Hi, can i ask where the American store, that you mentioned at the end of the video, is? I lived in the US for two years and the tiny food selection that countdown has is just not cutting it.
Hi, when you start a shift at work are you given a task sheet or something similar to follow throughout the day? or if not, how do you determine what you are doing each day?
Depends what team you're on, sometimes we've got specific tasks to do and other times we've got more broad tasks like patrolling high-risk areas and other times its going to calls. - Constable Hurn.
Stole a vehicle, disobeyed a police command, crashed said car, ran from the crash scene, filed a false police report, provided false personal identification to authorities… it's like a how-to manual for "How to get Incarcerated before the age of 21!"
People seem to be lying to you all the time. Why do you think that is? And what’s the weirdest lie you’ve been told on the job? Love the videos. Seems strange that society on the opposite side of the world can be similar in so many ways 🙂 Cheers from Denmark!
I think people lie because it's hard for them to accept they have made a mistake - I totally agree, the world is a vast place with many differences but ultimately I think people are all quite similar and there is lots of consistency in how we behave across cultures and generations. I don't know what the weirdest one would be. A while ago I arrested a fella on a bail breach and while searching him I asked if he had anything he shouldn't have on him. He proceeded to tell an outrageous story about borrowing a friends pants with a friends wallet that he had put his cash and cards into, I wasn't surprised when I found drugs in the wallet. - Constable Hurn.
@@newzealandpolice Thank you for taking the time to respond :) That is a bit of a strange lie to tell. I'm impressed if he kept a straight face while telling it!
Delilah Hague you’re supposed to move out of their way or pull over in either situation I’m pretty sure. But normally they signal to you and you can see from your mirrors, or they’ll follow you/signal at your car specifically without moving away from you. Obviously they would be able to answer properly 😂😂
Please Disregard the name btw. I have a question. If I apply now, I'm almost 18 and nearly got my full, will I actually have a chance of getting in? Because every person I have talked to say you need "Life Experience", all I want to do is to join a service and I don't want to waste time and money at Uni if I already know where I want to end up. Cheers, Bloody great videos! Keep em' coming.
Lots of things can be useful, I've got friends who have law degrees, comms degrees, arts, sciences, all kinds of learning can be applied because our work is so broad. I'd say things around communication, psychology, law and criminology are particularly helpful. - Constable Hurn.
I’ve got a question John, why doesn’t the other officer control the lights and sirens whilst you drive? Or is that a stupid question. Can anyone answer please because I’ve always been curious
The only stupid question is the one not asked. There are occasions when the passenger may do that but it's ordinarily the drivers responsibility, I flick it back and forth like that to try and get people to hear it, sometimes the continuous sound just gets ignored. My favorite sound is the Hi Low, kinda sounds like British Police, I find people hear it easier. - Constable Hurn.
Hey, just a quick question, do you need level 3 to become a cop? I have full license and am 18 y/o with level 2, what else do I need to become a frontline cop, I’m an apprentice builder at the moment and looking to become a cop in the future, thanks :)
@rhys loudon, I also have a small finger tattoo on the inside of my middle finger, it’s just a breastcancer symbol for my mum, just heard you weren’t allowed hand tattoos??

Hi constable hurn, if someone I know was not able to stop at a orange light and the police pull her over for that, should they be getting a fine or no?

Hi Johny, I read that police college takes only 16 weeks, is there a contract that means that you have to work as a police officer past that? If I went to Police college, became a registered police officer and then decided I preferred flipping patties, could I quit?
Joining is a serious commitment, if you're not 100% in for it then I think the recruitment stage would be a struggle. During that time you'll interact with cops, go out on some shifts and complete a heap of testing. After that you've got some distance learning and then you go down for your 16 weeks at Police College. Once you've completed college you get sworn in and are officially a Constable. After that I guess you could quit but I don't know why you would and you'd obviously no-longer be a Constable. I have known of people who've left the job soon after graduating but it's extremely uncommon. - Constable Hurn.

a truck can enter an intersection while its green but have it change orange to red by the time its out the other side without the driver being able to help it
When turning right at an intersection while facing a disc green light and with no red right turn arrow showing, is it legal to move forward past the limit line and stop in the intersection to wait for on-coming straight through traffic then turn right even if the lights go orange or red including a red arrow? As long as the passage on the intended intersection exit is not blocked also.
