From the dad of a T1D 5 year old, thank you. Your videos are awesome. I know you're not a fan of the pod design, and I also know the tslim pump you wear is technologically superior to the omnipod in a lot of ways. That said, I dont have to wear one. My 5 Y.O. on the other hand wants a pump. Watching your videos among others, has helped him settle on the omnipod. He just can't get past dealing with a tube. He doesn't mind the MDI, so if it was either a tube or stay on MDI he would choose MDI. Thank you again for your awesome channel, and for all you do for the community. We can't wait to see how the 3 days wearing the omnipod went!
My older daughter was just diagnosed 2/26, and our insurance is going to cover the Omnipod vs the t:slim. This video was so helpful to give us an idea of what we’re in for, thank you for making it!
Thank you for showing how to insert the Dash pod. I've been using the Tandem X2 for almost 4 years now, which is my first insulin pump ever, after 39 years on MDI. But I am planning to switch to the new Omnipod 5, and my training session is this week. All the info I have seen up until now, did not show the underside of the pod. So your video has helped me know better what to expect. I have read that the Dash and 5 pods are very similar. That is even though the pods and pdms are not interchangeable.
I have the freestyle libre 2 and the old Omnipod, and apparently according to my local pharmacist, the app for the libre 2 comes out before the end of the month and the Omnipod dash app can link up to the pod and the libre 2 to manage them at the same time apparently
Diabetic Richard Many years ago I spoke to a diabetic educator who used a pump and to me it seemed like a lot to do so she said how about insulin pens. I have been using pens ever since and I take five shots a day now between Lantus and Humalog. When I visit my doctor next week I will try and get a prescription for a Dexcom g6 and see if with my insurance it’s affordable. Thank you for all you do to help educate us out here in youtube land.
I got approved to try mine last week they are sending it out this week. Been on Medtronic which has been the worse experience and dealing with the customer service reps are worse. It's like they don't understand being a diabetic is. Excited to try the Omnipod though cant wait.
I was on the Omnipod for 6 months. I switched to tslim x2. Personally I had the dreaded click. It can be painful depending on where it is. The autosoft 90 don’t even bother me. Im hoping that the new omnipod system is similar to how tandem has merged the dexcom info on it to shut down when your too low. That has to be the best feature for me since I seem to get a lot of quick drop lows. The other thing that makes me comfortable with tslim is the fact its attached so the meter wakes me up at night when im too high. My dexcom on my phone or the receiver never was able too.
Personally, what I feel is the most ideal about Omnipod Dash (don't know about its predecessor) and the Dexcom CGM is they realized that it need only be subcutaneous; not deep in there. (For those who have noticed the depth difference in the insertions.)
Wow !! I just received my Omnipod today and can’t wait to learn how to use. I’ve been using my Dexcom G5 and my G6 is coming Nov. I hope everything is working out for you as well myself once I get it started
I would love an update about your thoughts on the T-slim sometime. My son is HATING the 670 G pump so we are looking for a different pump system. I am afraid of picking the next one and being equally as disappointed. I wish we had the option of try before buy like you did. From what I am reading the filling of reservoirs on the T-slim seem very different too. That would be a good video too. :)
I just got put on Omnipod a few weeks ago. Pros: no hose getting snagged. Cons: if it falls off because of sweating you lose all insulin that's in it... I lost 100 units. It kinda makes me jump waiting for the cannula to go in too lol. All in all I'm happy with it and cant say its bad
You can use the needle to pull insulin out. I use sometimes use less than the minimum and will do that to save ever bit of that liquid gold that I can! :-)
I have the omnipod freestyle. It used to beep for alerts, but now it's a constant tone (the hazard alert). Wonder how much of this new system insurance will cover. Last time I needed a replacement receiver it was $500.
Thanks for sharing, I'm going to receive mines soon. So excited!!! Have my G6 already & love it so much earlier without finger sticks 😥 where can I find them covers you used for the G6. Its super cute
Do you have sensitivity to adhesives? Your skin looked a little irritated around the edge of the adhesive (along the top and just a little bit down the sides; I didn't notice it along the bottom though). I have had issues with some of the adhesives, so I am wondering (& looking forward to seeing your response).
Thanks so much for reviewing this, I am currently on the Omnipod and am looking to switch over to the dash!😄your video was very informative and helpful as always!! 😍love your videos!
The one complaint I have about Omnipod is that it is itchier than anything I’ve ever had for diabetes care 😑 after being on it for over a year, I’m unimpressed with the update and will be switching back to MiniMed asap 😔 I need better control; my sugars are horrible lately
We have used MiniMed for 18 years. But we are becoming increasingly disappointed with them. The quality of tape and sights and reservoirs seems to be lessening. Our experience with the 670G has been a nightmare. Their reps have been FAR LESS than helpful with the 670G too. They just blame us and tell us we are the only ones having any problems. If you look online, there is a whole community of people that are having the same EXACT issues that we are.
I ordered one of these and it was the omnipod dash but I just got it today and they just sent me a sticker like it wasn’t real it didn’t come with a pdm or a blue needle cap
I dont understand.... why does everyone in these videos get an entire kit from omnipod with a pdm but all I got is a bunch of pods...no insulin...no pdm...no sensors
So are these single use, disposable insulin pumps? Aren't insulin pumps super expensive, like $5k or more each. Are you throwing away $1k each time you pull one off?
My cousin is forever trying to get the omnipod pdm dash but her insurance does cover it and she can't afford it either if u anyone that's willing to donate her one she will donate her old omnipod pdm for the pdm dash
Looks good but I am forbidden from cellphone or electronic device use at my employer. Educated me how this unit worked as the drug rep kept ramming this unit and not really answering my questions....Thanks
Type 2 people posting here.... you should be eating properly and then you won't need a pump. I take daily shots and rather do that than have some bulky body attachment. Shots are painless and easy, imo.
@@amandaerwin9496 I guess I forgot that my son won't use it on his belly as it limits his movements and his jeans rub it. So for 4 years we been using his arms alternating each arm and locations on the arm . Mean lots of meat on a 7 year old but not a lot of land space if you get the meaning

Pro tip. It normally always clicks about five or six times so just count down from six

I am afraid of needles so this is really life changing. Going to try it with the Freestyle Libre 2.

Danica thank you so much for showing us how it works. I was full of questions and now I've got my answers thanks to you. Great video.
Danica, can't wait to hear your review of this pump! I've used the Tandem X2 from the beginning, but the Omnipod Dash looks awesome.

this was helpful! recently diagnosed!!
You can use one of the tips of the plastic casing that hold the next POD to remove the old pod
So excited to get mine soon ! Been sticking myself 10x a day it seems.
I love my Omni Pod. The freedom of not having tubing is wonderful to me.
Thank you for this! I'm converting (I think that's the word) to an omnipod dash so this really helped!
How does the pains feels like..the actual injection and the pod which one is painful.. I am going to get mine in the post in 3 days time

I am excited for the tandem mobi
I have the dexcom only but I use my meter by myself and the. I used insulin separately is it better for diabetes type 1
Nice! That PDM looks way better then the old one. Great video.
The Tandem and Dexcom communicate with each other, does the Dash communicate with the Dexcom or have some other CGM capability?
VAMobMember no it doesn’t

My question is, if you get a bleeder and have to pull out, does you loose a whole pod or you can reconnect the same one?
you lose the whole pod :/
Apparently you can call insulet and ask them to replace it
Free of charge aswell
Tahirah Hamza oh ok that’s good... if I consider insulin pump again, this might be one option
It's been 4 days I'm so wanting to know what you thought of the omni.

can you store your own picture on the pdm?
Hello, why do you have Omnipod and GSM together? Thanks
Will this work with insulin pens??
I'm hoping to get one soon
Can you use pen and deliver insulin to the pod. Great video.
Did you try the old ones? My son has been on omni pods for going on 5 years and wondering if it's time to upgrade him. Any one upgrade yet?

I assume you test your blood sugar with the DASH PDM like the older models, right?
Yes, however the meter is not built in to the PDM it is a separate little Contour Next meter that sinks(Bluetooth) w/ the PDM
Thank you so much.

what is the maximum number of insulin units you can put into the pod.

What color is the old one
