This is a game review - focused on surviving in the wilderness, it compares the two top survival games Scum and DayZ, you chose which is the better.

You actually didn't get a cold. That was infection from using dirty rags to bandage. It is the only illness that gives the constant hurting of you character. But good video by the way. Was looking for a good comparison.

I like both scum and dayz hell got 1000 hours on dayz...wonders, but i like the new aproach of scum can be amazing 8.0 make every one rage and i know but i believe scum is an upgrade to dayz
I've been getting back into SCUM - and there is no doubt it is getting much stronger as a game.

Have you tried The Long Dark? It's pretty nice and deaths don't feel cheap like they can in dayz.

I have both of them, from the price, animation, graphic and content scum is better than dayz. And the next development update of scum will make it much better than dayz...

you needed disinfectant or alcohol because you had the infected virus. that is why your character was constantly grunting in pain. you can get infected from being hit by an infected or bandaging without disinfecting your bandage. also, item permanence is done with a base flag usually. until you mark your territory anything with shorter persistence will despawn. other than that cool vid. I'll stick to dayz. lots harder. ;)
You love harder, but I guess you play on unofficial server in dayz. And also using mod
Cheers man. Yeah, I jump in and out of DayZ so never profess to be any expert, I just tend to show an "average" experience, someone who hasn't put in tons of hours to learn all the ins and outs.
@@sekedargaming9622 I have days where Vanilla is the way to go, and then there are even more days where I just gotta spice it up a bit more. That being said, vanilla is brutal at times and the mods tend to add things to make life easier. ;)
@@Slydder68 but I bet you play more time in the mod server than the vanilla server coz the mod is esier than vanilla server, the dayz dev doesn care about the game components like how can make base, how you can find map, how you can craft something, and many more, and those saved by mod from the community but not all mod is good also make the player confuse

ive never seen a vid about Scum before but i have a lot of experience with playing Dayz. thank you for a survival comparison. i think after seeing this video i would still prefer the survival of Dayz. 1st time watching one of your vids. maybe do a Scum vs The Forest comparison.
Hey there, I played the forest a fair bit but I'm not sure I could compare the two, the forest isn't really open world - but I bloody love that game, I recall the first time I played and locals were watching me in the forest then running away, man that was good!!!!

So, what I saw wasnt rly hardcore dayz vs softcore scum, it was more like alot of options scum vs few options dayz.
lets be honest here, the dayz part wasnt rly a wilderness survival experiment, you got clothing, some food and tools from the cities. In scum you got all of this from the wilderness.
btw. the enviroment in scum did kill you, in dayz it didnt, that would lead to the conclusion that scum is even harder than dayz.
well, good video overall but id like to add one more thing. how hard a game might be isnt a good indicator of how good or bad it is
Hey there, thanks for the insightful comment, I take it on board - I think all I wanted to portray was that in DayZ it is hard, and you can only go so far in the wilderness, SCUM is a bit easier to navigate - I also think SCUM is getting better, whilst DayZ i, in this sense, stagnant. I got both games and I prefer DayZ way, way more. Not only does it feel more "realistic" than scum, but from an animations standpoint, scale of the game, map, the overall feeling and immersion, dayz is above scum by lightyears. scum feels like amped up h1z1.. or maybe like ark. Has a bunch of mechanics that make "content" but majority of them is utterly pointless and break the gameplay flow and nothing is streamlined. And now they are adding telepathic spider monsters and cave tribal monsters in the future. Also, undead monsters from the upcoming nuclear power plant.. so yeah I have no idea what the theme of the game is anymore. It's basically ZMR in an open world. Player animations look very sped up and goofy/ cartoony and Unreal engine isn't kind to large scale environments which results in poor looking vistas, popping shadows and assets even in at distance. Game advertises 100 player server survivors, but if there's more than 24-25 people on the server, de-sync becomes unbearable and then when teleporting, sliding begins. Game flow is also completely different. Scum gets boring really fast cos it's like playing a single player game with a bad AI, and all you can do is loot boxes and build pointless bases. Dayz will give you adrenaline rush that''ll make you shit your pants. Which is super ironic for a " SUPERMAX survival game ". If you want a proper highly immersive single player survival game, you need to try "The Long Dark". Very stylized but incredibly immersive.

Yeah. Dayz may be visually pleasing but scum is definitely an upgrade to dayz, if they made the avatar less squishy. A swipe from a zombie should do less damage in comparison to a wolf.

Cheers Scorpio. I revisit these games every year or a bit less generally. I think SCUM has some excellent updates coming and I'm waiting for those to drop before I play it again. Works is killing me at the moment so vids a little slow. Thanks for the watch - hope life is treating you well.

I agree Scum is a little easy, as I mentioned in the vid, they need to make this aspect tougher and it will strengthen the game experience.
@@mattymojo They're definitely upping the dificulty in SCUM. You're fortunate you didn't get an infection during your journey. Antibiotics aren't easy to find and you could have easily died trying to find them.

@@mattymojo, there are a number of things that will kill you, hypothermia, hyperthermia, trench foot, poisoning (mushrooms), starvation, infection, dehydration.. to name a few. Also, each server's puppets may be more deadly than another. There could be more or less of them as well, etc.
You Know guys i got feeling that dayz did build its strong community through a years and its a very realistic and really hard core game. SCUM was done very fast straight away with tons of pointless mechanics because of content. Yeah and many stupid kiddos play scum because its way more easier compared to HC dayz and many players just give up after couple of hours because they even dont know what happened to them....indicators in dayz are reduced to minimum because it is very close to real life events .And what dayz does good is pulling out from whole crowd of mixed age players only the best,strongest hardcores(I me an on official HC 1stperson only servers) and scum goes play Scum or rust or whatever sht trying do copy masterpiece:). i Play dayz since 1.07 have 3,5k hours and for me gameplay is pure immersion. DaYz FOR EVER!!!

also scum is still in early acces so it could get harder
plus scum has working vehicles, no hackers who snipes you from 20000 km, mechs , better outpost, have active developers, abandoned bunkers, better hunting/cooking system
I also have a friend who doesn't know how to write or read, he doesn't like SCUM, just like you
