Nakano Kizuna Tohoku Matsuri 2023 - なかの東北絆まつり 2023

The Nakano Kizuna Tohoku Matsuri is a festival held in Tokyo's Nakano district that celebrates the rich culture of Japan’s Tohoku region, which is in the northeast part of the country. It brings traditional performances, delicious foods, and local crafts from Tohoku’s prefectures. This is one of the rare occasions to see Nebuta colorful floats within Tokyo city! The festival goes on with different traditional dances all day, but in different settings and times. This event started to help support Tohoku after the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, and today, it continues to strengthen the bond between Tokyo and Tohoku. This recording is from last year, and it was my first festival in Tokyo. I felt it as magic and incredible to witness. We approached the area and got the first row almost 3 hours in advance, to ensure we got a wonderful view later on!
