The watch would've been perfect if that black rotating bezel just wasn't there, it looks kinda plastic like. Otherwise it's an amazing watch, 200m water resistance and ETA at that price is a great value proposition
Really like this modern design, could work in a sci-fi movie...or Blade II. For the "dracula-theme" I would add some red to the tip of the seconds hand though. Regarding the bezel: Like it a lot, even moving but just add a little dot or logo there...a narrow-triangle as a fang or one of the grids on the outside, just in colour would do well! + I would put it on a (seatbelt)-nato in black or darkblue! Or one of the racing-straps from cheapestnatostraps (blue with red or orange stitching...) As always, thanks for the great review!
I actually like the clean modern aesthetics of this watch. A little more than I'm willing to pay, but I can appreciate the workmanship of this timepiece. Thanks for another great review, Jody.
It looks okay but when you put it on-wrist, wow, it looked really good. I like the supplied strap but, yeah, shrink the buckle down. Hopefully they'll have a second version...
Great review again! Looks nice on the black sail cloth.. Interesting to note that while that buckle is huge, it’s ANOTHER part of the watch that’s referencing Dracula’s fangs 🤔. Borderline OTT, imho.
Interesting little watch , as you say quite original design . I’m presuming the strap was something of an afterthought. Black or grey and static bezel would certainly improve it ...They can improve on this as you say ,they have the foundations of something really quite cool....
Agree with your assessment. Thickness and and rotating bezel are bizarre, unless they want to put a Japanese movement and get some numbers on the bezel in a different version. We'll see. Cheers!
It's ok looking watch. Don't fancy the Transalvania name though. Needs to be thinner and have a better decorated movement IMO. Maybe have etched numbers or ticks on bezel if not painted.
When you put it on, does time stand still? If so, I'm sold. Maybe that's why there are no markings on the bezel. That blue-black dial reminds me of my favorite Sheaffer fountain pen ink color. I love that. And I kinda like the design except I can tell from seeing it on your wrist, which is larger than mine, that those lugs wear long and very large. Yes, the buckle is ridiculous and the bezel is superfluous too without proper markings. And I agree, it's way too thick for a 2824. Yes, red tritium, yes, yes, YES! I'll wait for the Mark II. Another great review Jody.
I agree with the buckle. I was thinking "man that's a rodeo buckle", when you opened the box. Great video and review. Edit: Also the bezel needs a pip somewhere.
Great intro! I probably would have owned that game since I grew up loving everything Dracula. Haha Watch is awesome and very unique. Your suggestions are spot on. I hope the makers see this video and consider those changes, it would indeed make for something even more special. Well done, mate! 👍
I agree 100% with your review points!! The sail clothe strap goes perfectly!!! If they "Fixed" the bezel and used the money to install red tritium tubes to the hands (maybe even add small red tritium dots to the indices as you suggested), this would be a must have watch for sure!!! I for one, hope Peren pays attention to your review and makes this watch Fangtastic............Bwahahahaaa!!!!!! (sorry for the cheeky part at the end....) Thanks for doing the review!!!
They could also go for a more everyday type watch (rather than a diver) with essentially the same design but even thinner (~10 mm) and only 100 meters of water resistance.
Looks very stylish, I love the color and the look. And who can complain about an eta 2824 as the heart of the watch? But that is where it ends for me. As you pointed out the "niggles" are just a little too much, especially the 14 mil thickness. Even though I have a larger wrist, I still like a watch that looks and feels a bit slimmer. All in all, if the Vamps in Tranny followed your advice they would greatly improve the wearability and the value of this piece. Once again you've given us a very entertaining and informative review.
I got my first diver watch recently. It’s a Vostok Komandirskie with a 24 hour dial and a date complication at the 6 o’clock (or in this case, the 12), for only $98 off Amazon! My question is what kind of strap should I get for it? Right now I’m rocking the standard zulu style black nylon strap it came with, but I’m looking to upgrade before setting off for Korea. Any suggestions?
Only those of us bourn in the late 50's know the real origin of the logo: Google Peter Sarstedt - Where Do You Go To My Lovely (1969). But even someone that old can tell that this is one good looking watch...
Seven watches in at this point. I have one Swiss Made watch, a Hamilton Khaki King with it's H40 (which if I remember is an ETA modified with a slower beat) movement. My steadiest watch is a Guanqin running an NH36. So I'm not 100% ignorant, but I am still unsure of something about watch people. Here's what I don't get about "Swiss Made". If an ETA 2824: 1) Isn't as accurate 2) Isn't more robust 3) Costs more to service than a Miyota or Seiko at a much lower price, what Makes it "higher quality" and why am I supposed to want one? This Peren? Not my deal exactly, though I appreciate the original design. The bezel looks like a white wall tire to me, aided by the fact it's a little chubby. Face is either boring or simple. I choose boring. :-/ Still one of the most entertaining guys in the watchtube world!
navajas rs I’m going to stump for a Khaki King in 2 years or so. At the moment it’s a great value proposition for a Swiss Made. Most others are overpriced. I think Seiko, Citizen and Orient deserve a lot of respect for their quality, in house movement and general finish on their watches.
0:51 Can you hear, can you hear the thunder?! You better run, you better take cover! The watch is nice, just not my cup o tea... Good, entertaining vid as always
Hey! I ordered a watch from gearbest with SF Express shipping! It says it is ready to pick up! Where should i pick it up? I cant find any sf express email or post office i should get it.
Great Tee Shirt mate! Ministry of Silly Walks! :D. This watch definitely needs a couple of tweaks. The Bezel is exceedingly Meh, and the lume is quite disappointing as you say...but a bit of tweaking could make it awesome!
That watch could really use a revered dome crystal to really make it pop. Also some gunmetal bluing on the case would be cool. Love the dark blue/black dial. Other than that I'd say keep it the way it is. Okay, you got me with the red tubes.
Interesting but... Like most of you, I already own way too many watches and it’s not like I can drop $400 on every new offering. If you want me to spend on a 22nd watch I don’t need, it’s gotta be perfect... Useless rotating bezel, wasted space in the case? Come on! You do get points for design and originality. I know I keep plugging Straton, but I do feel Kyle brings the detail, design and manufacturing quality to the next level. I’m ready to pay $300+ for the quartz versions of his products, can’t say as much about most of these other micro brands. Good one J!
Same here...i'm still saving up the money for the Straton...unfortunately shipping it from Switzerland to Germany will add another 19% (!!!) taxes to the watch, the Kickstarter-ones were sent from inner European Union, so no tax + cheaper in the first place but I discovered them slightly to late (for what I have to pay now, I could have bought the mechanical one...)...even the second Hand marked does not help... Lucky guys in the states and down-under don't pay taxes for stuff from Switzerland...
I like the looks of that watch as well. However, the branding is silly. I’ve written copy like that before as an inside joke, making up illusions to this, that and the other thing that sounded plausible to an outsider, but everyone knew it was fake. But yes, an interesting design.
Great ... now I need to get Hasbro's "I want to bite your finger" as well as a watch ... on second thought at over $400 I may need to donate more blood to consider it.
great video! the watch has promice, sad its the production model, that bezel total fail. Work needed on the lum too, if memory serves me well, Dracular eyes was highlited before he bit the lady! lol!
If you hadn't said Romania I would have thought Danish...clean lines clean dial, which looks almost blue/black my favourite ink yes ink I use a fountain pen pilot blue black nice watch but my usual issue $440 is for us in Oz is $625 plus 10% we are up around $700 plus shipping ouch....but stunning and it is a unique style agreed on strap me I'd go with canvas grey/blue but hey ho great review and is the recessed movement some form of extra shock resistant recess with a gasket? Again really like that but lume is very poor that red lume idea is top draw.
That logo looks a lot like DrDisrespect's mustache. On-topic : hideous watch. Thanks for the video, tho. Always nice to see those new, uncommon things on the market.
Are you sure the logo is fangs? It could be 70's porn stache.
Nice watch though.
🤣🤣🤣
I could really use a Ron Jeremy-Themed watch! I just discovered a Ron Jeremy-themed Rum (Ron de Jeremy), its great and would work along! ;)
It would have its socks still left on!
Frankenstein's hair
Dass ist good ,Yahhhhhhhhhhhh.Money shot done.
I actually like the design of this watch a lot. "Peren" by the way, just means "Pears" in Dutch.
that black bezel outer band reminds me of those plastic bands that tamper-evident bottle caps break off from and leave on the bottle neck.
This kind of looks like a wierd clean vostok hybrid. I like it.
That second hand movement looks really smooth, too. Almost accutron-smooth even.
WOW! I love it! The legibility is bang on perfect and it looks so clean. It just goes to show that less really is more. Thanks for the review, Jody
If I produce using parts from other watches would it be a Frankenstein watch?
Good point! Should try that tho
I see what you did there.
@Stoney Lonsome ... way to suck all of the fun out of the obviously sarcastic comment like a vampire ... although oddly appropriate for this video.
To me, that's actually a pretty steep price for what it is. It's a neat piece though.
You won't get an argument from me on that mate! $440 US equates to roughly $620 (Oz) Simply nothing worth 600 bucks happening on this watch.
The watch would've been perfect if that black rotating bezel just wasn't there, it looks kinda plastic like. Otherwise it's an amazing watch, 200m water resistance and ETA at that price is a great value proposition
Very interesting, but i'm afraid only vampires can understand that rotating basel.
🤣🤣😅
That game! LOL...I remember one called Cabal that had glowing stuff on it...A bit earlier than 80's tho :)
Or one of the racing-straps from cheapestnatostraps (blue with red or orange stitching...)
As always, thanks for the great review!
"Peren" in Transylvanian=saw you coming.
I actually like the clean modern aesthetics of this watch. A little more than I'm willing to pay, but I can appreciate the workmanship of this timepiece. Thanks for another great review, Jody.
Peren shoud really....REALLY listen to every one of your improvement suggestions. Then I'll buy one. How cool would the red tubes be?!
@Dean, I can assure you that your feedback will not be in vain
I absolutely enjoy mine. I totally agree about the bezel, no need to rotate, practically a fidget bezel. The buckle is very nice though.
Great to hear that Svetoslav!
Transylvania made on the dial & swiss movement on the case back would've been so much cooler than the generic swiss made on the dial. Cheers 👍👍
Funny you mention the memory issue. I have the same only a wee bit older than you. I remember the 70s like yesterday. 80s were shite as I recall.
...and I got it for the early 90s ;)
Check out the SOD from the same manufacteror. Moon phases but it's a blood moon, which is a great touch.
It looks okay but when you put it on-wrist, wow, it looked really good. I like the supplied strap but, yeah, shrink the buckle down. Hopefully they'll have a second version...
Love the old commercial as well as the Ministry of Silly Walks t-shirt. Great review as always.
Good for Dracula man, he needed a watch - Frankenstein has so many to pick between
Great review again! Looks nice on the black sail cloth..
Interesting to note that while that buckle is huge, it’s ANOTHER part of the watch that’s referencing Dracula’s fangs 🤔. Borderline OTT, imho.
Cant tell if I love this for its style or the vampire tie in lol
Put it off as long as I could. Finally ordered one for myself!
Interesting little watch , as you say quite original design . I’m presuming the strap was something of an afterthought. Black or grey and static bezel would certainly improve it ...They can improve on this as you say ,they have the foundations of something really quite cool....
Your speaker is popping in a great way, or /and the rotating bezel sounds great. Good/great watch but the price.
Love the clean clear look, if the lume had been better would have most likely went for it.
Love them old ads
Nice...thanks for showing us your Perineum...sorry, I meant Peren Nera!
Good one!:0
Agree with your assessment. Thickness and and rotating bezel are bizarre, unless they want to put a Japanese movement and get some numbers on the bezel in a different version. We'll see. Cheers!
So they just removed the bezel insert?
perhaps you can do some reviews on low budget single and multi watch winders like versa and the like
It's ok looking watch.
Another great review Jody.
Really love the watch but more than Dracula it reminds me a porthole looking at a beautiful night sky.
I agree with the buckle. I was thinking "man that's a rodeo buckle", when you opened the box.
Great video and review.
Edit: Also the bezel needs a pip somewhere.
Great comment with the rodeo buckle. Made my day
Great intro! I probably would have owned that game since I grew up loving everything Dracula. Haha
Watch is awesome and very unique. Your suggestions are spot on. I hope the makers see this video and consider those changes, it would indeed make for something even more special.
Well done, mate! 👍
I agree with you thinking it looks different and clean.
Great channel. I often watch ur vids even when I don’t like the look of the watch. :)
They could also go for a more everyday type watch (rather than a diver) with essentially the same design but even thinner (~10 mm) and only 100 meters of water resistance.
There's a Seiko Monster out there coming for revenge. It's the SRP313.
That's a cool design!
I dig it, the logo does look like a 'stache though.
Spot on about the lume. Tritium Red would be absolutely cool. Also the watch looked much better swapping out the original band.
Have you looked at the Perennial Nets Rogue? Any thoughts? I love the Nets limited edition that’s no longer available.
Very clean looking, love it.

Literally watching this in Transylvania
I got my first diver watch recently. It’s a Vostok Komandirskie with a 24 hour dial and a date complication at the 6 o’clock (or in this case, the 12), for only $98 off Amazon! Amazing!!! I will grow a mustache like that too:))
Just One More Moustache?
The lugs and buckle also look like fangs.

It is actually a really nice looking watch
Nice design but what is the purpose of that bezel?
Updates as you described... Definitely red tritium, downsize the buckle and ditch the bezel. For all the Dracula hype they missed the mark a bit
0:51
Can you hear, can you hear the thunder?! You better run, you better take cover!
The watch is nice, just not my cup o tea... Good, entertaining vid as always
I will give you that it's an original looking and styled watch. However, in MY opinion, it's a bit pricey for what you get overall. Very cool though.
Wow! Great review. You nailed it; I just kept saying to myself, "He's right!". Thanks :-D
Thanks mate!
Hey! I ordered a watch from gearbest with SF Express shipping! It says it is ready to pick up! Where should i pick it up? I cant find any sf express email or post office i should get it.
Moms wouldn't let that 'I wanna bite your finger' stuff fly today
Brilliant advert and way to begin a vid!
I vant this watch! 😈👻
Haha!
www.perenwatches.com/nera and you got it
Great Tee Shirt mate! Ministry of Silly Walks! :D. This watch definitely needs a couple of tweaks. The Bezel is exceedingly Meh, and the lume is quite disappointing as you say...but a bit of tweaking could make it awesome!
14 blood plasma "donations" , and I'm going to buy them!
Red tip on the second hand might cool !!
The bezel looks a bit disproportionally wide to me.
That watch could really use a revered dome crystal to really make it pop.
Also some gunmetal bluing on the case would be cool.
Love the dark blue/black dial.
Other than that I'd say keep it the way it is.
Okay, you got me with the red tubes.
Crushingly cool with red :)

Bead blast kills it unfortunately. That things needs to shine.
I think it's a winner.
Weren’t you going to try it on a sailcloth or did I miss something?
I did miss it the first time. Sorry
Great review as always. Like the dial on the watch but otherwise it has too much wrong with it for me to consider. Sorry.
I like the looks of that watch as well. However, the branding is silly. I’ve written copy like that before as an inside joke, making up illusions to this, that and the other thing that sounded plausible to an outsider, but everyone knew it was fake. But yes, an interesting design.
The brand is actually from Transylvania
Did I miss the price of the watch?
BEAUTIFUL
What watch are you wearing, you never wrist check?
Switch the Hands or at least the Seond Hand to a thinner maybe a silver.
would love to see you do a review of Van Brauge
It just looks so tiny!
SSVS04 something a man never wants to hear! Especially about his uh.......watch
like the clean face
Love the video as usual, don't like the watch! Sorry to be the awkward one!
Moustachio Bandito Logo!
Blue black? Should be Blood Red after all it was Dracula...lol
There is another one like that. Search for the Peren SOD
Good review and suggestions.
Great ... now I need to get Hasbro's "I want to bite your finger" as well as a watch ... on second thought at over $400 I may need to donate more blood to consider it.
In all honesty I think I would save the money to get a Bulova Lunar Pilot or a Laco Aachen Flieger.
i can’t believe someone made a toy that was actually designed to bite a child’s finger. from the folks who brought you lawn darts right?
great video! the watch has promice, sad its the production model, that bezel total fail. Work needed on the lum too, if memory serves me well, Dracular eyes was highlited before he bit the lady! lol!
Dracula wears a SRP313.
Nice design, but look lika a tiny turret on your wrist... Definately needs to be thinner.
great watch !

Again really like that but lume is very poor that red lume idea is top draw.
Yes mate! Danish! It has that clean and modern thing happening.
@@JustOneMoreWatch I have thang for Danish design it's a an expensive love affair.
great video
i like it but seems a little small
At first I thought NZ All Black scrum-half TJ Perenara now has a sideline business.
To do list:
Buy this watch
Buy garlic
Invite Mother in Law around.
Rinse and repeat.
Good on you Jody.
You must really like this watch if you,re prepared to forgive its poor lume,he he.
Yes mate! I love lume.
good lume is great, but one of my favs is the marlin with no lume, funny old game eh!
Funny review! But when you start going much above $400 US you start to get into Hamilton territory which causes one to pause.
That logo looks a lot like DrDisrespect's mustache.
On-topic : hideous watch. Thanks for the video, tho. Always nice to see those new, uncommon things on the market.
I like it I want one where do I get it
