The commentators were discussing her age with her and noting how she doesn't sing like a 12-year-old, or carry herself in public like someone of that age, asked her if she feels like she's 12 years old and she answered, "I do when I look at my passport." I think privately she can still enjoy being her age, frolicking with her little sister, running around on Venice Beach while filming the "Valerie" cover, but I suspect that she is most definitely aware of just who she is.

@@olem8980 It was actually me that speculated that it was about her grandmother. But her mother said it was about her, so I am inclined to believe that. However Angelina herself was much more general in her description, and said it was about "a love that protects you wherever yo go".

In my opinion this is Angelina’s best work, a cumulation of 5 years of work on her artistry. Her covers are nice, and yes she can sing any song and sound like anybody, but this is all Angelina, this is her sound, her song, and her artistry on display, that’s quintessentially Angelina, you can’t get better than that. By the way, even if she had help on this songs lyrics or the music, she is always in control, as she has been in complete control since she was 7 or 8 years old, if you doubt that there are many vids of her controlling everything from the lyrics to the band or orchestra which is accompanying her.
She is one of the first examples of an "internationally accepted young lady." We are being blessed in our current times especially, by her as a person and sharing her music.

If you think about it, the subject of the texts is certainly not what every twelve year old thinks, but it is natural for her instead to understand that she is still very young, even if unique, and therefore she needs a shield, between her and the world, that can easily ruin or destroy her, just as it has happened to many talented and young artists, even among those she admire, such as Avicii, Amy, Whitney. This is why I believe that, after all, the lyric are referring to her mother and perhaps also to her grandmother, they are the ones who defend she, in particular from the dangers of the entertainment industry.
