I have had some chip out similar to the cutting board you made. Instead of filling it , I just took it to the table saw and shaved a minimal amount off and again to the router table. It worked out well. My first time here. I'll be back.
John, they came up fantastic! Another great video but I have to admit something. I'm an Aussie with Irish heritage (in Limerick) and another Aussie UA-cam woodworker mentioned your work, and I commented that as a happily straight and married man I am pretty sure I have a crush on you. Funny thing is two other Aussie woodworkers agreed!!! HAHAH cheers mate.
🤣😂🤣 I wouldn't worry John 😂🤣, just throw Ryan a couple of bits of old stick and he will soon get distracted and start making something awesome out of it (while he is doing that.. you can run away) 🤣😂, stay safe gents 😁👍.
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed OMG you replied!! Thank you and you don't have to worry about us too much, maybe just a bit. I would be forever grateful if you could check out some of the projects on my channel. :)
Completely forgot to show the repair, that's what happens at the end of a long day. It turned out fine you can see it if you look for it but it doesn't stand out.
Hi John, love you shop and the product you made, great job. I purchased an Ortur laser burner for under $300.00 Canadian. I burn my logo on all my things I make. Easy to use and many uses. Cheers from Ladysmith, British Columbia, Canada on Vancouver Island.
Great job John... I have only made End Grain boards at the moment, must try an Edge grain someday soon... I have the start of VWF so i splashed out on a Laguna 16/32 Drum sander, it certainly takes to pain out of sanding but comes at a cost.
Love your work and even more love to listen to your accent :D I went to Ireland once, to a place called Drogheda, but I was having massive issues trying to understand what they were saying. Your accent is so different and actually sounds like english :D
There are so many Irish accents lol drive for 5 mins any direction and the accent changes, some I even find hard to understand. Glad you like the videos Stefan.
@@JohnMcGrathManInShed I kind of suspected that :) Its actually kind of the same here in Sweden as well, just not as big of a difference as in Ireland I suppose.
Lovely work John, have made some boards and coasters using maple, sapele and walnut. I use 1/3 mineral oil and 2/3 beeswax mixed. Would love to see you make bandsaw boxes sometime.
Lovely stuff John, hard to pick a favourite. The interlocking boards are a great idea but the spalted Maple is just beautiful. I like to rout in a couple of finger holds on the butchers blocks. Makes them much easier to pick up when fully loaded and you don't have to drag them across the counter either. Thanks again, always look forward to your videos (The lighting is good now too, save that setting !)
John Another great job 👍. If you ever think about doing classes on a Saturday let me know and I will definitely be first on the list. Something tells me that you are in Tipperary but I would drive down from Dublin no problem 😉
Hi John where do u get ur timber I’m from Waterford to so it would be easy for me to go where you go because you can’t get any good wood in Tom Curran’s and can u go in and just walk around
do you put anything else but oil on a cutting board? I just worry that knives will make severe cuts in the wood if there isn't something stronger on it?? Enjoyed the video
Love the chopping board. I am going to attempt a cutting board myself with English Oak and Beach, I do not have a planner though so any tips on getting a nice flat edge? Cheers
Nicely done John 😁. They all look great. Great explanation on the end / side and face grain differences. I feel I need to make a few of these ready for Christmas.... if it hasn't been cancelled that is 😂. Thanks for the video, stay safe 😁👍.
not sure if anyone cares but if you're bored like me during the covid times then you can watch pretty much all the new movies and series on Instaflixxer. I've been binge watching with my brother these days xD

Hey John, good idea on the whiskey. What kind do you like sipping on? I live in the Tennessee mountains so of course I prefer Jack Daniels. Anyway excellent boards, they all look beautiful and I especially like the 3 piece set ( charcuterie , cold cuts serving tray or whatever you may call it). I think I will make my wife something like that for Christmas. Take care and i just stumbled upon your channel and I hit the subscribe button.

They were some beautiful boards, the mix of the three hardwoods was fantastic.
Thanks Alistair
busy day in the office, good job. always good to have a really productive day every now and again. 🙂
It sure is!
Great work John. Thanks for sharing. I would have liked a closer look at the result of the repair you did on the laminated cutting board.

Great idea with the inset on the cheese board! Unique.
Glad you like it!
Very nice work on all three projects.
Love the videos I'm a woodworking electrician myself from Boston . 👍
There seems to be a few of us Woodworking Electricians around Jesse, hope all is good over in Boston!
Beautiful cutting board John. Thanks for sharing.
Very welcome
Turned out really well! Thanks for the videos!
No problem 👍
Beautiful job John!
Thanks Bryan
Should’ve made a big salad bowl blank to match that butcher’s block!
Stunning!
Good job John. Really liked cutting board, nice color. Hope your tools have stopped
rusting.
Thanks William, so far so good with the tools!
Love the Chestnut finishes

Thanks John, most educational,.......I have a question which is how thick are the cheese boards?

Love the charcuterie board train! Great idea! (New sub)
Make a charcuterie board exactly like the shape of a guitar hanging on your wall
Beautiful blocks, bread block was my favourite.
I would not use any spaltied wood on a cutting board as the spalting is a fungus.
There's no problem using it
How do get the Padauke to not run in the color into the other wood? When I sanded mine it stained the other woods

you can get a good joinable edge with a hand plane

Hi. On the cutting board why did you use a hand plane and not your thickness machine?
Thank you
it was to wide for my machine

Most if the timber I get is from McMahon's
