This is a gamechanger! My camera movements are so smooth at just 1/10th of the time. Thanks so much for this! It did not work for me at first so I browsed through the comments and this worked. When the objects are parented but the empty isn't the first icon you see in the rig do this: 1) unparent the object by using alt P 2) select the empty first and then the camera using shift 3) press ctrl P and select object. This worked for me.
Yea this is a smooth and easy method, we all use it here. As for the not working part, usually that is due to parenting order. If we want to work fast, we sometimes get the selection order wrong. Just start over, cause the set up is done in a matter of seconds. For the people who like to read tutorials I created this: mvartz.com/how-to-animate-smooth-camera-movements-in-blender/

Of course that's what the blender community is about if u ask me😁 Well, share the video with your friends it helps out the channel a great deal and you made my day 🥳🤩
Thank you for this! I just recently got into Blender for animation/previs and surprisingly, not many I've seen use rigs, just the normal camera. Hee there no worries! 😉 Try selecting both the camera and empty then using alt P to unparent, so you have a clean slate Select the camera and then the empty and ctrl p to the parent object. After that, I animate the empty using the location, rotation, and scale channels. However, the additional camera shake is added directly to the camera. Hopefully, that clears that up, let me know!?😃
@@MVARTZ edited: how do u do the camera motion for Zerkaa intro? it seems to orbit around 1 character but then transition seamlessly to orbiting a different character. simple with curves but hard if u used the orbit technique since u cant animate the origin of an empty.
It's hard to explain in text, but lets try anyway. I use the empty and roughly timed where I want the empty to be around the 3 characters. . So the empy is the pivot point around the characters. After I animated an orbit of say 120 degrees, I let the empty fly to the next spot. Here I either do an orbit or another camera trick say a bit of shake. On to the next spot and repeat. Hee! So what I do here is as follows. Open the graph editor, select the channels you need, in my case this was scale I believe, then press shift + H. The graph editor hides all other channels. I select all, using shortkey A and center the curves with Numpad period. Using the circle select tool, you will be able to select multiple channels at once. Shortkey is C, and to deselect with circle select tool is middle mouse. Then last but not least, use the G, R, S keys to transform, rotate, and scale keyframes

Hee! Good question😁 Hope this answers it🤞 If you want to use the graph editor to animate for example noise on the rotation, then do the following.. Set a keyframe on the rotation channel, or whatever channel you want to use the graph editor modifiers on. Open the N panel on the right in the Graph Editor, shortkey N or press that small arrow icon in the top right corner of the graph editor. Make sure you have one of the channels selected, so X Y or Z rot. So, You can now Switch from the F curve to modifier tab in the N panel. From there add a noise modifier and play with the settings as you see fit. I'm planning on doing a tutorial on the modifiers in the graph editor would this be something you would be interested in?

Do you mean you want to pan the camera because you still can individually animate the camera? I'm assuming that not all your shots are panned movements, if it is you're better off animating the camera directly. There would be no need to rig the camera anyway. Anyway, say you only have one shot in the sequence that needs to pan around a specific point. Just make a new camera, mark the timeline and use that to pan, then switch back whenever you need the rig. If for some reason you only want to use 1 camera then, consider this. Places your camera at the point you want to pan from. What you could do then is create a new empty (2) at that pivotal point, snapping the 3d cursor to the camera's location. Parent the first empty that is still parented to the camera to the 2nd empty. Then rotate that 2nd empty. (use the child of constraint if needed.) Hope I understood your question right, let me know, I hope that helps.

this just makes it hard to turn the camera what if i want to record a turn in a animation
(use the child of constraint if needed.)
Hope I understood your question right, let me know, I hope that helps.
