    Just a heads up to anyone building this, the 12"x12" beveled tiles HD sells might not be exactly 12"x12". I've found that most are 12 1/16" on at least one side. I found this out the hard way (after the frame was built). I bought five of the 6-packs, and only got 10/30 mirror tiles that actually fit, and another 2 that are about 12 1/32". For these other 2 I am just gonna try sanding down some of the frame and re-staining.

    Such a great idea! I live in a property with limited daylight and had been thinking about buying a mirror of some sort... Now, I reckon I could make this quite easily!

    Good plans, I just made one of these out of oak. Of course mine took a lot longer considering all the wood went threw a joiner and thickness planner, and my table saw. I also used a backer board to reinforce the mirrors. A FYI when you apply glue to end grain its not the same as applying to face grain. Due to the nature of wood, more glue will be absorbed into the wood, not creating the bond your looking for. You can prime the end grain with glue and then reapply glue once the priming coat has dried, but that too will have a minimal bonding effect. Because I don't like the Oak look I painted mine white, and as one could assume Oak is a lot heavier than the pine! Instead of using a brad nailer to connect the base frame, I used a Hitachi 16 Gauge staple gun. It will not easily fall apart.

    I just notice that most mirror videos lack to show how they support the back to hang it on the wall. Maybe it’s too obvious? But since it’s a heavy piece, I’m kinda nervous It wonmt hold

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  Місяць тому +1

      I am sorry we didn’t show this part
      We use screws and a wire to hang this project.
      Make sure you have at least two attachment points into the back of the mirror framing.
      Also make sure you hang to studs in the wall or use drywall anchors

    I am currently making this and my mirrors are extremely tight fitting so I would suggest adding 1/16" to the long 1x2's to give yourself some wiggle room. I think I'm going to plane down some of the 12" molding pieces by about 1/32 - 1/16 to make room. Also, my game may be out of square so treat for as you go!

      Used a picture hanging kit that I purchased at the hardware store. It's secured to the shorter frame pieces on both sides.

    Nice Job Ana..! How did you hand this mirror? Did you use french cleat or just hooks to studs?...
    Keep it up Ana, you are doing great job..

    Hi. This is an awesome diy and will be my first. I do not have any tools or too much space to store them. Can we get these wooden pieces completely cut to exact size at a hardware store. and are you nailing or stapling the wood. Also can I just use a strong adhesive to put it together instead?

    I love this!! I would like to make one that is 6 mirror tiles long and three high. What would my measurements be or how do I figure them our? Also do you think since it is bigger I would need a board on the back or it will be ok? If I need one what would you recommend. I dont want it to be super heavy. Thanks for sharing all your great projects!

    What if I don't have a nail gun. What else could I use?

    • @AnaWhiteDIY
      @AnaWhiteDIY  9 років тому

      alex Hi Alex, if you don't have a nail gun, you can screw the frame boards together (try trim screws). The trim boards added between the mirrors will need to be nailed on. You can use a hammer and finish nails but will need to drive the finish nails below the surface of the trim with a nail punch.

      Ana, I tried to send you an email about an industrial pipe loft bed (inspired by RH Teen Wylie). My son, in grade 6 has a school project to build something and he has no bedroom furniture, so he thought he'd make a bed. We love the look of this and were hoping you might be able to help!.
