  • Use this spreadsheet to compute the sprint mechanical outputs from 4 to 6 split times.
    Download the spreadsheet here: www.researchgate.net/publicat...

    Hey Jb, is there a chance I can see your great data on a hard copy spreadsheet, really trying to learn how your numbers all work, GREAT WORK HERE, THANK YOU CHAD

    You noted the split times are only valid for radar-technology and not timing gates as the split times used with timing gates would overestimate F0 and Pmax. Is there any option to assess the FV-Profile with timing gates?

    hi jb morin, my father is triyng to comprehend this sheet, he does not know any english. Can you please activate translation/subtitles for him, it would be really be helpful, thanks!

    Hey JB, thanks for sharing such an informative video, also ,can you share me the resource/reference for the normative value of F0, V0, Pmax etc i want to use it in my clinical practise by using it plotting the graph .

    Hi, excellent job! I would like to know why the RF values starts to show after 0,5s time, and not before

    • @jbmorin3327

      thanks ! It is because during the very early acceleration the center of mass rises a little bit from crouched position to upright, so the vertical component of the GRF is not exactly equal to bodyweight over the step cycle. It is the case after 0.3 to 0.5 s . but since the RF-speed curve is then linear this does not influence computations

    what if we aren't able to obtain 5 or 6 split times? I only have the technology to get 2 at most using lasers

      Hi Roy, i'm afraid it will be a problem since several times are needed to form the position-time and then speed-time curve, our data and some studies show that at least 5, 10 and 20m splits are the minimal amount of time points necessary

    I have downloaded and followed the steps in the video but solver is unable to give a solution. Tried using the same data you put in on the video but not working. I am using sheets not excel not sure if i need to do something different.

      Hi Kevin, i guess this is the software issue, the file is set for excel and excel solver used, ideally on PC, and if using Mac, then the solver must be downloaded/found online as a separate software

    Hello! Most of the time when I enter the data and use the excel solver, it says a feasible solution cannot be found. A solution is still provided however, with the sum of the square differences at 0. Is this an issue?

    • @jbmorin3327
      @jbmorin3327  5 років тому

      yes the sum of square differences should be set to 0 = no difference between actual values and model, and then you run the solver

    • @GloboGymPurpleCobra5
      @GloboGymPurpleCobra5 5 років тому

      @@jbmorin3327 Thank you for taking the time to reply! But when I run the solver a dialogue box opens that says 'solver cannot find a feasible solution. Solver cannot find a point for which all constraints are satisfied'. Is this okay? If I press okay on 'keep solver solution' then the spreadsheet does update although I am concerned that it may not be accurate.

      @@GloboGymPurpleCobra5 mmmh strange, yes eventually keep the solution that makes the sum of square difference close to 0, if done correctly the fitting is almost perfect...

    Hello!! Iam having trouble figuring whaat P (hpa) means, I think the hpa means hecto pascal but what is the P. Also my weather report shows barometric pressure in inches. How do I convert it to P (hpa). Really enjoying your videos.

    • @jbmorin3327
      @jbmorin3327  3 роки тому

      Hi it is the ambient air pressure in mmHg, typically 700-1000 mmHg, sorry for the confusion

      @@jbmorin3327 Thank you. That was a big help. I have 1 more question. In your paper, you mention recording wind speed but yet on the spread sheet I don't see where to record it.

    • @jbmorin3327
      @jbmorin3327  3 роки тому +1

      @@rufusweightlifting yes theoretically wind speed if any should be added to the computation of air friction (in the spreadhseet) but we strongly recommend not doing test with head/tail wind if possible. It is however possible to add wind speed to the runnign speed (both in m/s) in the column where air friction is computed, provided ewxact wind speed in the direction of motion is accurately measured

    Do you need this spreadsheet if you have the sprint ap ?

    • @jbmorin3327
      @jbmorin3327  3 роки тому +2

      theoretically not, inputs and computations are essentially the same. That said, the spreadhseet gives you a more detailed and deeper access to the "instantaneous" data and not only the 8-10 final outputs (as the app does). So my best use is app for video and split times generation and then spreadsheet for data processing and illustration
