Watch this you'll understand the English's mistake on the kick.
To my opinion, the fault is at the time he sees the English having happily a drink, he should have not called time off, may be he wanted to be kind and realise that's not his job, and then 3sec later saying time back on. Time was always on no reason to call it off.
So many time ref says go speak to your players.

Wales really studied how England always let their guard down when they're being penalised. Job well done Coach Pivac
Henry Bonner both those try's were suspect, when the halfback scored the ref didn't even make a mark where the penalty was if it was where the infringement occurred then where he tapped from was in front of that point, just my thought
Both tries perfectly fine. It's not the ref's fault England thought Wales were gonna take the 3 points or that the laws of the game had it that they had all the time they wanted to hold a conference under the posts. If you want to prove this wrong then bring up some laws of the game. As for the second try, the ball is lost but falls backwards after hitting LRZ's leg. Lucky for Wales but things like this happen 12 times a match.
Edward Wong Hau Pepelu Tivruski IV the ref needs to make a mark where the infringement occurred and then you can take the tap, I'm from New Zealand I'm just calling it how it is no bias
Let's settle this. Pascal and the other refs have since admitted he/they got it seriously wrong. His job was on the line, and these referees firmly believe in transparency and maintaining the integrity in the sport. If this was football, there would of been a uproar, and jobs lost. No one wants that for Pascal - Its unfortunate, but we move on...
@@abcd1234jason not true if the ref is fine with where the quick tap was taken (where he would have made the mark) it's on the mark. having to wait for the ref to make a mrk negates the advantage of a quick tap. most quick taps are taken before a mark is made idk where you came up with this rule

@@tombutcher3021 Yeah, seems like the recent lack of Saracens games is hurting England atm given the importance of many of their payers to the national team.
Yes, his timing is off, and at this level that means you give away soft penalties. Itoje is a great player, he's a nightmare to play against, but England needs to pick players who are playing at the top level every week. The 'Saracens effect' is unusual, but it's getting worse. Regarding Wales' first try, honest to God when the ref said "have a word with your team" as I watched it in real-time, I interpreted it as have a quick word (i.e bark it at your players), not gather round and have a picnic. They switched off as though it were an injury break
Well, the ref did call time off to allow that to happen. Whatever he may have intended, once he saw that England had been gathered by their captain (as per his instructions) he should have given them warning that he was about to call time on before doing so. That's basic game management.
@@Juggler4071 if you look at the match again you'll see the England players had already gathered under the posts before the referee told farrell to talk to them, they'd already switched off and were expecting the Welsh to go for 3 points.

Way to go, Wales!
Nigel Owens on his UA-cam video channel stated that he thought the ref should have allowed England more time to get in position and crucially told them 'time was back on' re. the first try. He also said the second try, according to the laws of the game, was a knock on as - the player didn't regain possession of the ball prior to it hitting the ground after he had propelled it forwards. Having said that well played Wales.
Forgive if I'm wrong but, didn't Owens say both are in a kind of grey area? And he stated what he would have done in those situations?
On another note, Squidge Rugby has done a fantastic video on the game. There are a couple of things to note on the first try, Owen Farrell never called the team in to talk, Ford did. Secondly, England did manage to set on one side, but we're casually walking over to the far side where the try was scored.
But either way, 2 pretty sus tries in this game!
IMHO - I played rugby for 30 years and was told week 1 to always be wary of a quickly taken tap penalty. However this is different I think that the French ref, once he had told Farrell time was off and that he go talk to his players the least he could, should have done was tell Farrell at the same time in the same way that time was back on rather than stand right next to Dan B and and tell him in a rather conspiratorial way time was back on and tee he here’s your chance to pull a fast one! It’s been noticeable since that all international skippers and prem rugby skippers have been asking refs that they now are allowed to know when time is back on AND that they are given time to get back in position for the commencement of play? Once they have been instructed to talk to players .As for the knock on Nigel O said it was a knock on as RZ touched the ball forward and didn’t catch it before it hit the ground as the law states. How the ref and TMO missed this I’ve really no explanation.@@Mikefoot1

@@simonjeffs75 For the same reason as I do when I’ve done sod all wrong, to shut the wife up!
If Wales were not awarded the first 2 tries, the first would have been back to pen kick in front , easy 3 pts, and the second, the ref was playing offside advantage in front of posts, another easy 3 pts.

The more I watch that LRZ run, the more I think it's a try.
Kicks were kinda important. Probably worth a show
To some extent England were probably grateful that the Ref's failings overshadowed their own. It also seemed to give them the spark of aggression that playing a test match should give you anyway but they have been lacking. Not enough to change the outcome though
The ref's failings, such as allowing Watson's try after a forward pass and ignoring Genge pile driving Elliot Dees head into the ground clearly benefitted England.
The ball going BACKWARDS from Rees-Zammit's hand to the BACK of his THIGH and then BACKWARDS from the BACK of his heel is not in any world a knock-on.
Farrell had plenty of time to go to his players to tell them to calm down and CHOSE to pull them out of position and call a water break. Neither of these were mistakes by the ref.
BTW Despite claims otherwise he newever stated they were.

You’d like to feel that England were a little hard done by with two or three decisions but their own lack of discipline (and some great play from Wales) were the main reasons for their defeat
England experienced so much adversity in the 1st half with 2 illegal tries awarded against them, they struggled gaining positive momentum in the second half. When 2 teams are so closely matched, mental strength plays a vital role...
I'd like to think it just wasn't their day, and not a biased/Incompetent ref ruining the game.

Regardless of the match outcome, everyone rugby fan should be concerned with the first 2 tries. Shocking officiating.
Agreed. Did you see the Ireland V Italy game when Henderson's clear try was not even looked at? What's going on with these officials?
I disagree. Notice how Englands wing (other side to the try) were lined up and ready. How does that side get ready and have enough time but the other side doesn't? Hmm. Truley terrible defence from England
@@kylejones8891 I honestly don't think that matters. Why can't a referee turn and ask the Captain, whom he has just instructed to gather in and talk to his players, whether he was ready to resume before putting time back on? The way he does at the beginning of the game before time on for kick off?
You can't use the extent to which England were set to do this - we can all quite clearly see teams set at the beginning of the game yet a ref will still check with the captain.
The ref could have avoided all of this by asking that question, as he should have. INstead he made it look dodgy as fuck by looking like himand Biggar were having a private little plot where the ref looked into Dan's eyes when he was about to blow and didn't even acknowledge whether England's Captain had turned around.
It just looks so dodgy, and is inconsistent with the ways Referee's usually behave.
@@GoldenbanjoDJ Of course it matters. If one side had enough time to set up then the other side does too. This is proof that the ref gave enough time. Also, the ref never told Farrel to gather his players in, he just told him to have a word about discipline. There was no need for a huddle. Wasn't as if the ref said anything specific, just stop cheating basically.
So do we just eliminate fast taken penalties out of the game altogether? And allow both sides to set up before anything happens? I guess the Welsh 3rd try shouldn't be allowed either.
Its a poor excuse to blame the ref tbh. The English team looked like they didn't want to be there. They were constantly turning their back on the game and things like that.
I guess English fans will use any excuse other than to admit Wales were the better and more disciplined team
@@kylejones8891 Well, it doesn't matter. We can see by usual referee behaviour when taking time off and putting it back on again that they generally have the full attention of both teams when he's about to do so - that's why I made the point about the referee wanting to clarify with both captains that they're ready before he puts the clock on at kick-off, regardless of how obviously 'set' they are for it. This makes the amount of time given largely irrelevant as well. Again, it is not consistent with refferee behaviors towards captains or when the clock is off.
You're absolutely strawmanning me because it has never been part of my argument to eliminate quickly-taken penalties. A quickly taken penalty when the clock is running is a very different prospect when compared to a stoppage in time. Everyone on the pitch knows the clock is still running and so there's no reason to not be prepared. However, when only two Welsh players (Biggar and Adams) on the pitch know a ref is going to decide to put time back on again that's completely different. The third Welsh try should be allowed, but you're comparing apples to oranges there and if you can't see it then you're either blind or far too dyed in the wool.
You can't paper over this blatant refereeing error by saying 'ah well England probably wouldn't have won anyway'. That's not the point. The entire Rugby world wants the game to be reffed properly. It's why Warburton said at half time that he would have been furious.
I love how you assume I'm English. As a Celt, I've literally supported every team to play against England ever. Any an objective person should look at this and think something's the matter. But if you want to play that card, I don't expect someone with the name 'Kelvin Jones' to be biased whatsoever of course..... ;)
Why is no one talking about the fact that the try awarded to Liam Williams' was due to one of the most obvious knock ons I've ever seen ignored? Look at 8:06 -- how on earth was this overlooked?!?
There is so much controversy around this but the Referee, Assistant Referee and TMO all agreed the ball went backwards, so no knock on. Maybe it was negated by the England try where George's pass was about two yards forward, 03:08 look at where his feet are when he passes and where Watson receives the pass and yet that try was also awarded. That said it was all square at 62 minutes and it was poor discipline and well kicked penalties that lost the game for England.
Second best thing after France winning is England losing. Thank you Wales, this is soooooo enjoyable. Allez les bleus !

Farrell Ford and young's have had their day, Daly and May and Watson look burnt out and have slowed up considerably. It's painful from an England supporter point of view.

I get that everyone hates England and Wales definitely deserved to win but can we at least agree that the second was a clear knock on and the first the referee should have done better even if England are partly at fault
Tbh looking at the first try again. There is 20 seconds before the time gets stopped and even the welsh players have water boys on the field. So technically the same amount of players were ready on each side. It’s just the positioning.
In the first try part of the English defence went to sleep. 0:55 When Biggar is asking about the "time back on" you can see the English defenders running into the position on one of the wings. The defenders on the side facing Josh Adams just completely switched off. That is just shoddy from the English defence. If a defence switches off like that, they can only blame themselves because ANY first rate team, including the English, will pounce on it to score.

@@stevenmcalister826 But that is an excuse. The England players are supposed to be professionals and therefore should never just switch off like they did on that wing. The other wing didn't.
@@ATtravel666 Sure, I’ve heard they don’t even go into the changing rooms during half time in case the referee randomly starts the second half.
@@stevenmcalister826 I know it is hard for you, but don't be such a moron
Da iawn Cymru 🏴.
Congrats to Wales for the win. I personally think England played better, or looked more exciting when they were attacking, but the discipline was disappointing and Sheedy made good use of the penalties. As for the two first welsh tries I don't believe either of them should've been given, but that's for the officials to decide.
4 tries to Wales and you think you played better? Englands attack was more clinical but they barely had any attacks. The first try was perfectly legitimate. Englands other wing had enough time to get back and lined up. Just terrible defence from England
@@kylejones8891 Hey, I'm literally congratulating Wales on the win. I personally don't think the first try should've been allowed, and that's down to a mistake in communication. When Gauzere left Farrell and gave him time to talk to his team, ideally he would've let Eng know/ask Farrell if they were ready before letting time go back on. As it was, Gauzere blew the whistle without warning and Biggar was totally allowed to kick. Anyway, what happened has happened and by the end of the match Wales deserved the win.
@@barryh6067 Yeah I understand the reasoning as to why you are upset but the fact the other England wing got set up is proof that there was enough time given by the ref. Confuses me how it's enough time to line up for one side but not the other
@@dpcater That's why they lost by almost double points...
@@dpcater First try was perfectly fine. Maybe England should have done less cheating and more focusing on the game. How amateur of them, seriously. It's a penalty and they are all acting like Biggar is kicking at goal. Really amateur.
England were actually dreadful throughout the entire game

England's preparation for their next match in the six nations should be concentrated on re-visiting the rules of the game because regardless of the work by Eddie Jones and his coaching staff on the training ground this is all rendered a waste of time if they concede so many penalties on the field of play.
As much as I do agree with your comment i also think that ref was atrocious both 1st and 2nd try shouldn't have counted but doesn't stop the fact England were poor and in 2nd half he got worse.
Perhaps Eddie has over achieved from Saracens success and Lancaster's foundations. The next two games we will find out if he really is a good coach.
He's taken 2 teams to World Cup Final as head coach. Was assistant coach to a winning world cup side. Has been head coach of 3 six nations championship winning teams and turned Japan into a genuine threat in any International. Remember, even Japan beat Wales when he was in charge. That sounds like a good coach.
Wales still not playing there best but they have a young side who are now fitting in,and triple crown will give them a lot of confidence butEngland have gone down hill fast since World Cup I think they look unfit and have no idea when they up against it.I think Wales can grand slam come on Wales.
Poor highlights
England need a captain who will wake players up
A lot of England complaints afterwards but I couldn't see much wrong with any of those decisions. The most controversial was the knock on for Williams try but Gauzere consulted the TMO and both touch judges and everyone was in agreement that it was a try. Sort losers?
The fast try was a bit harsh
@@henrybonner5802 very true harsh and maybe a bit unfair but he had his reasons for his decision
