I have been saying this for years and I have lost friends who considered me an atheist for questioning the manner in which Africans practice religion. But I knew ignorance is their problem.
Ignorance knows no boundaries, especially when it comes to Africans and religion. Anyone can be ignorant about something. I heard Prof saying atheists believe they created themselves, I think prof is just being condescending, he can't believe that, a man of his caliber cannot believe that about atheists. I know that he knows that's not what Atheists are saying

Professor P.L.O. Lumumba, you are, and always be my hero. I know you remember when you debated with your professors. I always seem to find something that I want to debate with you, respectfully, of course. I have been teaching and learning Hebraism for the last 15 to 20 years. I first discovered that Europeans didn't even teach the Scripture, all the Holidays that they push on us are pagan ideas from the Pagan Roman Catholic Church, which authorized slavery. Many Africans don't that the Holy Bible was written in Africa, by Africans, about Africans, for Africans. You see I started reading the Bible when I was 13. I started by reading pamphlets left for my Mom by Jehovah Witnesses. I know the Bible but not verbatim. Even now I'm still learning things about the Holy Bible and still enjoy reading it.
The Europeans gave us the impression that they had written it because they were the first ones to print it after the printing press was invented. All the places talked about in the Holy Bible were Egypt and Ethiopia. The Hebrew Israelites were Africans who were sent to America and the Caribbean, we have found evidence of this in many places writings in Hebrew. The First Holy Bible was written in Hebrew the Old Testament is the Hebrew Bible.
My family and I agree totally on FAITH. However, Faith Without Works is Dead. You can believe all you want to but until you get out there and work to support your faith nothing will happen for you. You don't BELIEVE for things in your life, you WORK for things in your life. Absolutely, RELIGION is a business to make money. To make them rich off of poor people, that's sad. Because they using our Heavenly Father and when what they think should happen or is supposed to happen doesn't happen the people lose faith in YAH (GOD). The Holy Bible only talks about tithes one or two times at the most but if you go to most religious establishments, they are going to talk about tithes the whole time. Spirituality is defined by Kenneth Pargament as "the search for the sacred". Spirituality is the human need of finding a connection with what we have, consciously or unconsciously, defined as what is most sacred to us. The sacred is different from person to person but this need to search for such meaningful attachment is definitely present in all humans.

One thing the speaker needs to realize is that there are two spirits. The heavenly and the earthly, the heavenly is the Most High the King of King's Selassie that is worshipped in Ethiopia for the past eight thousand years. The earthly spirit is the fallen angel lucifer who was thrown out of heaven with his peers by the Great Angel Michael.
