What a splendid chap John Lloyd is - perfect company at dinner or a drive round the block.

absolutly right about qi and other panel shows. QI is the only one I which all the time and can always re-watch the re-runs on dave mainly because qi is not about what's been going on in the news.

100%. I've seen every episode of QI twice and wouldn't miss any in future - but others are for light entertainment only when I'm bored.

OMG! The comment about the difficulty of pitching ideas to suits these days RINGS TRUE! They want ideas that re safe. And most of the time that means trashy!

Actually, there was a "photo negative" Othello before, in the 1960s. There was a script called "White Othello" by a man named Russell Roman Sr. who set the play in Africa with a caucasian mercenary as the white Othello. It was going to be an off-off Broadway, very small scale production. But the stage manager and the lead actor absconded with the funds that Roman had scraped together.
It would be great to see a film version of the Play that Stewart did.

19:57 Aww QI isn't on in the states?
QI started on TV in Australia recently. It's great, they alternate playing new shows and the old archive shows. It's like watching Stephen Fry play dressup, fantastic.

I don't understand why a lot of QI fans don't like John Lloyd. Are they really that ungrateful?

Excellent webisode as ever Bobby! He seems like a great guy.
Incidentally, is there any way of seeing the repeats of the tv programme on Dave? I missed last night's episode.

Ruby Wax had a show about interviewing unknown strangers.
She began by asking someone who the most interesting person they knew, was - and then she would track them down and interview them. When that interview was over, she would ask them who they considered the most interesting person, and she'd set off with an introduction.
I remember one was an ambulance paramedic and she said the weirdest thing she ever dealt with, was a man that had been having se x with a little dog and got stuck! He had to go to hospital in the ambulance. With the dog. That was a shake up.
I think she was sent off to a well known eccentric aristocrat who had his own hermit, who was paid to just hang about. And either the aristocrat or a painter was painting room after room with everybody the Lord had dealings with, including lots of mistresses.
It wasn't the usual suspect - I think he's dead now. Marquis of Bath. It was another chap.
I think he might have walked to London, barefoot, as a young man? I think the show was in the early 80's? Not sure.

23:34 well pointless as it may be John Lloyd QI isn't on all the time (even on DAVE) and in my opinion just banter without intellectual nourishment is surly better then nothing

Ukraine is amazing, wonder if he worked with the hero Zelensky, as he was also a comic.

I listen to this on the side and sometimes I drift of and suddenly think I'm listening to Ricky Gervais...I don't know why but Robert Llewellyn, who has more Ls than is good for my sanity in his name, kind of sounds like him.

John Lloyd is a reminder of how great the BBC used to be. Not the Nine o'Clock News is still one of the best comedy sketch shows ever produced... thank you John.

@@benphilips9918 Brilliant interview with him about Peter Cook for the cook fan site, where he said he always suspected Peter knew the meaning of life, and hoped he would tell him one day!
