- So we gotta know, is the new promote feature worth it on TikTok. Should you and I be promoting our content on TikTok for more views and more followers?
Well for this question, I wanted to dive into it a bit and give my explanation of what I think when it comes to content promotion on the app. Not to spoil anything, but I did leave it a little ambiguous for a reason. Simply put, I think it could be useful for some people and not really necessary for others.

I really hate the fact that it's gonna tag ur promoted video as sponsored. Just push it thru the algorithm. I want my poetry to get the views and likes but I don't want it to look like a sponsorship
I didn't think it would say sponsored. But oh well
I believe its illegal. It’s illegal in the us to advertise to someone anything without notifying the costumer(viewer) that it is indeed sponsored.
For example streamers playing games saying this stream is sponsored by (whatever game) and then playing it, it’s because that’s required cause you’d think to yourself wouldn’t it have been smarter to make that not known. As if like shroud or pewdiepie XQC are just playing this game purely cause they like it and it’s good.
Dont worry, people is used to get many videos in few minutes, either they keep watching or skip it, no matter if is promoted or not, no one notices promotions, I gain loads of followers in promotions

Tried the promotion for a few days and yeah it gave me few more followers, views etc and it felt awesome however, after the promotion ended everything flatlined and haven’t see the video grow continuously. For someone like me this could end up being what an addiction feels like, spend a bit of money and chase the high and once it ends you’re back where you started.
But I do agree with you in the fact that it could blow up a video that TikTok’s algorithm won’t sift through but I feel like some people could be trapped in the sense that they could be spending more then they can afford.

Same every time I promote a video after the promotion is over all my videos stop getting viewers for a while it feels like a shadow ban so you can spend more money and promote again

Yeah it benefits me tremendously. As an high ticket affiliate marketer posting videos on tictok. As I only need 5 sales a month to make £10,000 so if I promote my video at the most expensive option which is £1000 to get 500,000 views. This makes me around 30 sales in a week. So it’s like investing but I know I will make a lot more back

I promoted 2 videos at once for 2 days. One was an original song and the other was my cat being funny. It’s been around 12 hours now and I originally had 45 followers. I am currently on 930. Which is a huge leap. Originally I had felt that as soon as I put something up it was just getting lost and sent to the back. I do think ultimately the cons will outweigh the pros. Perhaps not for TT as they will make vast amount. How is good content supposed to grow and show itself when people can pay for popularity. Won’t it basically become an advertising platform? How are new small businesses, young artists, organic funny content with no money behind them going to grow. This was why I downloaded the app.
Also, there’s an influencer who’s content I don’t like (and have never followed or liked) who’s content keeps popping up on my feed. I’ve been wondering why and now I know.
I want people who might like my music to be aware of my existence but not at the expense of other raw talent that can’t afford to be seen.
How much coins did you put into each video?
People cannot pay for popularity. That’s a misconception. They are paying for views. That’s all. It’s up to them and their content to be “loved”.
How much did you pay to promote your 2 videos?

I’m using it but I’m not sure if it’s really worth it based on the views & likes I got before the promotion (which was more views, less likes, moderate followers) whereas the promotion was (small views, moderate likes & small followers)
I promoted one video for 10 bucks and it blew up it I went from 2,4k to 11k in 2 days but the content has to be good and or relatable aswell
Hey, I tried promotion twice starting a new TikTok. The extra views and likes did help my brand new channel to grow but it definitely has a illegitimate feeling to it.it’s Jyrvo if you wanna talk about it more. I worked but I’m gonna avoid it now because of the forced content onto ppl feeling it brought me. The likes on a particular vid don’t feel genuine through that too. Anyways take care! I think TikTok should have more objectives like “Call Now” “Local Promotion” (radius) and a Lead Generator (Email subscription)

They need to add location = Countries/Cities option in promotion targeting
What about the UA-cam promote option. Is it worth it?... I personally would say no because although you get views, it appears as an ad rather than as a regular video and so people never get to click ur channel.
You will get a lot of views but no likes. Gonna make you look very suspicious…..

I subscribed, I assumed you had more subs considering this subject is usually tackled by bigger accounts. I feel you though. I've only got 735 subs after 7 months. My tiktok got 850 in just 7 days. :/ I'm a furry vtuber, so I'd appreciate more niche categories too. I'd like to promote specifically to people who watch more vtubers.

I just don’t want to get scammed on tik tok if I was to do the promotion
But there is also an issue when the primoting is done thay take the views back. I promoted a video for one day and it got up to 1000 just as advertised but when it ended my video now says the total is 700 and all the comments made on the video during that time are now deleted

So it’s saying you pay with “tiktok coins”. You can either buy them with real money through in-app purchase, or you can get them as gifts from others on the platform 👍🏼

I agree! The algorithm is crazy!!! I’ll have 1 day a week where my views are almost 1K or so yet then the rest of the week I’m stuck at 200-300… it’s the same type of content. It makes zero sense! I get the tingly feeling that TT purposely doesn’t push out stuff like it could to kinda “punish” the creator for not doing Promote. Strange!
I am new to TikTok and just used for a post I’ve made about my book cover art work merch. I wish I didn’t do it. You can’t reverse it. The views slowed after i put it on. Weird. I didn’t pay anything though so I don’t know if TikTok lets you do it for free a few times?
Do you have any idea what might make a video not eligible for promotion? I have done a promotion on one video and it went well, got what I paid for. I uploaded a new video today for new music I have out and the promotion option is available for all my videos but that one for some reason. It is under a minute, not sure that is the problem or not. Any thoughts? BTW I am under 500 followers, only been doing this a few months. Any advise is appreciated.
I'm not exactly sure. I know one thing that won't allow you to put the promotion on is using anything other than the original sound of your video. If you're making your own music this shouldnt be the reason, but if you used a sound from tiktok when you uploaded to supplement your video, that could be it.. I'd message them and ask the question so you know for the future.
And as for tips, Id say keep them altogether short, less than say 40 seconds on most videos, or as condensed and to the point as possible. And then beyond that either teach or entertain the best way you can think of with your content.

In the past I have had the problem of them muting the video because of copyright, even though I am the copyright holder... i know it's just the app. So I put my song that is in the Tiktok sounds on it and turned it down to try and avoid that... Maybe I will try it without that and see if it works. Thanks

I am using the promote button to send people to my traffic site for the mlm industry. So im hoping that it gets me a lot of sales. I spend $20 for 4 days, allowed tiktok to pick my audience, and hopefully I will make more than I spent.

My promoted videos went to 3rd world countries fricken india, bangladesh .. etc. which crapped up my analytics and can't do live casting because of the culture differences and language barriers which is very upsetting!
I purchased promotion directly from tiktok thinking it would push my context to real people but it didn’t, it just gave me a bunch of fake subs and views. I thought getting it from them directly would make it legit but nope

Last Friday when I was jipped $10.90 on tik tok trying to request a refund on my recent video that I tried promoting for 1 day. I finally ended up calling apple today, I talked to a older lady about my issue and she she looked into the investigation. She said tik tok wouldn’t be able to refund me since it did not show up in their transaction history. When she said what was my plans during this weekend, I said how my older sister and her kids are down in town visiting my family in Arizona that came from Tennessee. She was shocked when I mentioned Tennessee because she is in that state talking to me. Then after she resolved my issue she said I won’t hear anything from them up to 48 hours and my refund can take up to 30 days. The lady said she barely goes on tik tok. In the end I am so glad I got it resolved. At times i was saying it’s just $10.90 but kept saying to myself every dollar/penny counts. Maybe down the road I will give the promotion thing another try, and thanks for this video again. Have a nice rest of your day Pat. 😎

I have had success with promote. I agree that everything seems to flatline when it’s over. Then once they see I quit promoting they try to send me coupons and stuff. I feel like they do this on purpose just for more money

I promo on Tiktok all the time but growing your account organically is better. Like 2 days ago I promoted a video and got a couple thousands views. Last night I posted a video WITHOUT promo and got over 100k views. I’m cracking down on the algorithm.

My wish is to reach 1k followers to be able to add a link in my profile, so this morning I started promoting a video for a day, and so far in the evening I gained over 6k views but only a handful of followers. And the huge majority of them are from my country, which is in Eastern Europe. It doesn't seem to be of much help to me. But after reading some comments here I'm a little worried about how my account will behave after the promotion ends. Maybe would be a good idea to start a new account...

Tik Tok is now just like every other platform…a waste of time and money.
They send a whole bunch of fake profiles to follow you with no content it's so obvious you'll get like five followers in a row and none of them will have any content not even one video 😂

It isn’t I payed $10.90 for my latest video to promote my video 2 days ago and NOTHING happened and I am stuck on insufficient funds for that video. It was literally my first video I tried to promote. NEVER again until it gets resolved. TOTALLY 💯% unfair. I will keep you updated if resolved:

Don't promote. Honestly, stick to getting a natural and organic reach instead. Once Tik Tok sees that you're starting to pay for promotions, you will never be able to get organic grown ever again. This happened to me on Instagram and my reach is pretty terrible on there now. I have around 14,000 followers on Tik Tok. When I first began uploading, my videos were getting anywhere between 50,000 to 100,000 views per video. Now that Tik Tok has changed its algorithm, I'm struggling to sometimes get even 5,000 views but the one thing I will not do is promote. All these social media apps do the exact same thing. They start by giving you amazing reach, and then once they need to start making money, they hinder your reach, add a promote option and get you to spend money promoting your videos.

@@patcormick Honestly, I have no idea. I'm sort of testing out when is the best time of day to post as well as day of the week to post. I used to post at like 8pm and that worked like a charm but it isn't working much anymore. I then posted at midday and that worked well for a bit. I think it's a matter of testing the waters and seeing what is working and what isn't working. Just don't give in to the promotion thing. You'll end up spending so much money on something that you'll probably get sick of in 2 years time.

@@rosieizred change up your hashtags and upload time. Funnily enough, after my original comment, I uploaded a video an hour after my normal upload time and the video got 100,000 views, compared the the one before which only got around 2,000 views.

I had the same issue. I promoted a few videos without even knowing what it does. just to get more views i suppose to test what it does? and i felt like it is not a very effective thingy to do? at least for beautytok. i kept getting followers but i feel like they were all guys just following the account of someone they found "pretty" i dunno lol
