New quartet moves up from the Champions league to the Premier. Can’t say enough about Elia who is always imaginative and in tune. And Carla, big leaps in tone and confidence
Joan, you sure hit a homerun with this quartet. All three women are marvelous and while it would appear a odd combination, it all functions with so much fluidity and apparent ease, it forms a wonderful sound mosaic. Not enough can be said about how an established pro makes sure he fits in with the newbies and complements them. Absolutely fantastic!
This how it used to work - young kids playing with seasoned veterans and learning. Stan Getz left home to play with the Jack Teagarden band when he was 16. Jack had to sign on as his guardian. Sadly, Stan also picked up some bad non-musical habits at a young age.
A lovely interpretation. Èlia and Scott stood out, of course, but what really grabbed my attention was Carla's playing. She is so confident and so mature now, all of a sudden (or so it seems). And her playing reflects this. Wonderful!
Carla has been a very competent guitarist for many years. Although no doubt she has learned a lot from the excellent Josep Traver she now has the space to show what she can do.
@@robertvanruyssevelt7159 Competent yes, but not to this degree, in my opinion. And for a long time she had a hesitancy, or lack of assurance, in her solo playing. But that seems to be gone now -- I love it!
Joan Chamorro is some kind of a god of music, like Cecilia or Clio, Euterpe or Erato, or Apollo, or his daughters, Cephisso, Apollonis, and Borysthenis. Or a muse like Thelxinoë, Aoide, Archē, and Melete. An amazing man.
Oh my...Elia really soaring and bravo to the whole ensemble! It’s great to see musicians so into and enjoying the magic. 🙏👏🏼 But I think that I may be getting a crush on Elia...sigh...🙀
First discovered Scott Hamilton with the Rosemary Clooney band. One of the finest tenor players ever! His career highlight might well be during his years with the SAJB. What a deep-textured, nuanced and mellow sound! One of the best ... like fine wine! Great musicians all! Strayhorn would surely love this performance. Feels like this group share the same heartbeat.
Thank you for posting this beautiful ballad Joan.. You and these extremely talented young people have been an inspiration to me for a few years now. I think that Elia Bastida is a tremendously talented musician along with Carl Motis and Alba Armengou. In these very troubled times, your music has been very important to me for lifting my spirts. Thank You again Joan and God Bless.
Another portentous exhibition by Élia Bastida with her violin: technique and sensitivity by the ton, wonderful interpretation (and no, I'm not going to make again the hackneyed comparison with Steephane Grappelli ... oops, ok, I've made it 😉). The accompaniment of the girls Carla and Alba, of luxury: technique and sensitivity, etc., etc. ... And the "boys" Scott and Joan, the same: technique and sensitivity, etc., etc. ... So, well that.
I don't like whiners, but I do not understand. An early commenter congratulated Senyor Chamorro on consistently unearthing such talent. I replied that the three young women totaled at least 25 years in the program, citing both the instructor and the dedicated, hard work of the musicians. We both agreed that the result was fantastic. That comment/reply has been excised yet suggestively lewd remarks elsewhere are allowed to stand. I do not understand. Still fantastic.
Another Billy Strayhorn classic handled to perfection by the Joan Chamorro group. What excellent musicianship............

Who said you can’t put new wine into old wine skins? Perfect blend of young & old to create the new. EXCELLENTE!
Dear Elia: You are the Star forever . Nice violín sound
So nice to follow the progress of these wonderful kids as they grew up over the years. Congratulations Joan!
Beautiful playing from Elia and Scott. Carla, Alba and Joan rock solid as always.

Small group jazz just doesn't get any better than this. Superb!
Ravishing performance by all with the right combination of melody and melancholy, restraint and rapport
Sheer beauty! Brought tears to my eyes. That's what happens when fantastic musicians team up.
Alba, Elia, Carla all exhibit new found maturity in front of a couple of old guys. Take bow! Bill Burrows
What a gem! Five wonderful musicians and so sensitively played and produced.
Great music performed by professionals
These young people are students no more, they are pros. I love them all.
I AGREE👍🏽✌🏽🤞🏽👏🏽👏🏽
In this summer and crazy times, this is exactly what we need 🎶💕 grate music and gifted people.

Great rendition of a great tune. Love that Scott Hamilton spends so much time with the kids. Beautiful solos and always great tone everywhere.
Scott Hamilton fits like a glove, over there in Barcelona.

Perfect soothing and relaxing music for these hard times. Thank you, all of you, for keeping me smiling.

Wonderful.
Yes!❤
Bellíssim!!
Could almost hear Ella singing this as they were playing.
Wonderful!!
Violin is such a beautiful but underutilized jazz instrument.

I wonder who sings best : the violin ? the saxophone ? the guitar ?... the five together !
I think that Joana Casanova has the best pipes of all the kids Saw a video of her in 2016 soaring on some song.
great!
