goofy 1st trailer.
The marketing for the movie has been lackluster. I guess not enough ppl know about the movie or think it's too much of a kids movie.
That’s why I’m concerned about Sonic 3, we literally didn’t get an actual trailer until the end of last month, yet Mufasa (which comes out the exact same day) already had 2 prior to that.
Does Paramount hate marketing or something? 💀
It's only been like 4 days.
It's not even out over here in the UK yet. Going to see it when it is
Are we surprised? Im not, as a transformers life long fan, 46 now, its just to different with the voices...the VOICES ... It's not transformers to me. It's to buddy buddy too! And yes, the first trailer really was horrible so yeah probably didn't help either.
It doesn't look good from a visual perspective. Should have been live action.
The problem for me is that there’s no alteration to their voices. They sound way too human. In most past iterations of these characters, they had some kind of effect layered onto their voices.
We? whos we?
this movie still hasnt released in europe until october and still not released in china
Just thought it looked like a kids movie
It is a kids movie.
It's not
It’s much more than that…
Btw I’m not complaining about the animation or whatever I will see it and hope it’s good I just thought it looked like something to wait for streaming on and thought it was geared more towards kids
It's not a kids' movie the trailers did not do this film justice
I want a sequel with the rise of the Decepticons and the begining of the War for Cybertron.
That movie was funny asf and good loved it just seen it yesterday
Especially Shockwave having to endure Bumblebee’s nonstop talking 💀
Bumblebee=lowest grossing film(at the time), still succeeded
Beasts=Same thing, but the opposite
One=Hopefully the same with bee
can't go back to animation when live action CGI looks better. it's like buying a car from the 90's
Exactly I don't think I would go back and re watch Transformers One as opposed to the first three movies from Bay TFO was decent though
Oh brother
Tf one in my opinion has good animation and a good story that actually focuses on the transformers instead of being in the humans shadow all the time
That makes like no sense Jesus 💀.
I don't care as a Transformers fan I loved it
As a transformers fan you should care, how do you expect a trilogy to be greenlit?
@@miseros yeah your right to get more sequels and stuff but I was just saying that I love it.
@@JabariVenson transformer one is a better than Kung panda 4 and Garfield movie
Sad it flop
@@ChrisHalmon yeah Kung Fu Panda 4 was horrible
It hasn’t released every where yet so I have hope that it will at least make a profit this weekend.
It's for children 😢
If you actually watched the film you would know it’s not
*Laughs in Sentinel’s brutal execution*
I think there are multiple factors:
(1) the first trailers
(2) the expense of movie theaters nowadays
(3) the damage to the brand that previous entries have left on Transformers
It was the combination of the first trailer, marketing, early screening probably and maybe rise of the beast's meh impression.
It's on it's first week so we can't say it's a flop for sure.
Besides even if it does it won't stop this from being the best Transformers film.
Remember iron giant didn't do well at the box office and that is considered to be one of the greatest cult classic robot films.
And age of extinction made a lot of money that doesn't mean it was the greatest film
It would be nice if it got a global release. We have to wait until the 11th to see it in the UK!
I think the first Trailer killed the momentum on this movie.
My interest died after seeing that mess, but the later trailers started to peak my interest… glad the final film ended up delivering.
Man everyone for years said “why don’t they make a full cg movie in this style with just the transformers” and then we got the opening of Bumblebee. Sucks this bombed after years of fans clamoring for a fully CGI transformers movie
