Krisis's insights on what kids love in books are so true (judging from my younger self and the people around me). I'm going to remember those words when I have children: "Kids really like books about school settings. Especially if there's a mystery. Especially if it's a little bit dark. Kids love darkness that they have been permitted to hang out with."
I read Flash Born to Run this past week and it really is phenomenal, glad it made the list. It's really does have so much joy and heart of Wally meeting The Flash (made me so happy reading this part) and then becoming the flash. It's just wonderful
While I understand your decision to not include Venditti's Hawkman in the evergreen list, I think it's one of the best things DC has published in the last 5 years.
My evergreen future videos choices-- 1. Manga evergreen-twist. You can only pick one vol. Not a full one piece or case closed story but one vol to tell the best of that manga! 2. Cartoon/ movie/ toy evergreen--transformers, gijoe, he-man, ghostbusters, godzilla, and of course alf! 3. Disney story evergreen-dell, gold key, whiteman, boom, disney comics, etc. 4. Best limited series evergreen-x-men vs fantastic four 80s, batman the cult, firestar, marvels, transformers headmasters, etc.
Green Lantern Rebirth is the book that helped me jump into Green Lantern. I'm not new to comics by any stretch but I hadn't read any Green Lantern before that book and now I've gone through a bit.
This was an interesting discussion. Always interesting to see the books that were chosen. My suggestions would be: 1) DC: The New Frontier 2) Superman: Secret Identity 3) Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia 4) Batman: The Man Who Laughs 5) Superman: For All Seasons 6) JLA: New World Order 7) Batwoman: Elegy 8) Batman Adventures: Mad Love 9) Green Lantern/Green Arrow: Hard-Traveling Heroes 10) Batman Universe
Great video, love the discussions! I'm shocked some arent already evergreen like Long Halloween. I would put Wonder Woman by Rucka (pre-rebirth) at the top of the list. Made me a big WW fan, it's perfect
Gotham Academy doesn’t get enough love. Glad to see it here, more people should read it. I feel like not enough people would be buying it to be justified as evergreen.
YES top pics with tier levels for each carachters would be great! Top should be MASTERPIECE, middle should be MUST READ, and bottom should have a hint of shame to stir up the debate... something like Overrated or Underwhelming, maybe even Mediocre? Than at the end you rename the last category to SOLID READ and everyone is happy
Some topic suggestions for group videos: 1) Best discontinued runs that should have continued / ended too early 2) Best legacy characters (i.e. characters that took over the mantle) 3) Favorite stories that are generally disliked by the comic community (your chance to pick Batman Year 2)
As someone just getting into the hobby the past few months, I'm honestly surprised at how bad DC are in comparison to Marvel in terms of marketing and putting their product out there. Always just thought it was Warner Brothers constantly fumbling DC titles on the big screen but coming into comics via the Omnibus format and sources such as this channel, Marvel is just so much more appealing due to what's available. Obviously your channel is huge in helping entice me into upcoming titles, thanks to the relationship you have with Marvel allowing for clearer reflection on what's in the works. So far aside from Gotham Central & 6 Batman Omnis, I've not bothered with DC this far. Do keep seeing all of the love the community have for DC but again, as a new reader, the marketing is so far behind Marvel.
I really like the idea of these evergreen titles connecting in some way to an extent. For instance someone who picks up Batman and Son who might want to read more about Damian Wayne can then pick up Super Sons for example.
Better question would be what DC doesn't keep in print. It seems like all their greatest hits are always available in different formats, which I think is great and I hope they'll continue doing it
I've read a fair amount of DC, but more of Marvel so I don't quite feel qualified for this but nevertheless. Controversial pick maybe but I really enjoyed Doomsday Clock even having not yet read and I think that would make a good evergreen title even with its questionable continuity status.
Observations: 1. Odfel's choices are *Chef's Kiss* 2. For someone who claims to not think much of DC, Krisis (a reference to a MAJOR DC event, btw) choices are excellent 3. Lars' choices are garbage (sorry Lars!) 4. VERY happy that Batman only appears twice, and that HUSH (as much as I love that story) was not on anyone's list. It's been printed a thousand different ways already. 5. Omar's choices are automatically disqualified for choosing a book that has art by that piece of human garbage, Ethan Van Sciver. But I forgive him slightly for adding Perez's WW.
haha, thank you! I adopted this name back before I had EVER read the original Crisis (which was the only one that existed at that point, though I had read Zero Hour).

I love these shows so much!

If I can get one more person to read it as a result of this video, my mission is complete. And, also, maybe Venditti could sell that one copy 😂
I haven’t read that Hawkman run but the pitch Peter gave was the most intriguing case for a book from the video
I guess this final evergreen list is definitely definitely incomplete without the blackest night series 💚💚🖤💚💚

I'm looking forward to a collection of Kelly Thompson's new Birds of Prey run sometime next year.
It has been so great!

How are Kingdom Come and New Frontier not already evergreen?
Great show. Do more!

LOVED BJ's picks, especially Super Sons, so happy to see that there! Great list overall!

John Byrne's Man of Steel, and Levitz/Giffen/Pérez LOSH.

I highly recommend the 3 green lantern omnis by geoff johns
It should be number 1 on the list but they don't like Ethan Van Sciver. @@km91420
My 3 evergreen choices would be Batman Adventures, Superman Adventures, and Brubaker’s Catwoman.
I really like the idea of these evergreen titles connecting in some way to an extent. For instance someone who picks up Batman and Son who might want to read more about Damian Wayne can then pick up Super Sons for example.
My top 3 evergreen DC books:
1. The Flash: Born To Run
2. Super Sons Vol.1: When I Grow Up
3. Wonder Woman by George Perez Vol.1
1:00:22 hahahahaha God bless Adorable Omnidog stealing the show

Where's Kurtis??
He opted out of this one since he hasn’t read that much DC.
@@NearMintCondition Didn't stop me 😜
I had to google Barriers 😂😂😂
For DC it's supply and demand
Tower of Babel, really? With the team-members against each other???
It’s one of the best Justice League stories that is really a Batman story. They did a whole movie on two big icons vs each other. Martha!
@@NearMintCondition Martha?! Why did you say that name!
I read Grant Morrison as my first Batman and it only made me think I didn't like Batman cause it was Soo confusing
